A supervisor at the Maple Counseling Center named ...

A supervisor at the Maple Counseling Center named Lori Karny LCSW, MSG ended my therapy sessions with Andrew DiConcetto after I told him that I m struggling with suicidal ideation.
She told me on the phone that I needed to find a new place for therapy but when I told her that I need time to find a new therapist she responded it s not her problem and when I told her that I m suicidal, she hung up the phone on me and then she blocked my number and blocked my email and instructed everyone including Andrew at the Maple Counseling Center to stop responding to my phone calls and emails.
I must ve left 20 voicemails in the past few weeks and just as many emails but none of them were returned. I was so desperate to not have access to my therapist while struggling with suicidal ideation that I attempted suicide.
I tried to get in touch with the clinical director Marianne Callahan, Ph.D., LMFT after my suicide attempt but she did not return any of my phone calls or emails.
This place is run by a bunch of sociopathic people who have no intention to help anyone.
I am reporting them to the board of psychology, the board of behavioral sciences, the Better Business Bureau, and I am taking them to court for emotional abuse and neglect.
Below are pictures of my therapist Andrew DiConsetto and Lori Karny who denied me access to him after I became suicidal.

This place is in the basement for a reason!! This place is proudly sponsored by the Weinstien's. Its VERY close to being shut down and for good reason! If you thought you had problems before--the MAPLE center will show you that they're there for CASH or hours--they DONT CARE about 'clients'

This place has mixed reviews, I think the most negative ones are complaints that are coming from a irrational place. Truth is, this is staffed with students and volunteers so they do their best. The actual therapists when I went have been getting their degrees and meeting the requirements of certain amount of in person hours. If you are looking for one with longstanding experience this is not the place, that does not discredit the work they offer and the service to your needs.

They are fresh in knowledge and eager to be attentive, as they also work under a large group of supervisors that are licensed. From what I remember, the sessions are recorded to maintain the guidance of these students on their way to getting their professional credentials. Essentially, these factors also play into why they offer such an open scale for payments. They ask that you do you best to provide your donation fee to cover the costs.

I would say that in my 6 months solid weekly sessions, that I got what I needed. I saw a few different therapists and then was able to settle into my one. This is my experience, not sure how much if any things have changed, however I would recommend this place for those who are looking for short term and on a budget. Best of luck in your self care and the pursuit of therapy and healing.

I suppose some reviewers had really bad experiences. If you know that these are primarily interns you will be seeing before you make any appointment that would help a lot. My experience was very positive. They worked with a living scale and found a fee that was quite reasonable considering my very tight budget. They encouraged me to find one of their therapists that fit me instead of just taking whomever they assigned. I ended up seeing someone after they left the center and have stayed with her ever since and she didn't even raise my fee very much at all at her private practice. I go a lot of accomplished there and continue to with my current therapist who came from there,

They never helped me.... Basically threw my issues out the window... If you are in desperate need of services they lack empathy and compassion for you... I would give them no stars... They basically say your not good enough for them while they smile in your face.. I cried after they told me I wasn't good enough for them.... They call me back and say oh your accepted and we will have a therapist call you... Got me all excited.... Then boom they call me the next day and said oh your not good enough.... Which crushed me all over again.... Oh and then sent me to a county place which was not happening... Plus I had to call them back because they gave me a wrong number.... If your in need of services go somewhere else.... Hopefully I'll find someone to help me with some services.... Until then im going to keep looking.... Hopefully this helps someone else...

Unprofessional and inexperienced staff, claustrophobic offices located in the basement of a dilapidated office building. After completing the required paperwork to see a counselor and making numerous follow-up calls I was simply "lost in the shuffle' and not contacted for over 4 months. Finally, after making 2 additional in person visits, I was able to start seeing a therapist. However, unfortunately, most of the staff here are inexperienced, and frankly poorly educated & trained, interns - despite still charging upwards of $150 per session. Unless you are seeking ways to test your patience and frustration - AVOID.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!! This happened a number of years ago. I went there because of problems with my daughter that her father was creating. He was a known sociopath, who lies and manipulates to get his way and turn my daughter and people against me, which is why I was having problems with her. They assigned me to some Iranian lady that could barely speak any English. I explained to her the situation with my daughter s father about the lies and stories he makes up to turn my daughter against me and he is a clear Sociopath. She told me she d like to meet him in the next meeting. I thought that was kind of strange but at the same time I was vulnerable, and let him know. Mind you, I told her the reason I am having problems with my daughter is because he is a sociopath who manipulates and makes false accusations against me . I think these people should be educated in what sociopaths are. When he came in the room the first thing she asked him is what do you think of what s going on with all this? First thing out of his mouth were false accusations with nothing to back it up. She wasn t even smart enough to see through him. A moron can see through him, and she was warned already. She called department of children services on me which could ve landed my daughter taken away and into the system. Department of Childrens Services came to investigate, and found the accusations completely unfounded and dropped everything. I m glad they were competent enough to see through it. It was a moment I never want to relive. Stay away, they will not help your family they will destroy it!!

I ve used Maple Counseling Center for both talk therapy and psychological services for over a year and a half. They they are very fair with pricing and easy to work with. I ve worked with three different people in treatment and all have been awesome. There was one point where they had a lapse in finding a full time psychologist when their had changed practices, but I feel they handled it pretty smoothly considering and the person they found for the interim was actually better. Definitely a more consistent, professional, and caring option than my experiences working with MediCal mental health services and Kaiser. This center has made a tremendous positive impact on mine and my family s life.

maple center is really a place where they train cowards rather than therapists. An acquaintance of mine recommended i try contacting this place. They give me a short 15 minute interview, were very quick to charge me $65 for it, and a few days later they turn me away by telephone giving some cockeyed excuse that they are "only students". Of course they gave me a few referrals which were also dead ends.

But it's understandable whats going on with the therapy profession today. It is mostly just tongue and cheek window dressing. You know what happens when I try to contact "therapists" that arent "students"? They will usually give one of 3 excuses for not dealing with you. My favorite one is, "My practice is full" Then there's one I called who after only one or two questions by telephone immediately got intimidated and referred my to someone who wasnt even a therapist!--just a medication prescriber. And who was just as expensive as the one who referred me would have been if i ever could have been one of the lucky few who could have ever met with her. Then of course theyll just outright tell you, "I charge about $500.00 a session." And how many people can really afford those kinds of fees? And these werent even "students" i was contacting!!!

These are likely the kinds of therapists the maple center is producing. Perhaps the therapy profession is dead as we know it. Therapists today are mostly trained to fill their wallets, not to accept challenges. Even the person who referred me to the maple center did not end up any better off after two years of getting service there than when he/she first started going there! They likely only accepted him/her because of some college connection. So try the maple center at your own risk. If you display any signs of having any real problems, i wouldn't bother dealing with them. Theyll likely take your money and turn you away.

But maybe it's just as well that they turned me away. Although I havent dealt with too many therapists in my life on an intimate basis, the more i deal with them, the more I realize that most of them are even crazier than I am. So maybe I'm better off.
