The Drill Hall Review

We had booked a table for a meet up of 15 friends. The first bits of food arrived after an hour and fifteen mins, with the final pizzas not arriving until over an hour and a half after we ordered them. It was sweltering hot in there and, while the staff were nice enough, we had no apology. Don't think we'll be going back any time soon! I don't think I've ever waited that long for food.

Great place for pizza, good atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. It's our go-to place for pizza in Sandwich. Hope one day to be ravenous enough to tackle one of their calzones!

I can t fault the place. They are obsessive about the dough; their drinks and ice cream are healthy AND they let dogs in. Brilliant tasty pizzas.

Much improved since my last visit. Someone's doing something right.

The best pizza this side of Naples - and yes, I've eaten plenty of pizza in Naples! - Great atmosphere and host of events. Brilliant folk event last night.

Lovely pizza. Self service. Plastic cutlery and paper plates. It is what it is, good pizza in a casual setting.

If you understand the "warehouse" with garden furniture and umbrellas as a concept, then the location is quite funny. Ordered at the bar. The pizza from the wood stove is great and you can watch how it is made. What does not work for me are the paper plates and the plastic cutlery! Therefore only 3 stars. At the beginning of september it will be rebuilt ....

Wide range of value for money Pizzas. Plenty of tables in a clean and tidy room. Food made to order by competent cooks and served by friendly staff. Pay and display car park opposite entrance door..

Comfortable seating, good ambiance, pizza made to order Eco friendly knives, forks napkins, ecetra. Staff, polite friendly provide quick service.Nothing is too much trouble.

Excellent pizza here, friendly staff. Nice beers. Relaxed and casual, don't wear your best suit because there is no need.

Superb Pizza. Cooked to order in an authentic pizza oven. Takeaway is available. Plenty of vegan and gluten free options available, so everyone is catered for. Not the ideal place for a couple dining together, unless you're willing to share a table when busy. Only large tables so better for groups. Nice relaxed friendly atmosphere and definitely worth a visit.

Delicious calzone with parma ham etc. Plus a side of the best garlic bread (with pesto and mozzarella). My friend thought this was the best calzone outside of Italy. Having been there and had some stodgy pizzas for years from mainstream outlets ... I can honestly say I agree. Delicious. 5 stars is the most I can give sadly!!

A very family freandly place or somewhere for just a coffee. I think becoming the centre of the community catering for all.

Simply the best gluten free pizza I have ever had. Today was our 6th visit to the Drill Hall and we have always had great pizza there.

Had a meal last night with the family (5) , wow what canine say staff were fantastic , my wife is allergic to fish and nuts and the staff could not have been more helpful , absolutely fantastic

Had dinner Nov 3rd for my birthday with two friends, my first time eating out since Feb and I was so impressed with the COVID safety measures that were in place, it was the only restaurant I called that asked how many households were dining when I booked and we were socially distanced at our table, all staff wore PPE and were so friendly, I even got a birthday candle in my Gelato :) and the food was delicious!

Not sure about decor at first but loved the service and food.

Great selection of great Gin... oh and they make pizza too. Great experience will come back.

Really nice pizza place - real fresh pizzas cooked to order in the massive wood fired pizza oven.
Not expensive. It's order at the bar and a slight risk of sharing a large table. It would be a great place to take a group because the tables are mostly big and the place is spacious.

A great alternative to the traditional pubs in town. Excellent pizza, a good range of drinks, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options if that's your thing.

Ate here on Saturday for the first time. Today is Wednesday and I'm still day dreaming about the food. Pizza to die for. Lovely bottle of wine. No fuss kinda place. Enough said A+++++

WOW. Had dinner here last night..28th Oct 2020. After the new normal bookings procedure (Covid stylee) and safety protocols on arrival. We were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to our table, which were square garden type ratan outfits, but very comfortable. The whole concept is a bit way out eco style, with everything either recycled or free from...again no prob for us. Great range on beers, and huge selection of Gin. The whole area is about the size of a smallish warehouse, white walls, and the other seating is recycled scaffolding and benches. Main event, The Pizza's...massive selection with great ingredients to suit all tastes. All cooked in wood fired ovens. Really good kids size portions, and the adult sizes were perfect. We really recommend this place, having had a long chat with a staff member, she explained that it was opened by one guy 2 years ago have expanded from running a pizza van. All I can say is good luck to him...the whole evening food, staff, produce, and atmosphere were great . Were not regular pizza eaters, and when we do its usually 'Z'..(you know the one) and this place knocks them out the park. Huge car park right outside, which is free after 5:30pm...(Take note rip off cities). If you love pizza...you gotta give this place a go, it really won't disappoint...just to explain..I'm old fussy, and have 2 young sons, and they loved it. Oh and the table call button, kept them amused, which alerts staff that you need something. 10/10. Places like this need your support.

Only had garlic bread but was delicious. Roomy, comfortable, good choice of food and drink. Reasonbly priced.

Great pizza here, and we really enjoyed the food. However an overly defensive member of staff put a bad taste in our mouths. When food was served a pizza was missing from our order, I would not have minded so much especially as it came out very quickly once resolved, but the member of staff was quite confrontational both at the table when we queried it and when my wife went to order & pay for the missing one. He was quite vocal in telling me I didn't order correctly and blaming me for being too concerned about our wine order to get my order correctly which I found incredibly rude. There is no need to argue with your customers when an error happens, as clearly we were both at fault, you did not record my order correctly as we distinctly remember ordering all four pizzas (in fact we joked about having correctly pronounced most of them!) and I did not spot this when having it read back to me at the till, no need for the defensiveness.
