Worst service ever! I have spent hours of my life this month dealing with this incompetent bunch regarding RRSP arm's length mortgages. They have always been difficult but they even outdid themselves. Wasted 2-3 weeks doing a simple transfer of funds into their institution to finance private mortgages. They couldn't get their own fax number correct and then had the nerve to say it could have been partly their fault for the delay, costing the lender 3 weeks of interest. Then my husband and I were getting paid out on a mortgage. They couldn't figure out we both needed a discharge even though I explained this several times. Then I got mine but they didn't spell gmail with an L so of course my husband kept not getting his and they behaved as if it was his fault. The lawyer had to keep on them to get the discharges done at all. Another deal that was supposed to close yesterday was delayed because they thought there was an error. The lawyer informed them they were incorrect and what further documents did they need. Lawyer asked twice yesterday as well as today. I had to intervene for most of the day just to get any response at all. Only got a vague response instead of saying what they were actually requiring. Lawyer sent what she thought they needed and last communication before they left at 4pm was they needed more legal documents but didn't say what. This is a day late already and the outcome was they would look into it on Monday. I have spent at least 5 hrs in the last 2 days just trying to get a clear response to resolve this. They stonewall with a general email address so usually you have no idea who you are dealing with and seems there are many people involved so you can never get to the root of it, and it's always the clients fault. Can't wait to move my investments to an institution that actually has a clue what they are doing and perhaps some concern for a client. Another review mentioned Clevia Martin, she truly is the only person I have dealt with there that knows what she is doing and resolves problems.
Don't waste your time and energy with this frustrating, incompetent group. I have heard of a couple of other options for RRSP mortgages who can fund a deal in 2 days rather than a week or more and the fees are less. I would give no stars but it doesn't allow you that option
As a mortgage broker, I have been working with this company for residential mortgage cases serving clients' needs. As a B /Alternative lender, it often has very competitive rates in the industry, which is important for clients.
Negative experience. This company assumes that if you are their client you must not be responsible. They insist on paying your taxes, collect the money and then don t pay your taxes on time. They create reasons to ask for more money be they extra fees or unusual upfront fees. Beware of a broker who recommends them.
They also do not report your mortgage to the credit bureau which lowers your credit rating because it appears you do not have a registered mortgage. Seems to be apart of their client retention strategy. Save yourself frustration, fees, and high interest and find a better lender.
After I made my review the lender started calling me which I did not request or appreciate. What is done is done. Only changes to their business practices would impact how clients review this lender.
Very unpleasant experience. Rates are very high and with other unexplainable fees. Poor customer service and lousy staff unwilling to listen to any complaint. Not a good place for anyone.
Not happy with the crazy fees and horrible reporting format. The balance on your account isn't really correct so you're left guessing as to how much is your total. They need to seriously grow up like Olympia Trust and fast.
Try to avoid this company at all costs. If i could give them 0 star I would. We tried contacting them during the pandemic in March, about 5 times and we still haven't gotten a reply.

ONLY MORTGAGE BROKERS AND AGENTS WILL RATE THIS 5 STAR BECAUSE THEY MAKE AT LEAST 1% COMMISION WITH COMMUNITY TRUST,
All their underwriters and fulfilment specialist has no idea what they are doing they will make you wait for months yes literally months and charge you 1% lender fee on every deal people who has no credit are their prey.
They harass you by asking the same documentation you submitted a week ago and keep saying it will be delayed due to late submission but they already have them in their email and didn't take an effort to look.
If there was a negative rating thats what I would be giving this company. This company cares about nothing but the bottom line. The only thing they set their clients up for is FAILURE. Their fees are set to rob their clients. Their true colours show just in the reviews that have been left thus far. Most of the "raving' reviews are from mortgage brokers and for the reviews that call out their absolutely despicable customer service don't even get a response or an acknowledgement. I wouldn't refer my worst enemy to this company for mortgages or any other product. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!
I wish I could give this company half of a star, I had a very bad experience with them they gave me a commitment and a closing date and they ask me for so much paperwork and they cancel the deal on the closing day
People stay away from this company they will waste your time and money not good for business, they should be out of business if you ask me!

I have been trying to contact this company as they ran my credit and I had never even heard of them until I saw the report on my equifax. I ve tried several extension numbers and left several messages as no one ever seems to pick up the phone or return calls. The receptionist is useless as she cannot direct me to an actual person to speak to or the correct department. My next step will be to report the entire company as fraudulent.
I've been dealing with this bank for over a year now and honestly I have nothing bad to say about them. They given me the best customer service and professionalism whenever I have to deal with them. I dealt with several people from Community Trust and all have been great, but I have to mention the experience I receive from Tanya, Dina, Beena and Camelia. These wonderful representatives have only made my experience with Community better. I love dealing with this bank and looking forward to continuing out business relationships!
I currently have my mortgage with them...their rate is WAAY too high and the fees are ridiculous. It costs $100 if you need to get a copy of your mortgage statement and more for other requests. The customer service is also horrible. I've had a mortgage prior to this one for over 10 years and have never experienced anything like this (I got a new property was advised to switch) everyday I beat myself up. My mortgage is coming up renewal next month and I cant wait to swicth....I get stressed out each time I look at my mortgage statement. Community trust you guys need to do better. Take your client's advice.
Community Trust came through when other lenders were too strict with the servicing. Raminder took a common sense approach to the deal which made it work, and the client could not be happier.

horrible little company, 4 weeks dozens of emails and calls and no one will respond..and this is trying to give them money. should be able to give zero stars.
Do yourself a favour and stay away from this company. There are much better lenders out there in terms of customer service, rates and fees My lawyer will not deal with this company again. Both home closings were delayed, due to late paperwork by CTC.

I can imagine why people write all sorts, it can be a difficult time when a mortgage is needed.
My wife and I have been with them for awhile and the renewal & refinancing process have been easier than going through a mortgage broker.
They were responsive by email and phone calls.

They tell you upfront what the process is and what to expect and try to work with you to meet your needs.
Just wish we could have gotten a lower interest rate with them but working on it.

I am so happy I decided to NOT do business with Community Trust after taking advice from friends to stay away from them. Their response times were late, their fees are criminal, their staff don't seem to care nor did they treat me like a valued potential client, their website sucks, overall a dumpster fire of an organization. Glad I didn't make a huge mistake. I work way too hard for my money to just gamble it away.
bad experience with this mortgage company, they just ask you to send in more infos if they dont want to give you an approval but when you do have a legit incomes dont waste your time and stay away from them

I have never dealt with a company that seems to be ignoring my calls. Since day one when I tried to reach them they never pick up their calls and Iam told to leave a voicemail every time with a 24 hour call back. Not only that, but they absolutely to not return calls either. I would leave message after message for over a week and still no returned call. This has been ongoing for over a month now. Absolutely pathetic and does not deserve one single penny of mine. Whoever runs this operation doesn't deserve anyone's money. Shame on these people for running a business like this.
A terrible company to deal with for Customer Service. Imagine their vm stating that someone will call you back within 3 business days and not even fulfilling that slow response time. Emails and phone calls do not get answered, yet they are not a very busy company, compared to the likes of Olympia Trust, and that's why everyone is transferring to OT. After 8 weeks, they still have not transferred my cash to OT.
Working with Community Trust is always a great experience! Their underwriters, BDM's and Managers at Lending are easy to reach, communicate regularly and work together to get the deal done. I have done deals with Community Trust and they continue to be one of my favorite Lending Partners.
First take a look at the fact that only mortgage brokers or specialists are giving 5 star reviews and they are the only people they are responding to by name.
Just don't want anyone else going through what the families I know have gone through. These guys really don't care about the client, please do not risk getting screwed by this company for your mortgage. The anxiety our friends have been dealing with, being fully cooperative and not receiving any response. They think it's all set to go and the last second they delay it for another week. They have everything they need but still no response. When they do respond, it's to hear that their workers were sick or away. I normally don't do this or write a review, but this time I'm left with no choice. I do not want anyone to go through what They are going through, especially if someone happens to be in a bad situation. These people are reason why people can have mental breakdowns and stress.
I now know 2 people that are growing through this same situation with this company, in a place where they can not move or try anywhere else. This company approves u then keeps u locked up and stuck until they have u stuck and desperate.
Have had so many deals not close on time. Can never get a hold of a Live person. All voice mail and have sent countless emails and no one ever responds.
Community Trust is the most pleasant and reliable financial institution for a small business owner like me. Staff are well trained, experienced and very helpful.
I am self employed and I had a good experience getting a mortgage from Community Trust. They were there for me when other lenders were not. I was happy to provide all the paperwork they wanted, and the interest rate and broker fee was what I expected because I was a high risk client. I remortgaged early and had no problems closing the contract. I would recommend Community Trust for all your temporary mortgage needs.
Atrocious experience with this company. Unresponsive to requests from my lawyer for payout. Being charged fees that I should be charged including an extra payment that was refunded to me after the same payment was taken twice now being billed back to me also an urgent service fee after my lawyer spent a week not getting a return call to the messages left, among others as well. Zero stars should be allowed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I have pulled my RRSP portfolio from Community Trust Company and I do not have any regrets about it. Their RRSP department is just terrible. They have only one person who knows what the heck she is doing. That is Clevia Martins. All others are just a shame...
Worst experience of my life! Not only did they give out my personal information and what I owed on my mortgage but also my SIN. I only found out when a gentleman came to hand me my papers and ask if I had his by any chance.. I m in east York and he is in Vaughan. I had people calling telling me I was in arrears and they had just taken my money. Then apologize must be the wrong account????
Not one person ever apologized for this mistake or would even give me the time of day. I switched mortgage broker due to all their mistakes and lack of respect. And refused to accept the buy at first. And gave the other company a hard time.
People in that company really need to go back to school and learn right from the beginning how to communicate and treat their clientele.
