So happy to have found this restaurant!! The food is authentic and delicious. The restaurant is clean, the service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely going back.
I took the family here for lunch, we all loved it! We had chicken empanadas, the Cuban sandwich, and the shibex sandwich, all of it was great, but the Cuban sandwich was the best one I've had.
Really good food and the service is amazing, coming back for sure!
Incredible food! Pastries and coffee delicious as well!!!!
There was hair on the cups. I really expected more Cuban flavor! Conan's cook awesome!
This is how you tell the food was delicious, great customer service authentic cuban food. Love it, will go back to try other items in the menu! Tres leche real good desert:)
The best Cuban food in Jax. Delicious taste and very good service. Place I recommend.
Ordered the ropa vieja. Not good at all. Nice people, but this was the worst Cuban food I ve ever had.
Lived in South Florida for years and tried all sorts of places to find "the best" cuban sandwich.. this place puts all of them to shame! Wonderful food, wonderful service!! The owner really makes you feel like family! Can't wait to come back!
Not what I expected! Way over priced.. $16 for a plate is too much. Saw the good reviews and had to try it. It was very disappointing. I got vaca frita and I think they gave me lechon asado because I know it wasnt vaca frita. The texture of vaca frita is more crispy and very flavorful. The congris was good and so was the maduros, but they only give you 2. We just moved here from Miami so we are used to having very authentic good Cuban food and this wasn t it. Gave it 3 stars cuz it was clean, the girl was nice and the congris was good. We still haven t found an authentic Cuban restaurant in Jacksonville. Wife is Cuban so I know. For $16 they should add the traditional garlic butter pansito before you eat. This place has a lot of potential just needs to stop being overpriced.
Never new this place was here. I wanted to try something I haven t had in a while. I m glad I did! The Cuban sandwich was really good packed with pork! Also got the beef empanadas and WOW! So much flavor. Definitely will be back.
The food, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee were all amazing. The owner personally sat us and waited on us- very friendly and attentive. Very clean. Definitely will be back with friends.
The Cuban sandwich was good. Not great there are other places in Jacksonville that make a better Cuban sandwich. However if you're looking for a quick bite and don't want to drive across town to the other Cuban restaurants this isn't a bad sandwich.
The food was very good. The lunch special is definitely worth the visit. I never had a tamale in a Cuban place and I was pleasantly surprised. My only complaint is the price of what they called natural juice . I had the watermelon and it tasted like artificial juice, which normally is not a big deal, but $3.99 for a glass of juice is outrageously priced. I recommend sticking to water or soft drinks.
Very picky on Cuban places, but daaaaaaaanm was that good!!
The food was fantastic, and great customer service... highly recommend.. thank you..
Finally tried this restaurant last Friday night and seriously can t wait for our next visit. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich- honestly the best we have tasted here in Jax. I got the roasted pork with rice and yuca. The pork was melt in your mouth perfect! I actually said to my husband that it s been way too long since I ve had Cuban food this good. Prices are food, portions large, and service friendly. My only disappointment is that we waited so long to eat here.
Overpriced and kind of shady. Man working counter tried to charge my sister in law more for her food and then when she mentioned it to him he said that all the menus were wrong. Um...that s not how this works my man. Ham croquettes were tiny. Like a baby pinky. We got the food to go and it took a long time to prepare even though the restaurant was not busy at all. Tostones were undercooked and soggy. The food just wasn t great. Especially for the prices.
Very good and with quality Cuban food like at home, good attention, fast service
Great authentic Cuban restaurant!!! Clean, great food and service.
Labor Day and only 1 person waiting tables. The food not terrible but not great. Tostones were dry and hard, missing the garlic sauce. The midnight sandwich had shredded pork instead of sliced pork meat and the bread super greasy from all the butter used to toast it. Asked for Corona light and was served regular Corona. My mother and my daughter asked for Materva drink and there was only one in the restaurant. I asked what was going on that the service was so poor and I was told that the employees decided not to go to work because it was a holiday. Maybe it was a bad timing for my first experience but will definitely be the last one. I was so dissatisfied that didn t even ordered dessert.
It can definitely be better ... The attention is weak, the meals are correct but it does not leave you any memory ... It gives for more and they do not
Love the food. Love the people. This will be one of my regular spots.
Had the Picadillo and Rellenas and loved it. Service was great
I stopped in to try the cuban sandwich with my wife. The owner suggested I split a cuban and their signature "shexi" sandwich ( a delicious cuban style brisket, grilled onions, and cheese with chips on top, named after his two daughters). The price was around 12 dollars each with drinks. The cuban was authentic and delicious. The bread on both was warm light and crispy. The ham was thick and flavorful. The cheese was melty and good. The star of the show was the pulled pork, packed with flavor. Cuban music videos playing in the background and a cozy family atmosphere make this place the best cuban lunch spot I've been to in northeast Florida.
Great little restaurant. The waiter was attentive. The food was good. I would recommend this place for Cuban food
Oye mi gente!!! Hands down the best Cuban food. You will not be disappointed. They can t disappoint even if they tried. The food reminds me of home and it almost brought me to tears. The owners are amazing and super loving and love what More
Super friendly staff and excellent food. Worth a visit!
They have non-menu specials sometimes. This is the seafood paella. Delicious and fairly priced.
This place is awesome! We went on th very first day it opened and had a fabulous meal. Since then we have ordered lunch for pickup twice and both times it had been outstanding. Thank you for all the you do during these times.
I drove down from Pensacola, and dropped by for lunch. Absolutely loved it. The service was exceptional. I love their Ropa Vieja and the tres leche cake... soooooo good
Excellent food and incredible prices. Professionals and excellent service.
Everything is beyond what was expected. Great service and atmosphere. Food was....there isnt a word that I can think of to describe the greatness of this food. Omg the flan was the best I've ever tasted. Its a little pricey but for the service, presentation and quality of food it was worth it. I will become a regular here now. Lol
Waiter and staff were so warm, attentive and courteous. Food was delicious and plating was beautiful. We sat outdoors with my dog and they even made her a special meal just for her! Definitely made an impression on us. Will definitely be visiting again.
This place is the JAM. I grew up going to Miami and eating the food my Cuban great grandma made, and this is it. Delicious food, friendly staff, a great spot. We ordered over $100 in food to try as much as we could and every bite was great.
The food was absolutely amazing! My mouth is watering just thinking about my experience. We started out with the yuca Frita, tosrones and tamales. Yummy we then began our food journey with the Cuban sandwich, oxtail stew, garlic shrimp and the red snapper! Wow!!! We had the mojitos and ended the night with Cuban flan and tres leches. We will definitely we back. You guys brought Cuba to Jacksonville. Gracias amigos
Wonderful service, food was on point. We will definitely come back again.
The best place ! "The Cuban Place Restaurant" if you need to order food for events or family reunion come to this place! Aahh !! And hold on! THE BEST CUBAN SANDWICH !! Here it is! Don't go anywhere else! The original is here "The Cuban Place Restaurant"
Here they will make you feel like Family!
Excellent service and spectacular food, 100% recommended
We were so excited to see this place open. After living in Miami for 40 years, it has been hard to find good Latin food anywhere in Jacksonville. We ordered, to-go, a Palomilla steak and ropa vieja, two of our favorite dishes of all time. The steak came with congri (black beans and white ruce mixed together) and 2 tostones. My daughter was happy with that and flavors were good. The tostones could have been salted better but overall, not bad. The ropa vieja flavor was disappointing, as well as the portion. I can go to Publix and pay less for more and tastier ropa vieja. I would like to go back but is too expensive for what they offer. $15 for literally a woman's handful of ropa vieja and white rice with black beans, and $16 for Palomilla with congri. La Carreta and Latin America in Miami aren't even that expensive AND they provide larger portions! I really hoped this place was going to be great. Maybe since they are brand new, they will modify some things with feedback and we can try again.
Nope. Won t be back. Ultra dry and chewy Ropa. They put the main course in the section of the take out container for a side. Kinda glad they did as I hated every bite. $16.00 is a rip off. If you truly know Cuban food you will be very disappointed. Sorry guys for the bad review but these are the facts. Mambos is so much better. This is my first negative review ever.
Little slice of Cuban heaven!! Amazing yellow rice and beans, wonderful medianoche and leche cake. Sweet, cold and so delicious. I will return.
Excellent service, good Cuban food that makes us remember our culture. I love the place, cozy. I will be back soon !!!!!
Hands down best cuban food outside of Miami, the keys and Tampa.
Small quaint restaurant tucked away off San Jose behind the Krystals. I came for take out and they had a live Spanish singer. Food is great! Only disappointment was no Masitas was on the menu.
Awesome Cuban restaurant. Great flavor, great service! You will not be disappointed.
The food was excellent and the service was genuine. Clean. Friendly. We will be back.
Over-priced Cuban food that lacks flavor - rice was hard, not fresh and the beef was bone dry.
I was surprised to discover this darling cafe that opened just a few days ago. I m always in search of an authentically good Cuban sandwich and I was not disappointed! However, I found so much more. Their daily buffet looks mouthwatering with a great variety to choose from. Good Cuban coffee and cheerful service sealed the deal. I ll be back! Hurry before the rest of mandarin discovers it and you can t get in the door.
A disappointment. Went there for lunch and the rice was reheated from the previous day, definitely not made that day. The tostones were frozen not fried to order and the Cuban steak was like leather because of the poor quality. I'm Cuban and will not come back. The owners need to make great dishes with fresh, quality ingredients.
The Cuban sandwich was soggy and cold the rice and black beans had absolutely no flavor and were cold my girlfriend got a different sandwich which was absolutely the same soggy and cold and her yellow rice had absolutely no flavor to it and was cold. We will not be coming back to your establishment I don't know how you stayed in business this long if this is how you do business..
Awesome food, awesome service, great Covid-19 Protocol. Will definitely go again ..... Good Cuban food .... ahhh. There was a need for one like that here
I was there last weekend. Extremely clean friendly staff the food excellent. It remind me of my hometown Miami. Highly recommended.
Excellent place, it has a calm atmosphere and the music is lovely. The attention is quality and helpful. % RECOMMENDED!
We visited for the first time last night and the service was excellent and the food delicious. VERY AUTHENTIC. It is definitely worth going back.
Awesome tamales!!!
The food here is great, i have tried the cuban sandwich, stuffed potatoes, croquettes sandwich and delicious tamales (stuffed with pork), all great. Friendly staff in a clean restaurant. I'm glad they closed to me.
The owners, the friendly staff, the Delicious Food, the music...That place Its amazing!! 100%Recommended .
OH please dont waste your money in any expensive coffee shops...Just ask the owner Dominguez to make you a "Cortaito" , the perfect coffee with "foam milk"...
My favorite food is the Pork Sandwich, the soups, and Chicken Empanadas, ...and masitas de cerdo, and croquetas...and EVERYTHING IS TRULY TASTY
Look. The food was good.
The breaded pork was incredible.
The bread was great.
The croquetas were great.
The palomilla was good.
The picadillo was average
But the service was abysmal.
I understand the place just opened up but the menu is incomplete, the servers are not well versed, and the food took forever.
A communications nightmare.
Water was filled up once. You had to ask for the free bread.
Wait a month and then check it out. I'm game to rereview in the future.
Excellent service, Authentic Cuban cuisine. Very impressed will definitely be back soon
Today's soup was divine. And the service not to mention. Thanks for everything!
Excellent Cuban sandwich! Three fried plantains we're really good too.
Food is great & service even better !! Coming back for sure.
Good food and friendly staff will definitely go back
Cuban sandwich was a carnivore's dream: pork was perfect (not too dry, not too chewy). One of my favorite places to indulge.
Very good Customer Service and the Food was awesome
Very homey feel Cuban restaurant. Owners come to greet you and always at the forefront of the restaurant making sure his customers are happy. The food really brings it back home with authentic Cuban flavor. A must try !
Excellent authentic Cuban food a very clean and pleasant place, very good customer service, orders are very fast
Amazing food . My husband and I wanted to try cuban food and this was definitely a great experience. Super friendly staff !! We will be coming back for sure!
Everything is very nice and clean, the food is delicious and the attention is first class, thank you very much for making us spend a very pleasant time, especially the owners and Camila and Melanie who were the ones who attended us, I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat a very tasty Cuban food at a very competitive price
What a treat to discover this little gem on a night we were craving authentic Cuban cuisine at a reasonable price. Pros: Cozy outdoor seating area, great cocktails, tasty sandwiches and sides, yummiest tres leches cake ever, excellent service, live music. Cons: Finding time to go back and sample everything on the menu!
The first and last time ordering from here. The meat is as tough as shoe leather. The only reason I gave a two, is because it was well seasoned.
