Excellent food! The breakfast sandwiches were really big and really tasty. Missing a star because the lady at the register was rude.
Due to COVID-19 seating was limited to 3 bistro tables outside, no dining inside.
We'd never been there, they limit the number of people who can be inside to order. We needed to read the menu but couldn't read it from outside, thus we had to stand in line and read the menu. Apparently we took too much time / space to read a menu!? (note: if there was a menu posted outside we didn't see it - maybe it was blocked by the people sitting or standing around?) I really was trying to be considerate of the rules but I ALSO need to read a menu, I wasn't loitering!
The cashier asked us if she could take our order, then she asked if we were ready to order. We felt rushed, so when we ordered our sandwich, we asked for it to be on an english muffin. We got a roll of the eyes and 'ALL of our sandwiches are on english muffins! - heavy sigh'
Felt bad that she had to be crabby, we just went about our breakfast with a 'whoo-hooo-happy-I'm-on-vacation' mood.
Really excellent sandwich tho - seriously good.

Showed up at 4:19p to buy some pastries (of which there were plenty). Sign said they closed at 4:30p but we were turned away and told that they decided to close at 4p. Very unprofessional way to conduct business. At least 4 other people tried to enter before 4:30p as I wrote this. Now they've lost business and received a bad review.

The Model Bakery has been a fixture of Main Street St. Helena for my entire life, and its longevity is well deserved. The breads and pastries are awesome, and the English muffins really are a classic. Long may it live.

For how packed this place gets, they've got next to no seating. It probably deserves more than 3 stars but it was hot and I was getting claustrophobic. I only got a salad, but it was good. The service was quick and friendly.

The line was incredibly long, and the building was packed to the brim. But it was worth the wait. It's immediately apparent why The Model Bakery is so popular. The breakfast sandwich was amazing. The coffee was fantastic. The cheddar onion scone was probably the best thing I've eaten in a long while. 10/10 - I would recommend this little spot as a requirement for anyone who's spending time in the Napa Valley.

Always delicious food. It's almost always busy here with heavy tourist traffic. Better to plan to take your breakfast to go but you can sometimes get a table if someone is leaving at the right time. The staff is friendly and they tend to be fairly quick. They have gluten free options.

Breakfast sausage sandwich. And the almond danish. Without a doubt the best I have ever had!!

The bread was superb, also the soup of the day. It's a take away bakery but you can eat on site . We ate lunch on a sunny autumn day and sat outside. The smell of freshly baked bread accompanied with scenery in the back side were a winning combination.

there is a baked good for every desire here, and all are excellent. besides the pastries and bread i am addicted to the breakfast tartine with bacon, hard boiled egg, and cheese sauce. peet's coffee here is ok, but better to get your baked goods here, then go to ritual coffee next door in the oxbow market.

While the food here is good and the coffee is actually decent, it seems to me that everyone in here really hates their job. I've been in here several times for desserts, sandwiches, bread, and coffee, and each time I left thinking that the employees must be mistreated in some way because they are all so obviously miserable. So even though the food is good, I stopped going here and now go with other options when I'm in St Helena. An always-unhappy workforce doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience. The Napa Oxbow location didn't seem to have the same problem, but I've only been there once.

I have worked at The Model Bakery in Saint Helena for over four years. This is truly an exceptional bakery. The bread, pastries, cookies, and various desserts are made to perfection. Breakfast and lunch are served daily. Great coffee drinks are made by talented baristas :) The bakery is family-owned, and offers small-town feel and charm. Be sure to try our English muffins! They are delightful :)

So worth the hype. The Oprah's favorite bagel, which are more like English muffins are now our favorite English muffins and we don't usually agree with any celebrity list on anything. Get one of the breakfast sandwiches with the bagel/ English muffin. In fact, get two and get a bag to take home

Unique and very very busy in early afternoon, workers keep it flowing smoothly. Lots of choices. Nice coffee tea beverage area too.
Outside was great that day, tends too get too hot due to ovens working inside. Everyone seems to be content. Try one of Oprah's and Chefs alike for a bite or take pastry home. Tyler F. and Michael C. And others local favor it. Including Ina G. It's been a local gem for sometime
Still appreciate the variety and availability sold.

The sweets are great and the breads they offer are amazing!
Highly recommended.
An update of the furniture would be a great improvement.

The hype is worth it! These were the fluffiest English muffins I ve ever had. It can get quite busy and there is a bit of seating inside but can be a tight squeeze when there is a long line.

Controlled chaos that also happens to be a bakery. Very crowded and lively on peak days/times, but it's worth the (short) wait. The staff is efficient at taking and getting out orders, and the food can't be beat! We tried something resembling an open-faced bruschetta sandwich, which was amazing, but you really can't go wrong.

Everything smelled, looked and what I had was the chicken salad croissant which was massive and absolutely divine!
I'd keep going back to try something new, omg have to keep a super active lifestyle so the pounds stay off my hips!!

After 20 days of traveling the US, we began as French people to have a strong desire for ... bread! That was before I came across The Model Bakery, which offers high quality sourdough breads.
We also fell in love with the key lime tart, probably the best we've tasted.
100% recommended by Pointus.

Best breakfast wrap I have ever had! Highly recommend. I would have given them 5 stars but they accidentally charged me for an extra sandwich but I can't complain because it was so darn delicious!

I shop the napa bakery 4 times a week, and it's a 5 star joint.
I needed a baguette for dinner and was in st helena so I stopped at that location, well they don't have a 2pm baked baguette. I ended up with a hard baguette that shouldn't have been sold to anyone.
I guess they don't have an afternoon bake like the napa shop does.
