Having worked in other agencies under the OPWDD umbrella; this agency far surpasses any other in my experience. I have worked in the field of individuals with Developmental Disabilities for 8 years and have spanned across many different departments. The center has a strong emphasis on wellness for the people who live here as well as the people who work here. The employee benefits are stellar. I have my son and myself on the health insurance plan and am extremely happy with the cost and widely accepted insurance plan we have. I get employee discounts through several places and businesses, have access to a free gym, access to the agency pool, and participate in a summer farm share with delicious organic food. The people I work with are amazing, and the people I work for are even more so.

This is an absolutely unique and remarkable school. It cares DEEPLY for our children and in this terrible pandemic where so many people with IDD, including autism died in far greater numbers than the general public, it has had 0 deaths of residents, students or staff. I don't recognize it in the vicious reviews on this page as describing the Center for Discovery, which I have known for nearly 20 years.

Staff is treated unfairly and often fired without cause. Their main goal is to care for people with disabilities, their staff is the last they care about. They run expensive advertisements ALL the time desperately looking for staff while letting go on their workers leaving them jobless.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would they are NOT looking for people who can advocate for there residents they are looking for sheep who do what there are told weather it is right or wrong they want lap dogs so if you are a lap dog and willing to be forced to do things then this is the place for you !!!!!

THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE RESIDENTS! Money talks, so unless you can build a new building for them, your kid won t matter. The HR department are all POS. I was fired for reporting child abuse in the workers daycare and was fired the same day. I called the justice department and to keep me quiet they rehired me and watched me so they could find a legit reason to fire me. I wrote a review a while back but it looks altered.

The Center for Discovery has been a great place to work! I have started out since college as a PT staff and have grown as a professional and a person in general from this agency. Every department of The Center works together to support the children and adults that are being served. The agency itself is a great asset to the community! I have also brought my family members for services at The Center and all have left with positive experiences. Thank you TCFD and thank you to the amazing staff that make this place what it is!

I have been an employee at The Center For Discovery for ten years. I work with a variety of individuals who face complex developmental challenges. The Center has both pediatric and adult programs that provide excellent care for those they serve. Prior to working at the Center, I have worked in various positions in other agencies. Never have I worked with a more dedicated group of people than my Center coworkers. They meet everyday challenges with creativity, love, and compassion. As an employee, staff are also provided a great benefits package that includes: medical insurance, paid time off, gym access, and varied staff wellness opportunities. My children have also participated in the staff daycare, camp programs, family pool days, and specialty activities. This is a truly remarkable place to begin a career!

As a staff member who recently just quit... I worked at the school and it was wonderful, they treated the students very kindly. Very professional atmosphere. The residential homes were the opposite. Staff members yell and be little the residents. My supervisor would cut the residents stray hairs even when she was told not to. She also would tell me various stories about drug related incidents. They had told me we can all go on our phone once the big people leave the room. It was horrible there... they day hab centers were professional and the staff treated the residents there kindly. I would also recommend not working here unless you really enjoy working with special needs. Getting attacked, paid very little, and wearing heavy Covid prevention protection was all part of the package. The school was very nice but they move you around to residential homes because of covid, and it s like starting the job all over again. Very difficult. But had its special moments. The benefits are also very good, but you don t receive them until 3 months after working there.

I have worked at The Center For Discovery in the residential program for years. I really enjoy working here. The Center offers so much to the residents we serve as well as the individuals they hire. I have never worked with such dedicated, hard working, and insipirable people. The Center For Discovery really makes coming to work an enjoyable experience. There are just so many great things happening here and I can't wait to see what the future brings!
