I didn't know about this museum in Liverpool. I was at Beatles Story, but I knew a lot about this museum long ago. I happened to find out about the British Music Experience located in the Cunard Building, on the banks of the Mersey River. It's worth visiting! A retrospective of pop music that begins in the 1950s and continues to this day. The entrance ticket costs 14 pounds.

We went to see Labyrinth on the big screen there because it's a childhood favourite of mine and I wanted to see and hear David Bowie. Although they had sound issues to begin with we all took it with good nature and the rest of the experience was perfect. Great for families and babies and young children were welcome!

All of the memorabilia, fashions etc through the decades. Remembering Sandie Shaw's dress & many others. A real treat. Holding guitars, playing drums, experiencing singing in a booth, my first & only time, but what a laugh. Boy George hologram. Amazing. Music lovers this is a must.

Was a great experience and learnt a bit that I didn't already know, the only bit that I thought was missing was some info on the likes of Gary Numan and other early electronic artists, but otherwise, well worth a look if you are in Liverpool.

Visited to see the Bands FC free exhibition. We were greeted as we went in and directed perfectly. Fabulous service in the shop including finding the last available Bowie badge for me. The discount with Q park is a nice bonus

Great Experience! A really clever and well put together exhibition covering a wide range of music through the ages upto present day. Very informative with the chance to play guitar with some of the greats! We have an annual pass and will be visiting again, as they have different exhibits from time to time. Lovely cafe to round off your visit.

Really enjoyed this museum. Not a huge amount of exhibits but plenty to see.
Staff super friendly and a small coffee shop.
We tried all the activities. Guitar playing, drumming, singing in the recording studio (cats chorus ) and dancing in the dance area.
Would highly recommend to music lovers from 50's 60's and 70's. Allow 2 hours at least and don't forget to get concession rates.

A must for any music fans, young and old. We really enjoyed our visit. They have some really nice touches in there, such as learning to play the bass or drums and visuals/videos on the main stage. The staff are all musician and lucky for us they did a pop up performance in the cafe just as we were finishing up. Can't recommend this place more!!

What a gem of a place! Well worth a visit for any music fan. Pop in to see artifacts from many of Britain's most famous acts as well as those that influenced British music from afar. Take in a holographic performance of a British legend, create your very own music themed craft, or best yet- spend some time dabbling on a full range of Gibson guitars, drums, and vocal equipment complete with interactive tutorials.

We visited the British Music Experience when it was in London a few years ago. The museum is well laid out with a lot of artefacts covering all aspects of the British music scene. No matter what your musical taste or age is, there is something for everyone. There are some exhibits that were a real surprise to see. Lots of hand written lyrics, costumes and instruments to keep you interested.
There is an interactive area where you can play keyboards, drums, guitar and bass. Theres also a singing and dancing booth.
My only criticism is that the BME isnt well advertised which is a real shame (but in a way is a bonus, as it wasnt crowded like in London). It was only by chance that I found it had moved to Liverpool. I really hope the BME can expand as there is so much potential, especially for a country with a rich musical heritage. Im not talking about The Beatles but with the British music scene in general.
Well worth a visit and highly recommended. An enjoyable couple of hours. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

A nice collection of some rare items from music history. It might seem a bit expensive for what you're getting, but combine a trip to this museum with a (free) visit to the Museum of Liverpool just down the road and it certainly is worth your time and money.

Fantastic overview of the British music scene with great interactive element on the central stage and at the end. Arranged strictly by decade so some of the more modern eras - punk and indie - are perhaps a little thin on the ground for those of us 50 and under, but that's a minor gripe.

If you are a music fan this is fabulous, from the 50's right through to now there are so many classic exhibits and a lot of interactive elements you'll be there for ours. As a huge Charlatans fan and was impressed with the band's artefacts inside.
The on stage hologram of Tim Burgess was amusing.
Big shout to the staff who were really helpful and friendly.

Such an amazing place to visit, a lot of instruments to play by yourself, amazing cafe with self-played piano and delicious coffee) The whole exhibition can take a lot of time, because of how much interactive stuff you will find there - it all depends on how much you are into artists and music at all. There's also quite interesting Beatles books in the cafe, including the big Lewisohn's one!
