this is the best facility ive ever spent time in, the staff changed my life forever and my therapist ms Kara was the most caring and understanding woman I have ever met. i am forever grateful for this place.
This place saved our bacon during an extremely hard time. The psychiatrists, therapists and nurses are top notch scientists. My son is transformed. He left with much better medicines and functional skills like chore completion!!
Nothing is harder than handing your child over to someone else, especially when they aren t themselves. The kind people at BRC kept me sane and gave me hope.
I have been to several events at this facility public/private and have met several of the children, staff, parents and board members all seem happy, professional and most helpful. The new CEO and executive committee have made dramatic positive changes for the betterment of this residential treatment center.
I was there twice once when I was 9 and again when was 12 or 13. The only dorms I never lived in were the childrens dorms. I wish I had listened to them instead of fighting them for 3 years. That was the best facility I was ever placed in. I'm now 18 and thanks to them I'm doing great. I finished highschool too.
Hi. I'm Bella, and I'm twelve years old. I went to BRC on October 11th of 2020. When I first went to BRC, I was scared. I thought it would be terrible. I said when I first got there that I "wouldn't miss it when I left,". But boy, was I wrong. I cried and hugged everyone there when I left because I (hopefully) wouldn't see BRC ever again. I made many good friends, and I got very attached to the place. I was in Grissom and I was the oldest in that dorm, so everyone looked up to me. I liked that. In my first month of staying, it was close to Halloween. We got to go trick-or-treating in the day. It was great. Fast forward four months. I had about 20 friends there, and the place is pretty small. I was at BRC for shoplifting and just being rude. I'm ok now. I would recommend this place, and coming from a 12 year old who hates leaving her family, that means a lot. I had favorite staff members, including Miss Rachel, Miss Taylor B., and Mr. Jeff. God, I miss them so much. I can't believe it's been over a year now since I went.. It seems like just yesterday. Anyway, if you're a parent reading this, i would recommend BRC. If you are a kid reading this, you'll be in good hands. Thank you for reading my review, and I hope I helped :)
I was in the power dorm, great staff such as Mr. Champ, Mr. Tony, Mr.Jermey, Mr.Allen, and my favorite staff was ms.Shari she was a great, and helpful staff that trully cared and wanted to help kids, also my advacote Ms.Crystle which is a great person that i wish the best for. (May - October 2020) Ms. Kat was the best teacher. Food was pretty decent and way better than public school food Therapist : Mr. Otis (Age,13)
i was here for about eight months and i loved it and hated it at the same time. my advocate was Mr. Damion. and i was in the Wilcox dorm. My absolute favorite staff was Mr. Jason. And not to forget Mr. Hal. God i miss him he was nice and brutally honest at the same time. when i first got here i was scared and nervous to meet my new family that i would be living with for the next couple of months. i at first was a very angry child with a PTSD diagnosis. and the slightest bang would trigger me and i would explode. My life at home was terrible constantly being self injurious to my body. I was mean and rude to my mom and stepdad. when i got to BRC i hit a brick wall metaphorically speaking and my life just changed slowly but surely. while i was there i made some long lasting memories at the same time. some were good while others were bad. thanks for letting me share.
My daughter was diagnosed with( rad ) which is reactive attachment disorder. She obtained the symptoms in the period where she was not living with me due to constant negative occurrences during that period of time. After multiple doctor visits and six different types of therapists. I had reached out to my insurance company which is provided to me through my wife's employment with Fairfax County VA. They were very very helpful, after reviewing her case they suggested the best Center for her treatment was the Barry Robinson Center. Now after pondering on sending my daughter away for a longer period of time than normal. I decided to take her because if she didn't get the help she needed she would never get better. My daughter has been at the center for a couple of months and I've noticed a complete turnaround now I cannot say she is fixed she was never broken. The therapist that is working with my daughter is definitely the best one for her. She has taught my daughter how to control her disorder my daughter tells me that the staff are a little strict. But without rules there would be chaos. As far as the premises it needs a little help. Overall the Barry Robinson Center deserved five stars only because they are helping my daughter it's because they are helping multiple children with an array of symptoms.
