Amazing place! Huge and beautiful! Bring good walk...
Amazing place! Huge and beautiful! Bring good walking shoes. There is a lot to see. Even in the rain it was nice! And they provide umbrellas. This place is a "can't miss!"

The most beautiful garden I ve ever seen. The variety and arrangements of flowers are spectacular. The scenery is dreamy and everything is maintained impeccably.
What a wonderful experience! Many of the areas are breathtaking with beauty. Tip, get there early, like as they open, buy your tickets online, and bring the credit card used to buy those tickets. Parking is organized and the shops are not that expensive.
Late September was a gorgeous time of year to visit the gardens. The sunken garden and fountains were my favorite parts. My husband loves the Japanese garden. The rose garden wasn't in bloom and the Mediterranean garden wasn't near the tour bus parking lot so we missed it too. We enjoyed a delicious company catered breakfast and then toured the garden. I felt like we didn't need to rush arriving in the morning and by midday we had seen all we need to. If you have 2-3 hours it's a must do.
I have been a member for years and am disgusted that they charge $1.00 for milk substitute for those who are allergic or intolerant to dairy. They told me today that Soy Milk is more expensive than Cow s Milk... not true. There must have been thousands of guests go through their entrance today, I was not the only one in line having an alternative to Milk.
Really beautiful. Would recommend to come with family for a fun ~2 hr experience
What a beautiful garden we spent most of the day wandering through
So many flowers. I'm allergic to flowers. I'm so, so itchy. But my wife loves it here. Five stars.
Oh, the Japanese garden is amazing. I could spend all day in there. There are no itchy flowers (that I've noticed).
Spectacular! Also, Expensive! I have seen many gardens, and Butchart is at the top. It is exquisitely designed and maintained, and the natural water resources are incorporated with great care. Helpful employees are abundant and attentive.
A complete paradise to see and explore!! A true beauty and must see. # bucketlist

Love it there, don't w
Miss this experience.
Marvellous, need extra special work to maintain such a beatiful garden
A MUST FOR ALL THOSE WHO ENJOY LOVELY FLOWERS AND BEAUTIFULLY LANDSCSPED GARDENS
Very beautiful place to spend time with your family. They are wheelchair accessible and also dog friendly. They also have a cafe, ice cream, and fine dining. They do fireworks sometimes and have a beautiful Christmas light display in December. A bit expensive, but that's to be expected.
Beautiful lights and great activity for kids. My children had great time there. The lights were on after 3pm so we could go right after school
Really beautiful gardens. Tons of flowers and the rose garden is especially amazing.
Beautiful!! So many great views. Loved the walk. Saw some tourists put their mouth around the water bottle refill fountain. Gross thanks. Good photo ops. Loved everything. Gift shop was tacky. Couldn't believe the carrousel was $2 lol why not free?? We packed a lunch and returned to our car and ate at a picnic table available in the parking lot.
This place is truly amazing. It's so great you can keep coming back for every season to experience all types of different flowers. They do such an amazing job with the then upkeep and its truly a sight to see.
Immaculately maintained, full of flowers of all types. Truly amazing experience for any gardening or flower lover!
Will take 2+ hours most likely, depending on how much you cover and how often you stop for pictures!
Hint: probably a lot!
Easy to get to, even when a stranger to the area, so long as you have Google Maps!
Not cheap, but worth it. If you re in the area and like gardening at all, just go!
The best garden in Victoria
I saw many kinds of flowers and trees I have never seen.. So beautiful place..
You should see it if you are in Victoria
You can see all the details in the garden website..
These photos in the night in Christmas time..
Simply stunning, well done to all the gardeners that work here!
Very beautiful garden, it's defenitely well worth going to see if you are somewhere in that area. They also have a cute little boat ride hidden in the park.
We had sensational weather to visit this sensational garden, thanks for your foresight Jennie Butchart
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Wonderful variety of plants and well placed. Not too crowded but definitely bustling. Parking was not very awful, did cost money but definitely worth it for the busy time.
One of the great gardens I have been to, including MOBOT.
Extensive, well-maintained, gardens. We stayed for hours, and still didn't see everything! Expect many other visitors to be there with you; we visited in mid-September, and it was busy. The Information Center, with staff available to discuss plant identification and gardening in general, was quite helpful. Several micro-climates make for interesting variety of plants. We got to see some gardeners repelling down the side of a steep embankment, to shear areas of vines. That was different, and shows how much work goes into maintenance.
Amazing colors. Went early before the crowds so took really cool pictures..
Beautifully maintained colourful garden. Like heaven on earth.
Awesome experience. Well worth the price of $50 per person, on a car that accommodates only 2 couples. Better than being on a tour bus that may not take you to other areas inaccessible except for smaller cars.
Dave gave us a great tour. His historical and local perspective of Victoria was a bonus.
Nice way to spend a couple of hours, not as much plant variety as we had expected.
Different experience because of covid but still wonderful place to visit when in Victoria area
Incredible gardens! Feeds the soul. If you are a plant lover or even just appreciate beauty, you need to spend a day here. Went here on a day when the Victoria Symphony was playing in the evening, made for a delightful day. Wear your walking shoes.
we really enjoyed our time here and felt the entry fee was well worth the beauty and knowledge shared within. Thank you to the grounds teams who maintain this treasure- highlight of our trip.
We loved Butchart Garden.
Beautiful garden and layout we had the Tea at noon, and it was sooo good.
We spend 5 hrs there.
THANK YOU! Buchard's
Beautiful place to visit! We went at 10am and it was lovely. Enjoyed afternoon tea at the restaurant.
Beautiful gardens need to take your time and enjoy the beauty.
Booked this tour as a package through clipper vacations and it was so fun! Definitely a lot of walking, so bring comfortable shoes and keep an eye on what the weather will be so you can dress accordingly! The care had decent prices and a really great peach hard cider!
A awesome garden, Even it little expensive to get in but worth it.
An amazing place to come in the wintertime for a great family evening!!
Absolutely breathtaking. A definite must when visiting Victoria.
Beauty can't be expressed in words.just feel it here.
Amazing! I could have spent the whole day here. It's mind blowing to think that a cement quarry could be turned into something so beautiful and breathtaking. A lot of places to take pictures. I would definitely go back again if I'm ever in the area.
Very well taken care of. Totally worth it. Plan for 3 or 4 hours if you want to see everything and take some breaks.
The gardens here are beautiful, without question. You could walk the grounds at a leisurely pace in about 40-60 minutes and will see Flora from all corners of the world. The only problem that we found is that you're going to spend handsomely for the pleasure. We drove 30 minutes north from Victoria to experience the gardens, thinking it would come at a modest cost...it does not. Prices may change, but as of 2019, adults were around CAD $35 each! For me, a 33 year old man, that's just a little steep to walk thru gardens. But you're already 30 minutes out of town, so there's really no turning back...if only I had done my research and read a post like this beforehand!
Majestic place. Come before winter season when all flowers just bloomed. Take time to explore all the gardens and make sure to take a lot of pictures! Definitely worth the price.
What a wonderful place. Brilliant flowers, superb landscaping and a great afternoon tea. Will return when I'm back in Victoria!
Wow. Wow. Wow. We were hesitant about this place to start because who would pay over $30 to visit a bunch of flowers? But O.M.G. it was incredible. Even for someone who is not much of a horticulture buff, you can appreciate the natural and man made beauty of the gardens - both colour and design are truly works of art. The Japanese gardens were my absolute favourite; a complete haven in the BC countryside. So worth a visit, you can see why this place is world renowned.
First time visitor. Stunned by the beauty and relaxing atmosphere. You have to take the boat ecotour to see additional history and beauty. Would have love to swim to the beach. Stay for the concert if you have a chance. What a perfect end of the day. Bought lots of seeds. Wish I could spend several days to walk slowly and appreciate at the finer details. Took soooooo many pictures. Parking is great. Facilities are immaculate. Ground are well groomed. Great place for everyone. Food is okay, a bit pricey so bring in your own. Can't wait to come back.
Since I love flowers I don't mind the high prices. To me, it is absolutely worth it.
This is not your mom's garden. The views are breathtaking. Prepare for lots of walking as there is a LOT to see! We missed the blue poppies by only a week or so :(
Beautiful scenery, it was packed by the time we were done taking pictures at noon. I suggest arriving as close to opening as possible to avoid the crowd.
Butchart Gardens was simply incredible -definitely the highlight of our trip to Victoria. I have never seen so many beautiful plants and flowers in one place in my life. The Sunken Garden and the Japanese Garden were my favorite. The staff was very courteous and helpful. I would also highly recommend the boat trip. We saw bald eagles, jelly fish and some exotic migratory birds. The captain of the boat was an amazing tour guide- very knowledgeable and humorous! He filled us in on the history behind the gardens, and also let us steer the boat for a few minutes!
Great garden. A must see when your in Victoria. We went during the summer hours the gardens entrance closes at 10 but you can stay in the garden till 11 p.m. they also provide free baggage storage. One tip is that the last bus leaves the gardens around 8:30 p.m. but there are other buses which leave down the street at later times. That way you can stay in the gardens later and just walk about 10 minutes and catch a later bus to Victoria.
The gardens are gorgeous but they don't cap the number of visitors and everything is a nightmare to walk to and to get into due to the waves of people. Not an enjoyable experience when you are being pushed from every corner and can't even have a coffee because there's a 30 min line up. The restaurant is a separate review, but don't even try without a reservation
Toured the gardens with my daughter in September. Still plenty of color! Flowers and plants are gorgeous. We went on a day rain was forecast. Umbrellas were available everywhere. As it turned out, the rain didn't start until we had finished our tour. Flowers and plants are beautiful!
Great place, we enjoyed Beautiful flowers in the Garden and time with our friends there,Fireworks show was So Wonderful
Really pretty but traffic was crowded and doesn't seem to flow as well as it could
Stunningly beautiful, a delight to the senses. The flowers were so varied in color and species! The rose garden alone had over 2500 roses of over 250 types! And the different styles of garden, from Japanese to Italian, were beautiful. It was like stepping into another country around each turn. Amazing what a dedicated landowner and a limestone quarry can do!
Beautiful range of flora. Easy to get around. Highly recommend.
Beautiful place to stroll for the whole family. Love the holiday lights and the 12 days of Christmas theme. The Blue Poppy restaurant serves good food.
The indoor garden was stunning. The outdoor gardens were covered in snow, but were still beautiful.
The Butchart Gardens would definitely be classified as a tourist trap. And while it can get very crowded, entry is expensive, and the gift shop is overpriced I would recommend going if you haven't been before. I especially recommend it if you like gardens/gardening or plants at all because it it quite beautiful.
It's a beautiful, meticulously maintained garden. It was a nice visit. However, please note everything is one way foot traffic right now so you really feel like herded sheep at times. I honestly don't feel the near $40 price tag is fair for the limitations imposed right now. Should be half that as you're really only in there for 60-90 minutes max. If you're going to go, go early.
Always a beautiful garden to visit. I recommend this to everyone.
Wonderful staff, beautiful place. We spent about 3 hrs roaming the gardens.
The staff was very welcoming and kind. You absolutely must visit the gardens.
The Gardens are an amazing feature of Vancouver Island. Do not miss this location as a visitor and do yourself a favor by also taking the boat tour of the surrounding bay.
Absolutely perfect in every way. Lovely way to spend the day with the family. Dogs welcome!
One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Worth visiting more than once.
Light show in winter and fireworks in summer are both amazing!
Beautiful gardens - allow at least 3 hours to get around and see everything.
A great day out especially if you stay for the fireworks on a Saturday night.
although be prepared for the huge crowds of visitors.
Extremely well organised in terms of parking, catering and cleaning with the grounds being spotless.
Loved it! Neat clean well managed park. Friendly staff. Incredible flowers, trees, bushes. Fav visit of my vacation!
These gardens are beautiful and worth seeing in the different seasons. The Christmas display takes 10 weeks to set up!
My first trip home back to Canada in over 41 years and I got to the opportunity to visit this amazing Gardens. I can't say enough I I can not tell you just how amazing this place is. A dear friend told me many years ago the Grand Canyon you just have to go to see it there's no way other way to explain it. This is another one of those experiences you really can't explain how amazing this place isyou have to go see it
Beautifully dramatic lightshows at night of December.
Beautiful gardens, a lot of repeat plants throughout. At a leisurely pace, one can easily spend 2-3 hours. I did not do the boat ride or eat at the restaurants. Also of note: the fireworks only happen until August 31st.
Well done. Awesome autumn colours. Workers buzzing around keeping all dead leaves off the ground.
A nice garden very well kept but not as good as I expected for 40CAD per head. Long queues to get into the car park lots of bus tour groups ignoring rules about selfie sticks and being aware of others. Hugely expensive Chinese made souvenirs in the gift shop. The local craft shop had some lovely pieces for sale but a bit pricey. Maybe we went at the end of the blooming season ( first week in September) but we were underwhelmed by the variety of flowers. Have been to beautiful -free - botanical gardens in the UK and Australia and enjoyed them more.
Amazing gardens. Like nothing else I've seen. These photos are just a taste of what awaits you.
This place is incredible! Absolutely breath taking gardens, and I am not a gardener by any stretch of the imagination. If you are in the Northwest/Vancouver area, this is a must stop.
Went as a kid here on a family vacation. Would love to go back some day. Highly recommend!
Great food at the Blue Poppy, helpful staff, lovely sights
If your idea of fun and relaxation involves a leisurely stroll on a long winding path surrounded by a beautifully curated garden, then this place is for you.
Accessible both by car and transit (best to check bus availability since it can be limited) with ample parking space. You can also bring your dogs, as long as they're on a leash and you clean up after them (there's a spot near the front entrance providing poop bags). The paths are well maintained, and have some alternative options for a more wheelchair accessible experience.
Make sure to bring an umbrella in case it rains during your trip. It rained during my visit, but it didn't ruin my experience since I brought an umbrella and a rain coat. The garden was still spectacular.
Due to the pandemic, there were very few people present, which made the walks more peaceful. In addition, some of the looping/roundabout paths are closed off, so your walk will be more linear, but I don't mind, since you can still see majority of the garden. There's so much variety in terms of plant life and garden design that I'm sure you will find a favorite section. My favorites were the the massive fountains near the sunken garden, the rose garden (fragrant), and the Japanese garden (very tranquil).
I highly recommend visiting if you happen to be in/near Victoria, a plant lover, or just love to have a more chill and relaxing outdoor experience.
I've heard about this place all my life. Everybody I know who' s been here yaps on interminably about its beauty. Now I understand why.
Absolutely serene, worth visiting and breath taking.
The gardens are amazing to see! Huge variety of flowers and shrubs! You need a full day to really look around and enjoy the gardens. The fireworks show on the Saturday is stunning to watch and is a good half hour long. If you're planning to come at a different time of year I suggest you go ahead with it as their are blossoms that only occur in the other seasons including winter!
