I had the worse experience of my life there. I am still having flashbacks from my experience there. I was admitted in ICU for DKA. I was extremely sick & because of that I was confused and so they did a four point retrained. instead of retraining my hands to the side they restrained my arms above my head. That means every time I had to take a breath in I had to try to push myself up with my legs to breath even though my legs were restrained. When they moved me down to the normal floor the nurse there was so traumatizing that I still have nightmares over it. She came in and said, "You are going to stay like this my whole shift (12hrs ) and laughed". I was scared because I had PTSD of prior due to sexual abuse that was tied to the bed. So they didn't take that into consideration. Then the nurse would walk around my bed getting close to my face whispering, "You're sneaky, and evil , and I don't like you.") She repeated that over and over again. Then half way through her shift she came into clean me up but I didn't need cleaning. I didn't want her to touch me. As I was strapped the bed she ripped off my gown and throw powder on me and was washing me up after I screamed "NO"!!! to her. It was 12 hrs of feeling like I was suffocating and the worse pain you could ever imagine. By the time the next nurse came my heart was in so much stress that it was starting to shut down so they rushed me back to the ICU. I still hear that awful nurse words and now suffer nightmares and extreme flash backs. It was total hell in that place.

I can t even know where to begin with the amazing care I received from this hospital, from the doctors to the nurses. Nurse Rachelle O. Was truly a blessing. She took care of me every step of the way and even waited with me until my Lyft driver got there to pick me up. What a great hospital! I would def recommend this to loved ones!!!

Was sent here cause someone couldnt mind there own buisness tried refusing service. They wouldn't take no as an answer now super in debt almost homeless cause the greed of this company is all that matters. Tried calling to explain the person didn't care and told me i have to pay the bill regardless. Then tried to explain i can't pay the aforementioned bill and was told my bill wasnt even at this place eventhough when they want money its cool to pay through them but when cant afford the outrageous unwarranted bill its through another company. So thanks
Future homeless person

Had a bad experience with one nurse. Everyone else at your facility treated me with respect and compassion. The first visit was a 3 hour wait, just to get a room. But your staff that day was completely overwhelmed, and they kept us informed and worked so hard to make us comfortable.

Will never go here again. If you have a rare disea...

Will never go here again. If you have a rare disease they will try to kill you then blame you for the error.
I have been formally diagnosed with PTSD because of my experiences there. The SHORT list of things that happened (I've had 6 hospitalizations since October 2017 there)

-ER doc outright lied to me and told me he talked to my neurologist. He ordered medications in the ER that made my condition WORSE. My neurologist was furious, and so was my endo because it affected other conditions I had negatively. I complained to the hospital's patient advocate, they investigated and said nothing was wrong even though what they gave me could have stopped my breathing. I was discharged with no help other than to give me a med that made me worse, and my condition declined.
-I caught noro virus in the hospital. It is filthy. I know several others in my community that state they picked up MRSA here. I was taken on and off isolation, loaded up with fluids and wound up in kidney failure in ICU. I was there for a chronic neurological condition and almost died in ICU from an in hospital infection. In ICU I was given a med that weakened my diaphragm even further and I had to be on non-invasive respiratory support. A pulmonologist told me he knew more about my disease than me, and I was wearing it for attention.
-Nurses and doctors CONSTANTLY infantilize their patients. No one asked my preferences or even symptoms. Orders were made that were completely oblivious to my current condition, and when I asked for them to change to appropriate treatment, it was not changed. I am not a child, I live in my body daily and am a former nurse. My knowledge of my own condition was NEVER respected.
- A occupational therapist insisted during one visit that I go to inpatient rehab for a month for strengthening. My neurological condition causes muscle paralysis (including my breathing muscles) with repetitive use. When I explained this, she huffed out and brought back some brochures for inpatient treatment.
-A physical therapist refused to sign off on my discharge until I could climb 10 stairs 3 times in a row. I'm in a wheelchair most days due to my condition, which is similar to ALS.
_ A respiratory therapist got frustrated with my facial weakness and inability to make a seal with my mouth around a tube for a breathing test. She jammed the tube in my mouth so hard she cut my lip. I yelped in pain and she stormed out of the room. I asked to speak to a supervisor and have yet to hear from anyone. I called after discharge and NO ONE has called me back.
-The nursing assistant who banged my door open on the night shift, flipped on all of the overhead lights and yelled my name loudly, then laughed because I was groggy and shaking.

I can go on and on..this place is HORRIBLE. I wouldn't go there again for a broken finger nail..I'd probably end up in ICU again. Go at your own risk, it is filthy, they have zero infection control being practiced, and the staff are down right dangerous.

When sign outside for E.R. wait time says 17 minutes, it means till you see triage nurse. It was 2 hours till we got in an exam room. Fast service for cat scan and IV meds. Professional and efficient nursing staff.

Had nasal surgery here and was truly blown away at how amazing the staff was. I'll admit check in was a little different than I imagined, but it was 5 in the morning. The pre op team was professional with good bedside manner. They did have me actually walk into the operating room myself and lay on the operating table to get comfortable before anesthesia, which again was nothing like is ever experienced and found odd. The surgeon and his team were phenomenal. The nurses in recovery again were professional with great bedside manner. The real superstars though were the nurses after I got admitted. They made me feel like family! Truly amazing to be so comforted in the exact moment you needed that. They even walked me to my car at discharge. I couldn't help but to hug them for the amazing care they gave! Thank you so much!

Went in for 3 stitches last Nov and now have a $2900 bill. I would have gone to an Urgent care but it was late and they were all closed. Nurses were beyond horrible. Rude and demeaning the entire time. Like it was my fault for being there. Asked for water and was directed to a sink! Then returned and asked for a cup to use and was given what looked like a puke bucket.
Super unprofessional staff. Nurses hate their jobs and take it out on the patients. Worst medical experience ever.

I would have given 5 stars rating, but the hospital is bit racist. Without asking my ethnicity, they simply updated me as Hispanic/Latino in their system based on my color and looks. I am Indian by nationality and Asian by Race. The doctor and staff were pretty good and helpful in nature. Hope they stop discriminating people based on ethnicity.

No one wants to go the hospital, but I needed surgery so it was necessary. The nurses at The Medical Center of Aurora were pleasant and kept me comfortable during my stay. The pre check in is convenient and completes the necessary paperwork, before your surgery day. Everything was professionally handled and I have no complaints.

While overall I was happy with the tests that the doc ran and the correct diagnosis, my care was less than stellar. After checked by the front desk, I was told to wait in chairs by the vending machines. I sat and visibly shivered for over 15 min while trying to catch someone s eye for a blanket. Finally had to interrupt a secretary to get one. I spent about 4 hrs in your ER and even though I had a chest X-ray and there was talk of a VQ scan for a pulmonary embolism, NO ONE ever took a stethoscope to listen to my lungs or heart. I m an ex ICU nurse and believe me, this isn t a detail I forgot or overlooked. At no time did any physical exam take place except for the few pushes the doc did on my abdomen while I was sitting up 90 degrees. I d be real interested in knowing if he charted lungs clear to auscultation , because if he did, it was a complete lie. . Does your medical staff always overlook the basics of a physical exam and totally rely on testing? As an RN, I was appalled.

the worst medical care available. seriously disgraceful to call these people healthcare professionals. as a healthcare worker myself seeing the manner in which these people present themselves and the slow treatment of patients is outrageous. the bedside manner is non existant and the patient care is lacking severely. do yourself a favor and avoid this hospital unless you are looking to die.

Had a calcium channel score done. Everyone was very nice and it was over quickly. I did however have to wait a few extra minutes for my heart rate to get into the 80 s. I think I was nervous because it stayed in the 90 s for a while. FYI, no caffeine 6 hrs prior as they cannot scan if heart rate is in 90 s or above. Overall, very quick and kind staff

Excellent experience at this ER. Wife had abdominal pain and sudden fever. They were busy in ER but we were taken into a room quickly. Fever was down due to Tylenol, and no other covid symptoms. We went back out to wait due to other more emergent people. Only half hr wait, and were taken to room where PA, nurse, and scribe who were excellent and efficient, described what possibly could be and proceeded w blood, UA, later CT scan and covid test. We had the best care either of us ever had in other ER's around Denver area. We both highly recommend it!

Overall terrible experience after spending 8 days....

Overall terrible experience after spending 8 days. A few staff members were excellent but most were terrible and rude. Huge lack of empathy and capability to do their jobs. A lot of their records/note taking are incorrect: incorrect information of where and who I live with, the type of injuries I had etc. Social worker was nice face to face but completely lied to me and my parents faces and refuses to help or work with us after the long stay. Nurses did not take me seriously about some pain issues putting in my records that I was childish and demanding- eventually got rushed from one facility to the others ER for a serious issue that they let get worse and worse until it was life threatening. You have to be "demanding" to try and take care of yourself in there and not let a different issue kill you. The kitchen staff are inept, some of the nurses are down right rude and cruel, and social workers unwilling to help their patients. There were several complaints from other patients about employee theft of patient items. The rules were inconsistent between all the nurses; they'd tell you one thing and then a different nurse would say the opposite. It was beyond frustration for everyone, including staff. Head nurse tried to explain that they do have problems with staff as they are in a transitional phase of hospital growth. Our unit had no heat; maintenance had to come several freezing days into the stay to try to fix it - it worked for one day. While we appreciate the few workers that were amazing the vast majority didn't seem to know what they were doing.

Overall it was a terrible experience that caused just as many problems than we were there to take care of.

I went to the ER for pain and nausea. I was throwing up as I walked in and was told I still had to go through the metal detector. I was made to vomit in my own hoodie because they wouldn't help me until I went through the metal detector. They wouldnt even give me a bag to put the hoodie in.Then the security guard detains my boyfriend and wont let him come see me in the room. Only after I talked to 2 different hospital personnel was he allowed to come back and see me. I had blood drawn and then was left waiting (still in pain and vomiting) for 30 mins. They send a EMT student to finally at least hook me up to an IV and give me some nausea medicine. He asks a series of questions I have already answered to 5 other people and then I am left alone again, this time for about 45 mins.
at this time a dr named Dutton Swain walks in and criticizes me for having pain, makes fun of me for taking too much Tylenol and when I ask him what the diagnosis is, makes yet another snide comment and walks out of the room.
Skip 20 mins later and a nurse comes in with a pill. When I ask her what is going on, she stares blankly and goes to get someone else. 2 hours into this, I finally get my diagnosis. When I ask if I can FINALLY have some pain meds seeings as I am battling some infections, I am told I was already given them.
Long story short, I finally get my pain meds and prescriptions and when I ask the dr if they will have any adverse reactions to my other medications, she tells me no. I tell her that most times, they do. She looks it up and then tells me I am right.

This was honestly the best experience I've ever had at a hospital and I've been to a few. Every single staff member in the ER that I came in contact with was extremely kind and professional. I truly felt cared for and not like I was just another person they had to treat. My Doctor was Doctor Ron Rudawsky and if he ever sees this, I want him to know how grateful I am for his concern, time, energy and attention to my health care. I was always asked "is there anything I can do for you" "what can I get for you to make you more comfortable" by everyone who came in and it was so wonderful to feel so good when I felt so bad. THANK YOU! This will be my go to hospital as long as I'm living in Aurora.

I got hit by a car and was transported here.

I got hit by a car and was transported here.
Biggest issue: the nurse bribed me to give my personal information in return for the ability to take my own meds for pain relief, they are notttt going to give me meds anyway since I am already prescribed pain killers. Meaning, without this bribe I would of been in complete agony until I left the HOSPITAL. What has this world come to????

The EMTs are not sympathetic, nor bothered to listen to me. The staff at the hospital is a joke and full of stoner nurses. I get there, doctor just looks at me for a second, then was like "well, what do you want, xrays?" uhhh.. Obviously, I WAS HIT BY A CAR.

Intake guy comes in, radiology girl comes in at the same time. "ill just come back later" she says. An hour goes by till she was back. Nice.

I cant say anything about their medication dosing as I was not administered any from them, by choice, yet i needed to accept a bribe from the nurse to have PERMISSION to take my own meds..

So, basically took 3 hours to get some xrays done

They all ask for your social security number, for intake purposes (to officially get your money!) i refused since this is an auto insurance thing, not from my policy either. I suggest never giving out your social security number, they never got it cause they dont actually "need" it. FYI, once they have your social # and if you arent able to pay the huge fees, they can treat you, then send the bill to collections which will destry your credit. This law was put in affect a year or two ago, it wasntnalways this way, hospitals used to be around to legit help people.

Pre op and surgery went well. Pac-u was fine. But when got to ward, i found no pain meds order written prior to trasfer and the regional block supposedly lastng 12 hours lasted only 2 and when i told staff i was feeling pain, they ignored me. When i began screaming in pain, they ignored me. When i told them i was about to pass out from pain, someone got an order for IV Dilaudid, which took 20-30 minutes to work. Zero coordination and bad patient care made for even worse trauma. My surgeon said nothing since he was uninvolved in my care. His team said nothing, hoping i wouldn't notice. No shame. No embarrassment. Nursing was good on my ward. But when i discharged, there was no attempt to go over my meds and give me a written summary of my pain meds so i had no idea when my last doses were given and what they were. I knew about 100 mg doses of Tramadol because the were helping my pain but no one went over my meds with me in detail. Nurses way too busy to spend such time. End result: i will not trust Dr Arthur or AMC with my care in future
surgery.

I live in Florida and unfortunately had a visit to the ER that resulted in emergency surgery. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. I am a RN myself and felt very comfortable and well taken care by all the staff. The RNs responded quickly to the call light and answered all my questions and addressed all my needs in a timely, professional and caring manner. It helped make a scary scenario manageable. I felt I was in good hands from beginning until discharge.

Everything was great except on Wednesday 2 doctors came in and visited with my family and myself. The said they were not going to do surgery on Thursday. One doctor went out and told the nursing staff that my procedure was cancelled. During the evening and through the night someone would come in and do something to get me prepped. I told them I was not having surgery and still continue. They should have gone and make sure it was cancelled or else call the doctor. I should not be charged for the procedures that were not necessary.

My friend Kim's sister is treated on an unfairly, regular basis for Stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has been a patient over 50 times since July 2014 and we would never suggest another hospital. No matter what department she is seen in, they are welcoming and a wonderful staff. The crew on 5C have been more than we ever could have hoped for. Kim spends nearly every day with her sister, and they have been so kind as to take her under their wing and care for her as well. I am so happy that we ended up with you. I will not refer people, nor would I seek services at any other hospital. That is even with SkyRidge being in my own backyard!

As usual the service I received was far above that of any other hospital I have had occasion to use. The staff were very professional and personal. The flow was fast and efficient. In any other facility I would have been there the balance of the day. I was only there for two hours start to finish for a Stat CT scan.
My wife and I are afraid all of that will change when the hospital opens.
It has been a well kept secret.

1 STAR ISNT WHAT I WISH TO PUT I WISH TO PUT 0 STAR FOR THIS SO CLLED HOSPITAL.

I recently lost both of my grandparents in this so called hospital they have here not even 60 days apart from each other. First my grandfather was admitted to the 3rd floor in the (ICU) and passed away on February 21st 2016 due to a massive stroke. Yet nothing was done to save him not even a single attempt .

My grandmother was taken here due to having a heat attach and passed away this afternoon (03/30/2016) when my grandmother was taken into the back and brought her to her room with freaking burses all over her body as if she was viciously attacked not to mention they punctured her throat so deep I couldn't believe my eyes as there was an extreme amount of blood pouring out of this tube. As it stayed in her mouth to keep sucking out the blood.

THEY KILLED MY GRANDMOTHER and my GRANDFATHER. This is the worst hospital you could ever walk into. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT COPMING HERE WHAT SO EVER. OR YOU WILL WISH YOU NEVER DID. I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO SEE JUSTICE. AS TWO SOULS HAS BEEN TAKEN AND I BE DAMED NOTHING HAPPENS TO THE DR. AND THE LITTLE SIMPS FOR NURSES THEY HAVE HERE

They couldn't even pass correct information from the dr. to the family not to mention during shift change to the other nurse coming on duty I couldn't believe my eyes. This is how they treat a Vietnam veteran who went through two wars to fight for our country and lived to talk about it. The only thing that mattered to this hospital was clearing out this room for another patient to die in. I though (ICU) does everything possible to help save a life and think off other options to try but not this hospital.

I have never witnessed so many unprofessional heartless people in my life who do nothing but snack all night and play games on the computer. If you are hurt Don't ever come to this hospital NO MATTER WHAT. Drive the extra hour if you have to get to the next hospital, it will be worth it. Because you will regret it if you don't.

Update1/23, you say to call your contant number but no one calls you back.... Poor service again.............. So, I was admitted to this hospital for chest and lower abdominal pain. The nurses on the forth floor of the hospital or rude and their bed side matter is absolutely horrible. I file a complaint with the head nurse on this floor and they fix it for a 2.5 seconds on top of the doctor order test that i didn't need and I better not see it on my bill I have been in so much pain and they act like I'm faking and dont want to help control the pain. This is supposed to a place to come to find out what's wrong not to be put down. Im not even 100% but I just ready to get the hell out of those trouble hospital. If you can avoid coming here I advise you to. They don't care about their patience.

Their pricing is unbelievable and they will not inform you about any charges. This is unethical. They charged me $6,200 to sit in an exam room for an hour. Insurance only covers a portion, so unless you are very wealthy or have amazing insurance, run!!! It's time to shed some light on these financial practices so people are not taken advantage of like this.

If you're a registered nurse look else where. This hospital is awful. Unless, you're from regis they treat you like crap and don't give you a chance. DO NOT BELIEVE the sign that tells you how long th...

DO NOT BELIEVE the sign that tells you how long the wait is at the ER. I was septic and had excruciating, unrelenting pain. I was dehydrated, nauseated, shaking, had a fast heart rate and low temperature. Classic symptoms of septicemia. The sign out front said the wait at the ER was about 5 minutes so I thought I was 5-10 minutes away from pain relief or hydration. WRONG.

After I waited to get through security and triage, I was then taken to another hidden waiting room that you can't see from the main intake area (so you have no idea when you go in how long the actual wait might be - do NOT be fooled by the empty-ish small "waiting room" that is just inside the security area - that is not the REAL waiting room).

I waited 2.5 hours in this crowded tiny waiting room to be seen or to get any pain meds or IV (I was very dehydrated and needed fluids badly). I was in absolute agony and was getting very light headed. I couldn't stand up all the way so when I tried to get water there was nothing close nearby and I was too light headed to walk. Incidentally this waiting room has no medical personnel in the line of sight. I was told later that someone monitors a video feed of that room. Cold comfort after the fact.

When my name was called, the triage person who walked me to the room walked way faster than I could go and at one point turned a corner and I had no idea where they were. I was light-headed and hobbling from the pain. But no wheelchair. Just "follow me" and I guess try to keep up. When I finally got seen and my blood pressure was taken it was very low. And then it took quite a while for a doctor to see me to get some pain meds on board. Probably 20-30 minutes at least and then longer for meds to be put in the IV.

I was later told the "5 minute wait" is just how long until they traige you (decide what priority you are). If someone determines that you can wait indefinitely, there is a (sometimes very long) additional wait that no one tells you about. VERY deceptive and VERY upsetting if you are tanking medically.

In addition, the guy who triaged me was not friendly in the least. He even gave me a look like "really?" when I said my pain was a 10 (and explained my reference pain scale based on past pain experiences). I was very out-of-it and had a hard time recalling everything. Since I'd been in the ER the week before, I asked him to please just look at my records from the week previous. He said twice that he "didn't have access" to them because he only did triage. Whhhhaaaaat? That was later confirmed to me to be BS. But this guy was totally phoning it in and did not take me or my symptoms seriously. I am actually psychologically traumatized by what transpired there that night.

GO literally ANYWHERE else if you need to go to the ER. The hospital stay I had after being admitted (because, again, septic ahem) was good and the actual hospital proper was a good experience (great nurses, CNAs and hospitalist). It doesn't outweigh this horrible night I spent in blinding pain for hours, with my blood pressure tanking, and thinking I was going to die and I was so close to help but none was available. Especially when I thought the wait would be about 5-10 minutes. That was crushing. I can never go to this ER again if I have no realistic idea how long my wait time will be or how many people are already waiting. And definitely won't go somewhere where the person doing triage doesn't recognize symptoms of septicemia or take a patient's report of pain seriously. And I can't go back somewhere where patients in extreme pain, dehydrated, nauseated, etc are not even looked in on by medical personnel during the long wait. That's just a bad outcome waiting to happen. But hey, wait time is only 5 minutes!

The wife and I have utilized this facility several times in the last two years. Once for heart attack and others for diagnostic testing. ER, intervention cardiologist and IC room care was outstanding and all personnel helpful and amiable. Nurse stations and lab personnel likewise are pleasant to deal with and give you their full attention. We also want to complement the welcoming front desk and custodial personnel for the pleasant personalities displayed as well. Some facilities in downtown Denver could learn from them. Our visits thus far have been flawless. We are glad you are nearby TMCA!

Updated 10/23/2020: Had a procedure requiring anesthesia and a few hours stay. All staff performed flawlessly as in the past. TMCA is still our first choice for hospital care!

If i could give negative stars, I would! This is the WORST hospital I have ever been to in my 28 years of life!
Someone is going to die in that emergency waiting area! They are slow, they stand far back at the desk and call names as quietly as they can. And the blonde receptionist that wears too much cheap perfume and too much makeup is a very rude and disrespectful woman! I came in on a very possible miscarriage and she treated me horribly. Copped attitude and then I walked away and she once again got rude with me.
If you want to be seen and treated, go anywhere but here! Im losing my baby and after and hour and a half and watching many others with a "flu" go before me... I left.
