If you like Starbucks, you will love this place :-) we definitely went in because of the name, it does not disappoint! Very quaint, great service, good people. Also, open 24 hours! Huge Plus! I am sorry I did not take pictures to show you the lovely decor and warmth that is this shop.

The furniture was very cheap. I found one piece of artwork offensive and I had to put my own half and half in the iced coffee. But my bagel was delicious and they gave me a fair amount of cream cheese. They also had a toaster. So there is good and bad...

Great atmosphere, friendly service, open 24 hrs. What more could you ask for a little local coffee shop? We were recently on a trip to Grand Rapids, and felt like having some coffee late at night. All of the chains were closed after 10. We found this little gem and couldn't be happier.

I must admit the name, while catchy, made me avoid this place for a long time. Recently a client asked to meet there and I accepted. Loved it!

Not being a coffee nut myself I had a freeze that was delicious! Fast, friendly service. Great atmosphere. Ignore the name and enjoy a great local treasure!

A small cozy coffee shop built into an old Bank. The atmosphere is very unique with the wood-paneled walls small desk lamps and antique wood seating. The barista was quick and I will be returning here to spend more time working on school work.

A purposefully differentiated cafe experience. My only regret is that there is not more seating. If these guys doubled down on a 24/7 co-working space concept, they would be existing on the edge of the B2B workforce transition that we are witnessing as a macro economic trend in the late 2k1k's

Open 24 hours with an endless list of drink possibilities. A bit overwhelming for the first timer but just take everything in. Quite and cozy, mostly filled with college students or business peoples. A few outside seats are nice even next to the busy road. Some food options available as well. Staff isnt unpleasant but not overly friendly. Always left happy!

I have never been treated so rudely by ANY business before. I was literally in the store for not even 10 minutes waiting for my friends to arrive when the night manager came up to me and rudely yelled at me in front of the whole coffeeshop to get a drink now or leave. Not wanting to get kicked out before my friends arrived, I ordered a muffin. When she handed me my receipt she said "and don't forget to leave a tip". My friends finally arrived and they didn't even get a chance to take their coats off when the lady once again came up to our table and once again shouted in front of the entire store to buy a drink now or leave. My one friend was so offended by her behavior that he said he would leave then. To which the barista replied "Good! We have a sign on the door and everything! And I'm the night manager so don't you dare ask to speak to management. Oh, and don't EVER come back!" I can't believe management would be so rude! I understand that it's your policy but you don't have to be such a brat. We came for a drink and we will get it once we set down our things.

At least the name suits it well. Because this is definitely, The Bitter End. I don't intend on ever returning.

Quaint little local place. Seems to be a pretty popular hangout for the college crowd. Some excellent specialty drinks along with basic brewed coffee in several varieties. A few tables outside on the sidewalk in the summer.

Love this local coffee shop. Convenient to walk to, although there is ample parking. I appreciate that it is 24 hours. Makes late nights studying a lot nicer. Staff members are friendly, quick, and clean. Only complaint is there never seems to be enough Rocket Fuel coffee!

Not the worst place in Grand Rapids for Coffee, but truth told, it's not far off. The seating is generally packed or nearly full. Environment is moderately ideal for working/studying, but with varying volume and chatter it's more a space for casual coffee with a friend. That said, my coffee experience here has been rather poor. My espresso has consistently been over-extracted and I don't believe the baristas' have anywhere near the level of training as is standard in this area. Milks are always either scalded and overstretched, often times both. Lastly, it's sad to say but the staff is consistently rather moody and rude. I've been in a number of times hoping to have just caught them on bad days at first, but it seems that's just a factor of the work culture here. I'd love to push people in due to their fair trade support and products, not to mention location to campus while still on the west side, but until the culture and quality changes, I say pick another cafe. A true bitter place to be.

The barista made me wait 10 minutes to take my order because she was counting money. When she finally started my drink, she was not attentive to the espresso machine and left the steamed milk and espresso sitting (not yet combined together) for another few minutes while she microwaved my bagel (yuck). Finally she finished my drink (it was almost room temperature by now). My bagel sandwich and drink came to $10. She charged me for a cream cheese which I feel the sandwich needs because it is so mediocre. After I finally paid, she still had me waiting another 5 minutes just to go put my sandwich in a paper bag. I leave and notice in my car she didn't even give me the cream cheese. This place doesn't have well trained baristas, they don't care about making the customer wait, and their food isn't worth the amount they're charging. The only bright spot here is the good hours and that their espresso is fair trade. Not impressed overall.

Coffee! It CAN be made badly! I'm a fan of cappuccino and espresso. Recently I had a cappuccino elsewhere and the difference was SO disappointing!! The Bitter End gets my vote for best coffee & a pretty terrific, European ambiance to boot!

This place is great! I wonder if people know it's a business and not their friends apartment. If you want to stay you should buy something. Simple business practices, I digress though. Great coffee and service.

I have lost faith in this establishment. I have been a patron on and off for the last few years at the bitter end. I don't know what has happened with the service in this place. The past few times ive been in there the baristas behind the counter has been beyond rude to me and I dont understand why, I always tip and i always come in with a smile. the past few times i went in not only have the baristas been rude but this last time i watched as the baristas purposely miss made my drink. I ordered a "Jake" with and extra espresso shot in it. I watch as this individual behind the counter only put in 1 espresso shot (should have been 2+1 extra) in a 16 oz cup and throw in extra on the other ingredients and then proceeded to charge me for the full price. I shouldn't have paid for it but I did. I'd advise the owner to either clean house or have all employees attend a mandatory costumer service class and until that happens i see no reason to return.

We ordered two cappuccinos and the barista was unfriendly. He pulled out what appeared to be previously steamed milk from 3 different containers and resteamed that for our drinks. Then he poured them in to go cups without asking, there was an a very uneven amount in the cups, it was way too hot and espresso was very bitter. Worst cappuccino ever!

As a loyal customer I'm very disappointed in today's service.

Upon entering the coffee shop, my girlfriend and I were trying to find a seat before deciding to buy anything. When we noticed that it was extremely busy, we stood on the side trying to figure out is it was worth the wait.

Immediately the barista asked us if we had bought anything yet, we told her we were thinking about leaving. In return she replied, "well you can leave right now" in an extremely condescending tone. Even other customers noticed the unacceptable customer service

I hope this uncomfortable scenario doesn't happen to anyone else.
