The Heinz Endowments is a private foundation that was established in 1941 by H.J. Heinz II, the founder of the H.J. Heinz Company. The foundation is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in southwestern Pennsylvania since its inception.
The Endowments’ mission is to help our region become a just and equitable community where all can thrive and to advance knowledge and practice in philanthropy. The foundation works towards this goal by supporting organizations that promote social justice, environmental sustainability, arts & culture, education, and economic development.
One of the key areas of focus for The Heinz Endowments is promoting equity across all aspects of society. This includes addressing issues such as racial inequality, poverty, access to healthcare and education, affordable housing, environmental justice, and more.
To achieve these goals, The Endowments provides funding for a wide range of initiatives across southwestern Pennsylvania.
