Nice location. Only complaint is that there are no speakers outdoors so wasn't able to play music which was pretty disappointing. The little speaker system that they brought out there was pre Bluetooth so most apple products couldn't use it and the aux cable was broken.

Th Hodo is one of my favorite places to stay. They rooms are amazing with exposed brick, original artwork, and huge windows Thier beds are very comfortable with awesome sheets and bedding. At 5:00 they have a social hour with cheese meats fruits and beverages. Nightly turn down service includes amazing truffles, and fresh ice. As well as local soothing music on your Bose sound system. Morning coffee and warm pastries are delivered directly to your room at the time of your choice. Their restaurant is award Winning uses mostly local products. The rain shower is invigorating with all Aveda products.

We love visiting the Hodo. We stayed in room 7, and unlike the first time we stayed in this particular room, the music across the street was not too loud, nor were the people. Having a sound machine and ear plugs just in case was a good move though.

I came in expecting a wonderful experience, and I must say that it fell very short. My room came out to about $260 for one night. I came to check in at the designated 4 pm time and one hour later, I was still waiting to be put in my room. The gentleman who was running the front desk was great, but seemed to be avoiding the other residents waiting after awhile. Upon getting into the room, hours later, the initial thought was that it was wonderful. It soon fell short. The bed wasn't made. There was only a flat sheet in place of a fitted sheet, stained mattress pad, and a comforter. There were no other blankets (or a complete set of sheets for that matter) available. The jets in the tub, which is a main focal point as it fills from the ceiling, didnt work. There were lots of crumbs in the couch as well. All in all, the room was a massive disappointment for how much I had to pay. If you're looking for a creative and different atmosphere, go for it. If you're looking for a quality room, I definitely didn't find it here.

We visited the Hodo bar after a work party and had a great time. It was not too busy, the server was attentive, and even went the extra mile with a special request. We are repeat customers and will continue to visit.

My husband and I just wanted a romantic couple weekend, there were problems from the start when our reservation was entered into their system wrong. Eventually Chris fixed it and most of the staff was great, however, since the hotel is across from the only abortion clinic in ND, the protesters didn t exactly start the days off in a romantic way. The room is ok, but pretty run down, stains on ottoman and other places, make up mirror light is broken, the drain on the bathtub is also broken and the water pressure is lacking, but since the drain is broken it fills the tub while you shower. They also lost our room service order. All in all not worth the money.

If this place wants to continue to act like the classiest place in Fargo, then maybe they should provide the service to back it up. We waited for over 20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge our presence, and by then it was the manager sucking up to us because he realized we had been ignored. The drinks were mediocre at best, and the waitress screwed up our tab three times. Best part was, it was a Wednesday night and the place wasn't even half-full. I can't even imagine what the service would be like if it was a busy night. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

A boutique hotel, restaurant, roof top bar, and lounge all in 1. Love it. The rooms are all differently designed around the art in the rooms. The beds will swallow you in comfort. Even the subtle smell of the rooms are favorable. And, the staff will treat you the way you deserve to be treated.

When we arrived we stood in the main lobby waiting to be seated. After 10 minutes we went to the lounge to ask if there is someone to show us to their seats . Then we were told we had to enter the restaurant even though there was a podium and computer with the layout of the restaurant's seating arrangement. Once we were seated we were greeted a few minutes after with our waitress taking our glasses and filling them with water. After she introduced herself she left and came back once or twice asking if we needed more time to look at the menu. After we picked our appetizers she said she would be able to take our entree order as well and space it out with enough time for us to eat the appetizer and then enjoy our meal . We received our drinks from the bar and were left waiting for the appetizers to show up. Our waitress didn't come to let us know that there would be a wait for our app's. The 4 of us had almost finished with our drinks when I appetizers finally arrived. We ordered our appetizers from the descriptions given about each one but received less than what was advertised on their menu. After we finished our appetizers we waited for another 20 to 30 minutes before our meals came out. The waitress passed around each one of our food and we notice that there was a meal missing. The waitress had not ordered the correct food Being very apologetic she said she would be right back with the correct plate. After the mixup the four of us had various temperatures in our meals. The worst part was having to pay half for the missing meal.

Great service and amenities, friendly staff, clean and gorgeous rooms themed around local artists. Absolutely beautiful facility and wonderful place to stay. There is street noise from the downtown activity that you may hear while trying to get to sleep, but the rooms have multiple shades on the windows so you are able to block out the sun in the morning. Great turn-down service with delicious handmade truffles.

I went to the restaurant, but did not stay in the hotel. The food was amazing! Every single thing we tried was delicious (drinks, appetizers, and deserts--I don't remember the specific ones). The atmosphere was cozy (perfect for date night!) And our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly.

Because I travel for work, I have been to 46 states and literally have stayed in thousands of hotels across the country...Hotel Donaldson is absolutely one of the finest places I have stayed. The rooms are modern and cool as each room features artwork from a different artist. Every evening there is a wine and cheese spread for the guests to enjoy. This boutique hotel would measure up well even if it were in downtown Manhattan!

The Hotel Donaldson is an essential part of Fargo's downtown identity. They have a fantastic restaurant, lounge, and hotel all in one building, equipped with a friendly and professional staff. I highly recommend one of their signature cocktails and/or staying at the hotel if you are looking for a unique and memorable experience.

Was there for a social reading event. The staff was super courteous! They provided free snacks and a hot mug of tea that really hit the spot! Very quick with any additional requests and just made the whole time wonderful. The rooftop was very relaxing and I hope they do another event like this again!

Myself and a friend were in Fargo for another friends celebration of life. Our stay at the Hotel Donaldson was wonderful. This is a unique, elegant hotel to be a guest at. I would, and do, recommend the Hotel Donaldson when people ask me where to stay in Fargo.

Nice atmosphere, well appointed, liked the decorum. My wife loved her spicy blood orange martini, they make their own simple syrup infused with Jabenero peppers. Nice Kick. Didn't try the food but everything going by looked good.

Great little hotel with very friendly staff. They did a beautiful job of renovating the building but keeping original touches. The room was very comfortable but did have a bit of street noise being in a busy part of downtown. They have a nice little evening reception for guests and a very well done turndown service in the evening. It's valet only parking, they don't have a parking lot. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

A five course meal in the restaurant, with the wine pairings provided by our server, dessert on the rooftop overlooking downtown Fargo, and a drink in the bar at the end of our night all contributed to an experience you absolutely cannot get anywhere else in Fargo. Couple the unique infrastructure with top-of the line service and fantastic local foods and there is no question that the HoDo is the premiere dining experience in the city.

I love going here on nights when there is a local act playing at the restuarant! Its a fun, great atmosphere in the heart of Downtown Fargo. The food is unique and great, as well as the service!

We stayed for several nights. It was a very pleasant surprise as I wasn't the one who had chosen our quarters (I know lucky gal!). We loved the art on display. Our room size was more than adequate. The linens were well-chosen...a great thread count. I appreciated that attention to detail. The slate tiled walk in shower felt relaxing and spa-like. Oh, yes, we enjoyed having the rooftop balcony to ourselves, enjoying the starlit view. The Hotel Donaldson is more of a boutique hotel like I'd come to love in Europe. Highly recommend!

First the good... We love art and modern design and The Donaldson certainly delivered there. The bed and linens were nice, and everything was clean. They had Avada bath products which was amazing! The sub par... The valet parking was a bit strange, I waited for a long time until my fiance went inside to check what was going on. Apparently you need to find a parking space out front, and then bring them the keys to move it to a ramp. This might be okey, but I've got a truck and if I'm going to pay for valet I don't want to parallel park it on a busy street. We had dinner in the lounge. The food was okey, but the server was unbelievably rude which put a damper on the fun. We ordered room service for breakfast. The oat meal dish and egg scramble were very good, but the sausage was cold and seemed possibly under cooked, and the fruit plate had grapes that tasted spoiled. When we left, no one asked us how are stay was, so I guess they just don't care.

The HoDo is an incredible downtown dining option. It boasts unique cocktails, live music, and great service. We had the lobster fettuccine and the wild rice burger, which were both excellent! A beautiful place to celebrate an occasion and dine in downtown Fargo.

Didn't stay at the hotel (which looked nice), but had a wonderful dinner on the roof top. Excellent cocktail selection and yummy small plates. The onion rings were the best I've had anywhere. Roasted olive dish was delicious, as were the deserts. A somewhat adventurous menu, in the best way possible. We spent two nights in Fargo, didn't know what to expect, and were very happy to find this place!
