The Emerge Center has been an amazing resource for my son. I have seen so much improvement in his speech and his overall confidence. This center is a state of the art facility! Complete with an OT gym and playground he loves! The speech therapist have been so loving and wonderful with him. I don't know of anywhere else that offers a group speech program. It is so beneficial and most importantly my son loves to go and is thriving!
I had to pull my son because of their horrible billing system but also for their lack of care and rigidness towards these children. My son grew to hate it there. One day he followed an aid into a closet in the ABA room and his finger was slammed in the heavy old metal doors. He cried for most the day and this happened just after drop off. No one bothered to call. When I picked him up I had to run all over getting him into a doctor to check out his smashed finger. Also one day I picked him up and his teacher had left early that day but was under the care of the aids. I always went to his room to gather his stuff then go get him from the playground. I passed the aid in the hall and went out side and he was left ALONE! No one on the playground but him! Appalling. They do have some great teachers but for ABA and the rest HORRIBLE!
My son is almost 4 and was diagnosed with Apraxia right before his 3rd birthday. This place is wonderful. We drive from Lafayette to Baton Rouge twice a week. My son is not comfortable with most situation and has severe separation anxiety but he walks in his classroom like he's superman. Couldn't ask for better teachers :)
Refuse to file against my sons Medicaid even thought Medicaid said they would pay fully if the center would file. Center told me I had to pay out of pocket because I made the appointment myself even though I had a referle from my doctor. That's after having to wait three months before anyone would tell me he was on a waiting list. And after it was his turn I could never get anyone to answer. The doctors office couldn't even get them on the phone.
I hate the drive, but the teachers and staff make it worth it. They've really helped my kids.
Horrible place! Not nice people! No diversity in the speech department and it s really sad. It makes you feel like they think other racial groups aren t good enough to work in their speech department! The speech therapists are very harsh with the kids! Before working there I heard a lot of awful things but I had no clue it was that bad! I saw it first hand!
Great experience! My daughter needed her hearing tested (audiology) and OT services. They did a wonderful job; very thorough and very professional. I would definitely recommend the Emerge Center.
My daughter has been with them for 3 and a half years and I'm very pleased with the progress she's made!
My son started attending group speech sessions and feeding therapy over a year ago when he was 3. When he started, he wasnt a fan of peer play and his oral aversions were so bad that brushing his teeth was a daily fight. (He had also been on a liquid diet his entire life) In just a year he has blossomed into a social butterfly who can brush his own teeth and feed himself thick textured puree foods. He also is in the OT program, which helped him get over his fear of sliding down and slide and playing on an unbalanced playground. I'm certain that without Emerge my son wouldn't be the same outgoing and friendly child that he is today. They have helped him reach milestones necessary for a normal everyday life and for that I am truly thankful!
My son has Occupational Therapy here and since the very first day, the ENTIRE staff has been so kind, accommodating, and helpful. They do a wonderful job with the kids, and they seem to be so patient. 10/10 for sure!!
