The Coffee Oasis: Restoring Communities through Compassionate Youth Programs and Coffee Businesses
The Coffee Oasis is a non-profit organization that has been making a difference in the lives of youth since 1997. The organization's mission is to create pathways of opportunity for youth to be restored in heart, soul, mind, and body. The Coffee Oasis believes that youth are the future of our community, but many are hurting, homeless, and hindered from living their full potential.
To address this issue, The Coffee Oasis offers compassionate youth programs that provide a safe shared space for young people to grow and thrive. These programs include outreach services such as street outreach teams that connect with homeless youth on the streets; drop-in centers where young people can access basic needs like food and clothing; case management services that help young people navigate complex systems like housing or healthcare; mentoring programs where caring adults invest in the lives of young people; and job training opportunities through coffee businesses.
One unique aspect of The Coffee Oasis is its coffee businesses. These businesses not only provide job training opportunities for young people but also generate revenue to support the organization's mission. There are currently four coffee shops located throughout Kitsap County in Washington State: Bremerton, Poulsbo, Port Orchard, and Kingston.
Each location has its own unique vibe but all share a commitment to quality coffee drinks made with locally roasted beans. In addition to serving delicious beverages and snacks, these cafes also serve as community gathering places where customers can connect with each other while supporting a good cause.
The success of these cafes has allowed The Coffee Oasis to expand its reach beyond Kitsap County. In 2018 they opened their first cafe outside Washington State in Tracyton Bay near San Francisco Bay Area California which was an instant hit among locals who appreciated both great coffee drinks as well as supporting an important cause.
In addition to providing job training opportunities through their cafes' operations team members at each location receive extensive barista training so they can learn how to make high-quality espresso-based drinks using locally roasted beans from around Washington state which helps them develop valuable skills they can use later on when applying for jobs elsewhere or starting their own business ventures.
Overall it's clear that The Coffee Oasis is making a significant impact on communities across Kitsap County by providing compassionate care for vulnerable youth while also creating sustainable revenue streams through their successful coffee businesses.
