What an absolutely wonderful experience it was. From the moment we checked in until our entirely too early departure. John McEwan, Guest Relations Manager really set the tone from "get go". Pricey, yes, but you will never have a better guest experience.
The Breakers is an amazing place, but for what they charge I expected more.
From the moment you drive up the stately driveway you know you ve entered something special. The staff is very friendly and attentive as one would expect. The building and grounds are cared for like a Newport Mansion, and the rooms are very nice, but not great.
So why not a 5 star rating? A couple of things stand out. I ve traveled extensively and stayed at some incredible properties around the globe that were less expense and a notch above The Breakers. The food offerings were good, but not outstanding and when I get nicked $20 for a hot dog, and then a mandatory 20% service charge, my eyebrows go up. There is no need to charge 100% over realistic pricing just for the name on the front gate.
The rooms were very nice, but not 4 figures nice. No views, but a great bathroom. I guess that s how they justify it.
Outside the pools, four of them are top notch. A lap pool, a couple for families and one for adults only. Nice.
Given the number of people at the property there seems to be no lack of inconspicuous cash. It flows like water so as a business, charge big numbers and they will come. For this reviewer though a better ROI is preferred.
The Breakers is a fabulous hotel. Immacutale. The grounds, shrubs, trees, flowers so well kept. The rooms are great. Housekeeping is great. The restaurants are great. The staff are so sincere in their greetings, they are obviously happy to see you and greet you warmly. The only downside to the hotel is the shower heads in the bathrooms. Miserable shower heads. The water goes everywhere but where you want it to go. The water hits the tile walls, side front and back and the shower doors, everything but the person wanting to take a shower. The shower head throws the water like a cone. Water pressure is fantastic. Water temperature is fantastic. When I got done with my shower, the bathroom floor was soaking wet due to the shower head spray hitting the shower glass doors and falling onto the floor. And, there is no handheld shower spray head. Even Motel 6 has handheld shower heads in the bathrooms. Come on Breakers, get with the program. You could be a 10+.
Make sure to use . when booking your room. This site will compare countless booking web sites and normally will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the highest rated in the area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few nights you for sure won't regret it.
The hotel is very nice. On the expensive side, and on the ocean. If you are expecting to get 2 queen beds instead of a king bed! Surprise, you get 2 small full size beds. Other than that, the accommodations are really nice.
Elegant, refined, but not stuffy. Staff is poised, friendly and well trained. Don't try to crash any private parties. Security will ask you to leave. Food is superb. Dress as elegantly as you can...not garish or flashy, but under stated and refined works best. And, oh yes....don't be louf.
Jared at the front desk was professional and super helpful. He made our stay memorable and one of the best experiences! Highly recommend this resort. Beautiful and we will be back.
Very nice hotel and location. The hotel is a five star resort. The only negative is the food cost is very high. The pools and ocean are great draws and they have a beautiful golf course. Third time here and we enjoyed ourselves.
Location: 5/5 - The location is excellent with private beach front.
Room: 5/5 - The room was clean & comfortable. It included amenities that I've never seen in other hotels like built-in water filter in the bathroom for drinking, package of various disinfectant items, etc. The bed was very comfortable.
Service: 5/5 - The service was truly first class all the way around.

Old world, opulent beauty, impeccable facilities and service. Nothing goes unnoticed, every detail is thought out. Life is but a dream...
Gorgeous setting and facility. Food is very expensive. Great service. Adult quiet pool is no longer. That's a big loss.
