Extremely lively place for stock market enthusiasts in the past, the building now represents reminisces of a bygone Era. The place now houses offices of sub-brokers of NSE and BSE.

However, there is one more side to it. Word "stock exchange" now denotes the food street behind the building where you can get all street food of your choice, from proper lunch with cooked vegetables and roti to South Indian to various chats to sandwiches and toasts to Chinese. Anyone is spoilt for choice here. Fruits, fruit juice, ice cream and kulfi for dessert. Malai toast and corn sandwich being the favorites of the place. Many brokers just visit this place for their share of evening tea and gossip.

Nice place to have food (mostly lunch & breakfast) at considerable price.

Krishna chai wala... sandwiches....cheese chilly bread...kaka ka khana....dahi papri chill dosa all in one lane... amazing place to visit if u are in office and provided ur offc is near Tea board

This is the place where I learned a lote about business.

The building at 7, Lyons Range, Calcutta which was constructed in 1928 and has been the office of the Stock Exchange for the last 70 years, has become absolutely insufficient for accommodating the enormous increase, not only in the number of members of the Exchange but also the phenomenal growth in the volume of business being handled by the members of the Exchange. The authorities of the Stock Exchange have already initiated measures for obtaining larger premises, so that the hardship faced by members due to acute shortage of space is mitigated. The Stock Exchange has already obtained possession of land at the eastern Metropolitan Bye-Pass, Calcutta for construction of a modern stock exchange complex which will house apart from members offices, the office of capital market intermediaries like clearing house, financial institutions, banks, registrars, etc.

At the time of incorporation in 1908, the Stock Exchange had 150 members. Today the total membership has risen to more than 900, which contains several corporate and institutional members. The number of companies listed on the Exchange is more than 3,500. The Annual turnover of the Exchange in 1997-98 was to the tune of Rs, 1,78,779 crores. The Calcutta Stock Exchange has been granted permanent recognition by the Central Government with effect from April 14, 1980 under the relevant provisions of the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956, with a view to render useful service to investors.

This place is heart of city, I.e very busiest place.

Good. Though the building looks like average but facilities provided inside are good.

The historic monument. It still inspires hope amongst the local people associated with stock market industry. The glory still remains as the uniformed staff and employees move from one place to other. The officers coming to and fro. The VIP Cars parked nearby. The legendary images hanging in the wall inside. Everything appears there as legendary and protected.

With its glorious past as a financial hub, this iconic building that houses the country's second oldest bourse was erected in 1928 at Lyons Range behind Writers' Buildings and is flanked by mouthwatering roadside eateries.

Oldest stock exchange of india , not changed in changing time so lost the leading position nowadays.
