Made a sunny Saturday trip to have a meal outdoors on the patio. Sat for 25 minutes with no service no checkin, just water from the hostess. Asked hostess about service on the patio, she seemed surprised no one had come. 10 minutes passed, still nothing except the server spending time bussing and dumping the cups of water from the table she bussed into the bushes. Left frustrated, not at all run like a well run restaurant should be. Disappointing.

I primarily went to the restaurant, Territories, which is excellent. The atmosphere from outside is wonderful, as the ambiance added by the sounds of nature and the temperature from the water is peaceful. The food is great, perfectly cooked and using non frozen ingredients. I highly recommend this place.

Would strongly recommend staying here. We came for a long weekend of wine tasting with our dog. They were able to clean the hot tub between each use so we felt more safe during COVID to use it. Good breakfast, fun town to grab food/drinks (assuming they're open), and a great location close to the river. I wish we could have enjoyed the rooftop deck more. Either way, Matt was very helpful, particularly when we came back from a walk in the rain with the dog and needed a towel so we weren't getting water everywhere. Matt was able to get an old towel they were going to get rid of and just gave it to us to clean the dog. Very nice. Would stay here again.

This place is off to a great start! From talking to the front desk personnel their official grand opening isnt until next month. However they were able to accommodate many of the attendees of an in town conference to stay before the grand opening. Rooms are beautiful! In room amenities include Peet's Coffee and good quality toiletries! Staff are very friendly and provide great customer service. Few things to note are that I had a gigantic hole above the toilet, assuming that they still needed to install a vent and hot tub wasn't in working condition. I would be curious to see if this place keeps up on the quality of products and service they offer their clientele and what the price will be.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. No detail unnoticed. It was superbly clean and well kept. The rooms are breathtaking. The rooftop fireplace gathering area was very unique and a great place to gather with friends. Beautiful views of the Willamette River and a short walk to adorable downtown Independence, filled with fun shops and great food. Would LOVE the chance to stay here again.

There was something lacking in the ambience. The staff was wonderful, the food was good, although the process size was a little slender for the cost. There was no music playing and the ceilings are too high without ambient music in the background to distract from the echo. Looking forward to returning, though.

This was an amazing place to stay. Rooms are beautiful and spotless. Staff was friendly. They allowed our large dog and late arrival. The breakfast set up is great and all measures were taken to ensure staff and gueat safety. Thank you. The proie was surprisingly low for the quality but that means we will be back.

We didn't actually get to stay here, we actually went there to eat in the restaurant there, Territory. We did explore the hotel and it was beautiful and immaculate! Amazing staff. It's located right on the Willamette River. Ever so peaceful in the center of the cute little town of Independence!

We celebrated my birthday here, and had a wonderful dinner! A little pricey but the food was perfect! The steaks were cooked perfectly, appetizer plate was excellent and my son said the Mac and cheese entree was fantastic!

We absolutely love our stays at the Independence Hotel. So many good things to write about it's hard to know where to start. The staff are friendly, gregarious, and truly enjoyable to interact with, especially in the restaurant. We have eaten there many times now, and haven't had a single dish we didn't love (favorites are the pesto sandwich, spinach artichoke dip, and cheesecake). The rooms are beautiful, clean, spacious, and intentionally designed (we especially love how soft the beds are). At present, the hotel has taken many precautions to make sure guests and staff are kept safe, and we have even stayed twice just since the pandemic began and had zero concerns either time. The rooftop and beautiful river views are serious bonuses, and the hotel has a calm, serene vibe that is perfect for a getaway/recharge.
We look forward to our future stays in this lovely hotel.

Absolutely stunning. Ate dinner and toured a visiting family members room and was completely blown away and impressed by how nice everything was. From the headboards to the room decor it was a very inviting room. Dinner was great, but our server was even more memorable. Very friendly and patient! We live local, but will be finding excuses to go stay often. Highly recommend if you want a luxury feel that's not at luxury price!

Very plush, have seen and stayed
In a number of hotels some high dollar but the independence hotel was priced reasonably and was more plush then the more expensive ones and as for the staff I can't say enough about how nice and friendly they are , the best people I have dealt with for a long time. If your in town stop by spend the night you won't be sorry!!!! Darrel

Although this is a beautiful hotel in an amazing setting, the food was so-so, and the hotel manager was less than helpful with errors made by staff regarding room charges. The hotel can be very noisy with people going in and out all night allowing the door to slam each time. There are no windows that can be opened in the rooms because the hotel has continuous circulating climate control throughout the building that's going constantly. Neither the laundry room washer or the soft drink machine were working. Housekeeping department was excellent. Location could not be better with riverfront trails everywhere, a beautiful park and nearby dog park, not to mention the very charming town of Independence. Just a little more attention to detail and customer service will go along way to make this a great destination.

The Independence Hotel is fantastic! The rooms are beautiful, unique, spacious, and comfortable. Staff members and house keeping are kind and quick to respond. Rooms and public areas are kept extremely clean. There's a rooftop where you can go to eat and drink and take in the beautiful view of the river and surrounding area. The restaurant, Territory, has delicious food and plenty of outdoor seating. The Independence Hotel has got it all.

What a great place ! We only live about an hour in a half away but we are right in the city. We wanted a quite romantic weekend away from all the city and work stress! This place let's you use the hot tub by appointment which is awesome cuz our Apartments has the pool fitness center and the hot tub closed because of covid! I do feel the hot tub could be a little hotter it did feel like lukewarm bath water but it was still nice to use!

The staff has been super friendly and have answered all of our questions. The restaurant in the hotel was very nice and convenient. I think it's called territory. The staff was all so wonderful and friendly ! My boyfriend absolutely loved the brussel sprouts we got as an appetizer! I got the fish and chips it was absolutely delicious except the breading on the fish was underdone but I just took it of and ate the fish. The fries are actually really delicious I couldn't stop eating them they had a great crunch and flavor! My boyfriend got the shirmp sandwich it was absolutely delicious when I tryed a bite of his sandwich I wished I had ordered that instead of the fish and chips but it was all very yummy!

It was pretty awesome they let our drinks come back with us to the room and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. We got the biscuits and gravy .comes with bacon and scrambled eggs! Your drink options are coffee ,tea, orange juice or cranberry juice. I love chocolate milk so that would have been nice if chocolate milk or hot chocolate could have been an option!

We tried the Redgate Winery which was pretty cool they had a live band but unfortunately their seating isn't so great so we had to sit outside and it was raining, windy and cold we did not stay long but the bottle of wine we purchased was delicious! It was nice that it wasn't far from the hotel.

Our trip away from home has been wonderful! I absolutely love how peaceful and quiet the hotel is. I always bring my own feather pillow from home because I have a hard time sleeping in hotels but I actually didn't even really use my pillow all that much here . Their bedding and pillows were very comfortable! Everything is super clean! I would like to give a shout out to all the housekeepers for how very clean the room and common areas are. I used to be a housekeeper and I know how unappreciated and under paid that work is. Hope the management and owner recognized what a wonderful housekeeping staff they have!

Overall I would say the only thing that would make this hotel even greater would be having room service and adding robes and slippers to the rooms and the Hotel restaurant being open later! However the early closing is probably due to covid. Things are so limited now. We decided we wanted dessert after all and the restaurant had already closed. We tried to get dessert delivered with Uber Eats but everything was 45 to 60 minutes away. They hotel has a spa but also closed due to covid. We would have loved to get massages! Unfortunately life just isn't what it use to be anymore but we had a fantastic trip and we will definitely come back!

I cannot praise The Independence Hotel enough! My husband and I got married at the Green Villa Garden just down the road from the hotel on September 1st of this year, and decided to have a wedding weekend stay at the hotel. They accommodated our entire wedding party and our friends and family from out of town. We were one of the first guests to stay here and received the most amazing attention and care throughout the whole process, from booking, to getting a tour, and the actual stay.

The building is beautifully made, including all the design details from the lights to the headboards and art on the walls. The staff was kind and helpful. The truly made our wedding weekend even more special!

A highlight is the rooftop, where the night before the wedding our friends and family had a fun evening together around the outdoor fire pit.

If you re thinking of staying here during your wedding weekend (or any other time for that matter), I highly recommend. My husband and I cannot wait to return to celebrate our anniversary here one day.

Did not stay here, came in to check out breakfast. We were a tad disappointed, not by the food which was delicious, but with the hotels choice to change over to a buffet only breakfast during the weekdays, with no a la carte ordering. This was unfortunately nowhere on the website, so we didn't find that out until we came in. The hotel is beautiful, with lovely views and a very modern and bike friendly vibe. Service was quick and friendly. They do have a rooftop area, but it has no bar or food (unless you do a private event). We will be back, as this place appears to be comfortable and have great food.

Beautiful new hotel shopping the river. Great views, great staff, and clean. Quiet rooms with great design features. Well worth the value, would give it 5 stars if the i wasn't hit by the intense seafood smell during dinner hours- seafood isn't my thing and it's a stirring scent.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's right on the river, it's quiet, it's new and pretty. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We at at the restaurant (actually, we ordered from the restaurant, but ate on the roof, which was wonderful), and the food was really delicious. Even Independence was interesting; the downtown area has some great shops (coffee, ice cream, handmade candy, new pub, bookstore, and much more) that we strolled through. Highly recommend it.

This place was spectacular! The room was clean, nice, and amazing! The reason of the 2 star... the breakfast. If you want to open a hotel, open a hotel. If you don t, dont. But don t open a hotel when your not ready. Their breakfast was disappointing! For $200 a night, I had to ask TWICE for a cup of coffee, and had to go make toast, when the servers are supposed to make it for you. Good hotel, terrible breakfast. The Eggs were soggy, the bacon had so much grease and no bread underneath to soak up the grease. We re out of sausage, and the head chef was walking around complaining about the lights! The only good server was a nice old woman who we didn t have to ASK to get a cup of coffee.

We have stayed here five times since it opened. Obviously we like it since we keep coming back. Things we would like to see in the room include TV and channel info, location of ice machines, directions for how to access the roof. We also think the height of the room chairs is low for us older folks. Breakfast is so much better than the normal free hotel breakfast.

Staff went above and beyond to get my hungry kids something to eat when the kitchen was about to close and it was amazing. They also got me juice at 5 am when my kids were up early. Rooms were very clean and bright. Everyone was friendly. I enjoyed the gym and the hot tub. Food was great. Will definitely return!
