Just to add, good was great and excellent service. Jak, our waiter, was very helpful, polite and funny. Overheard us mention re birthday within our party and brought a dessert with Happy Birthday written on it. Highly recommend.

I held a surprise party at the Fox for my parents 40th wedding anniversary and I have to say everything was perfect! The service was second to none, the food was hot, fresh and delicious. We had plenty to choose from on the hot buffet with lots of it. No one went home hungry that s for sure!
I did not get the name of the chap helping with our event but have to mention how unbelievably fantastic and attentive he was. Nothing was too much trouble. I have super high expectations and the Fox not only managed my expectations they absolutely blew me away!

Poor service - wrong starter then long wait for correct one - soggy batter on fish and dried up peas. Greasy cold chips - unable to recommend.

The food was amazing and well presented..unfortunately it's quite pricey..

They have a machine to look at your feet properly. Some trainers in sale. I'll goback

We live really nearby and have been to the Fox 5+ times. I'm really sorry to say it has gotten worse each visit.

We decided to go as it had been re-decorated and there was 40% off mains. I'll summarise the experience;
1. We had to wait for a booked table (not long but still not perfect).
2. Our table was central in the room, only had 1 chair on it for some reason and no knives or forks so had to stand in the restraunt waiting.
The table foot came off and almost threw the candle etc before we had even sat down, adding to the wait.
3. Service was generally slow. Again I appreciate it was busy but has to be said.
4. I asked if they didnt mind swapping the fries for broccoli off the sides menu as they were the same price. I was told no it's extra and ended up with both.
5. After asking where the food was due to the wait it arrived and would give it 3 maybe 4 out of 10. Wish I'd taken photos but the burger had old brown lettuce. And the smallest bit of onion and gherkin I've ever seen.
The steak was grissly, sauce was watery, all a bit sub standard.
Starters weren't good either. We had ordered the same in the past and got much bigger portions and better presentation.

We paid because we ate it. But won't be going again till we hear it's improved. Would of given it 9/10 a year ago.

Stayed for Lunch on our way to Leeds Bradford Airport for our holiday in Turkey. Popped in by chance for Sunday Roast lovely food and friendly staff. Will definitely stop again. Nice pub/restaurant. Nice start to our hols thank you.

Really great pub with a brilliant food offer. The Sunday roasts are excellent, as is a steak dinner as an evening meal.

Shared a board of good food by the open fire. Excellent Friday night.

The lunch was just ok. We were unable to order the food we wanted due to a problem in the kitchen. So they charged us more for ordering an alternative (on a different menu) which was their issue and not ours. So not too thrilled with this. We won't be rushing back.

Lovely cosy pub and restaurant. Open fires in the winter. Drinks reasonably priced, food good.

We had an excellent Sunday roast beef an d roast chicken.

Although the wait for the food was long after ordering the food itself was exceptional! What a wonderful meal.

Went before Christmas and it was very busy. Food was fine, but for the price you would expect that. Service was okay, but not great.

Great food, lovely place and well thought out social distancing. Definitely worth a visit.

A fantastic pub with a smart interior and excellent food and cosy atmosphere.

We had a table for 8 booked for 1700hrs we got seated at 1730 and ordered the meat platter, after a long wait the platter arrived minus pork crackling/pigs in blankets and stuffing this was followed shortly with the veg then the plates arrived with no serving spoons mean while the food was fast going cold. I can only assume our waitress had never had any form of training we also saw a chef come out of the kitchen he looked scruffy and untidy. I will never ever go to Fox again as it is such a poor standard

Great food though a little pricey for drinks though, so more a place to eat than a drinking pub.

Pretty poor as pub meals go. Bad service, very slow and the food was just average. Unimpressed

Friendly, local bar. Good, relaxed atmosphere. Yes, a bit pricey but worth it.

Just had dinner there. SF Chicken and Wagyu burger. Very good pint of Guiness too. Staff, service and atmosphere just right for an early dinner.

I really enjoy the food here, but it can be a bit slow. Probably time to change the really annoying salt/pepper shakers.

Really torn with this place....sometimes one of the best and most tasty sunday roasts, but the worst fish and chips known to man, anemic and tastless. Again their burgers are superb, really tasty but the actual meet is about half the size it should be....scrimping!!! Staff are nice though and look after you and beers are great. Overall i would give 50% of dishes 9/10 and the other 50% at 5 or under. They need to do something and its definatley overpriced.

Bustling pub with a high end feel. Convenient location. We didn't eat but the food smelled really good. Good selection of lagers.

Very good food at a reasonable price. Well presented interior with beer garden and ample car parking. Will go again..

Disappointed with the food. Small portions, not good value for money.

The burger was small and overdone. The breaded brie was excellent. The mini desserts are actually a decent portion, and tasty. The service was excellent.

Lovely setting... ..friendly staff.....tasty deserts.... Soup could have been warmer French fries over cooked and fish cakes lacked any real taste. Main concern was far too long between courses

Went here on route back from a day out and would definitely visit again. Lovely atmosphere and cosy roaring fire in the middle of winter. Staff were very professional and friendly and service was great. We only stopped for drinks and dessert which were high standard and lovely

Went for Sunday lunch, veg was hard and the chicken was dry. Overpriced and poor quality.

Is local for us as easy to walk here. Find drinks expensive. Meals also expensive for what you get. Menu is nothing out of the ordinary. As with most pubs these days all vegetable sides are chargeable on top of main meal. An annoyance to me.

Booked over a week beforehand and asked if they could do group of 10 for a birthday
Told yes if we had separated tables and didn t mix, that was fine
Very annoying to be told on the day they could not honour that, used as a local before but won t rush back

AS the years creep up on you, change becomes a more difficult matter to handle.
Things that stay the same are comfortable, change means reassessing your approach to life.
Only7 months ago I was giving The Fox five-star reviews and then they decided to change - change my local !
New layout, new furniture, new beers - it was all change at The Fox and didn't like it one bit and grandly told the new management under Heather that we would darken their doors no more.
Being much too polite to tell me to stop sulking like a spoilt old brat, Heather pointed out that all out favourite staff were still there, the chef was still there and presenting an improved menu and there were still comfortable spots for old farts like me to settle and muse.
And of course she was right and I have swallowed my pride, returned tail between legs and the love affair with The Fox has resumed.

The food is delicious but, the few times I have went, the wait for the food was at least an hour and the place wasn't busy. Service needs to be quicker!

The food was good but over priced and we had to wait an hour between the starter and main course. The soft drinks were also very expensive . It was okay but wouldn't personally choose to eat there again.

Variety or seating arrangements with a great menu. Offers first course, mains and desert.

Book ahead, it's popular.

This pub is warm, cosy and beautifully decorated, the restaurant area looks amazing, my partner and I have only recently started to go to the Fox on a Friday evening so haven't eaten there yet, the staff are all friendly and very efficient, always greeted with a smile
