An amazing organization I was proud to volunteer for during my 2011-2012 Americorps NCCC term of service. They instilled in me a love of nature, conservation, and working for something bigger than myself. All around a great group of people.

The Grand Canyon Trust is doing critically important work in efforts to defend the lands, which cannot speak for themselves, from monied interests. There are benefits to keeping our natural lands un-irradiated and un-mined. This group is important to protecting those lands.

This organization is providing vital advocacy for a national treasure which needs urgent protection. Their dedication to protecting the plateau s landscapes, rivers, clean air, and public lands from being mined for coal, oil shale, tar sands, and uranium is essential. If this land is developed for mining, it would not only exacerbate climate change - it would wreak havoc on one of the most important American landmarks.

I have so much respect for the work the Grand Canyon Trust organization does. It's a unique platform that has a lot of appeal to me as a half-Navajo person originally from Grand Canyon Village, but has spent most of my life in California. I have family and friends who live at and around the Grand Canyon, and I hope to move back in my future. So I care for what is happening there. Grand Canyon Trust's website makes it easy for me to stay informed and support efforts from afar that protect the Grand Canyon's environmental health. I also love how they center and elevate Native voices and perspectives throughout their reporting and work.

Keep up the awesome work in protecting the Grand Canyon, its waters, its land, people and surrounding areas. NO to dams, trams, mines, contamination, waste, development! I hope your work will allow my future great, great, great, great (get the point) grandkids to visit and see this place as amazing or better than it is today!

About The Grand Canyon Trust

The Grand Canyon Trust is a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to the conservation and environmental advocacy of the Grand Canyon and Colorado Plateau for over 30 years. The organization was founded in 1985 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the need to protect this unique and fragile ecosystem from threats such as mining, logging, and development.

Since its inception, The Grand Canyon Trust has worked tirelessly to protect the natural beauty of this region while also advocating for policies that promote sustainable use of its resources. Through research, education, and advocacy efforts, the organization has become a leading voice in the fight to preserve one of America's most iconic landscapes.

One of The Grand Canyon Trust's primary goals is to ensure that future generations can enjoy this natural wonder as much as we do today. To achieve this goal, they work with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop policies that balance conservation with responsible economic development.

The organization's work includes protecting wildlife habitats from encroaching development; promoting sustainable land use practices; advocating for clean air and water standards; supporting renewable energy initiatives; preserving cultural heritage sites; and educating visitors about responsible recreation practices.

In addition to their advocacy efforts on behalf of the environment, The Grand Canyon Trust also conducts research into issues related to conservation in the region. Their team of scientists works closely with local communities and government agencies to gather data on topics such as climate change impacts on wildlife populations or water quality issues affecting local ecosystems.

Through their educational programs, The Grand Canyon Trust seeks to raise awareness about environmental issues facing our planet today. They offer workshops for students at all levels - from elementary school through college - on topics ranging from ecology basics like plant identification or animal behavior studies up through more advanced topics like climate change science or policy analysis techniques.

Overall, The Grand Canyon Trust is an essential player in protecting one of America's most iconic landscapes while also promoting sustainable economic development practices throughout the region. Their tireless work ensures that future generations will be able to enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer while also preserving it for years yet come.
