We went to the Brown hotel for the famous Hot Brown. Before eating we explored this historic and lovely hotel. I really enjoyed reading the signage about the owner of the hotel and his business philosophy. Food and service were excellent. I highly recommend stopping by the lobby bar for a drink and something to eat. Wonderful old school atmosphere.

Fabulously, Friendly, college aged young man checked us in (red hair). Dinner in dining room was great! Building had many neat things to look at inside. Walked thru gift shop, young lady in their was very personable and helpful. Beautiful view from roof! Doormen opened the door every time in and out of hotel, that was real cool! And there was a Boston sports fan, if I remember correctly, who drove us in the hotel shuttle to airport on last day.
I was surprised though at inconsistant carpentry finish work in our room.

I have lived in Louisville for 2 years and just now, in 2018, had my first hot brown - and from its original location! The atmosphere of the dining area, along with the piano playing, made it a memorable experience.

I came to Louisville for the first time ever. My two brothers and our dad came to tour bourbon country.

I cannot find anything bad to say about my stay. The friendliness of each and every staff member stood out. From being initially greeted by the bell staff I figured that The Brown was going to be a great place. Easy drop off of the vehicle for valet service. Offers (not accepted, we each only had one bag) to carry out luggage, and directions where to check in. All within about a minute! Perfect.

Check in was smooth. We were all on the same floor. Which was nice. I appreciated that. During the stay, housekeeping did a great job of keeping an already spotless hotel just that. Spotless. I never once saw anything that should have been cleaned. And my room was treated nicely as well. Very comfortable bed and pillows. HUGE room, and equally impressive was the large bathroom. I hate a cramped hotel room and bathroom setup. This was not the case at all for me, or the others in my family.

The staff at the hotel bar was simply wonderful. From the wait staff, who were so polite and prompt (for the most part, and that is not a knock. The place is BUSY!) and very helpful with suggestions of places to go in the area. To the young ladies that set the tables and refilled our water glasses were equally spot on in their service. And the bartenders are really cool as well. Some good pours were given. Thanks on that! Very nice wide selection of spirits, and at a reasonable price.

The morning buffet breakfast was very good. The absolute only issue at all is that the sausage gravy could have been warmer. And for a three night stay, if that's all I can "complain" about, then that easily gets a pass.

When we checked out, our group had accumulated something like 28 bags from various distilleries. Booze, glassware and swag. My dad kept the bags in his room. When he asked for help from the bell staff in bringing the bags down, boy did he get help. Now I had retrieved my vehicle, so I was unable to get the bell man's name. But he carefully packed each bag in the back of my large SUV, along with our luggage, so that nothing would shift on our drive back home. He took the time to do this rather meticulously. Impressive!

I was very pleased we chose to stay at The Brown Hotel. You will be too. I plan on coming back to Louisville. And this is where I will stay. No question.

Beautiful historic hotel that has been renovated and is a great place to stay in Kentucky. Staff is very friendly, more of an upscale hotel. Would definitely stay at again. Would be great for weddings or events. Attention to detail is amazing at these older hotels compared to the modern look of newer hotels built today. Very comfortable.

Wonderful visit! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I asked the older valet about the history of the place and he lit up with genuine enthusiasm about the story of the Brown Hotel. Clean and nice hotel with very friendly staff and good food.

Upscale historic landmark. Individualized service. Wide selection of Bourbons. Louisville unique dishes. Originally built and owned by a Louisville business Baron. The lobby by itself is architecturally significant. Brad Walker and staff do exceptional work.

We ate at the English Inn, the service was very good and the atmosphere was very charming. Overall, the food was very good but I definitely wish there were more choices on the menu considering it's a little pricey and there aren't options for the sides.

This hotel has old-world opulence and today's conveniences. Rooms are large and comfortable, decorated to reflect Louisville's history. Service was wonderful, everyone was very helpful, and it was easy for my family (inc. two small children) to stay here without concern of bothering other guests. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a true Louisville experience.

Wonderful historic hotel with amazing service in the restaurants, bar and sleeping rooms. The meeting space is great and they have space for formal events too. The hotel shuttle is free, buy it didn't run very often when we needed a ride to the airport so we had to take an Uber. Overall, very nice and helpful staff. The hotel is beautiful and you can learn all about it's history within the hotel.

Had a drink (jalapeno margarita) at the bar before ballet. Wonderful balance of spice. Came back after for dinner and the blackened tuna and couscous was excellent. Something about the tuna and couscous for me.

The hotel itself had a very classic elegance from the moment you walked through the doors. The rooms were very nice and the bed was soft yet firm. The bar was great and Jay the bartender could make a mean Manhattan. I also ordered food to take back to the room and would recommend the crab cakes to everyone. I would definitely stay at The Brown again in the future.

The Hot Brown was delicious. The burgers we're good. Drinks were strong and plentiful. The pianists were amazing (the one we had played rock music and video game theme songs). The waitress we had was accommodating and very friendly. The manager even came by to talk to us and ask how the dinner was. 10/10 would go back again and also recommend.

Architecture is beautiful! Hotel is beautiful but make sure you are dressed to the nines, the people look at you funny if you come in dressed in jeans! Anyway, came here for a Louisville Hot Brown. It was good, but dry. Definitely not worth $25. The cheese tray was amazing! Will come to stay overnight just to experience the hotel itself, but probably will not eat the hot brown again.

We love it here, live in town but come for date night every few months- the location is great for local activities, the shuttle vets us around. The people are always helpful and welcoming and we like the late night bar. The hotel itself is beautiful and the hot Brown is our favorite. Thanks for another great experience

The service was excellent and it was a great place to stay. I'm leaving a review more for the conference services, however. We held a seminar here this week and they could not have been any more professional or accommodating (we most certainly were not the easiest guest to deal with in terms of constant changes).

Zdravko was outstanding throughout the entire process. Chris, Janel, and the entire team helped us throughout the day with all our needs.

We would not hesitate to use the Brown Hotel again for a future event or recommend it to any event planner.

We got the hot brown at the cafe. It's something my wife had been wanting to do her whole life. It was way bland and we've had much better at other louisville restaurants and eateries.
That being said, the hotel itself and the theatre are amazing and well kept. The whole building and it's furnishings are real works of art.

Bed Bug City I took picture

Bed Bug City I took picture
They are not what they come off to be they are money hungry people. They charge you over rated prices for their poor service. The housekeepers wear old maid outfits from the 40s and 50s (new world order slavery days its sad)

The Managers are rude
I actually.saw one of the managers between the two days I was their being very rude too housekeepers to the point it looked like she was about to cry. They over work.them and they definitely do not treat them the way they deserve I will.never stay here again. They need a whole new management company. Me and another colleague both heard it from inside of our room. They also have really Big Cockroaches it was the size of my thumb crawling up my wall. yelling at a housekeeper very rude people. I advise anyone do not stay at the brown hotel
