Really beautiful and huge building. Stunning architecture and dome. Only downside was the extremely militant security. Guards were at every corner with large guns which ruins the atmosphere for tourists a bit. I did appreciate that anyone could watch the legislature from up above while in session.
Wish we would have had time to do the guided tour. Very clean and beautiful building with a lot of interesting state history.
I m not a super Texan by any means and in no longer live there but it was still great to visit the capital building. Great architecture to see. Parking was easy to find and going inside was free, which is always a plus. As for the monuments, yes some are being looked in a harsh light, and I don t agree with them but they are there and yeah I took pictures of them. Anyways it s a good place to go and also to go to have your voice be heard.
We took a little walk and checked out the Texas history and read some about the Alamo and Emancipation Proclamation. Loved it!
Beautiful and stunning architecture Must visit place in Austin, Texas. Clean, well maintained surroundings. Great place to shoot pictures and videos. Free parkings on weekends .
Just strolled around the outside, but it is very well-groomed and landscaped with old live oaks and Confederate and Texas monuments dotting the grounds. The building itself is a brilliant reddish brown colour, unique among state capitol buildings. Worth a visit for any reason why you might need to visit the capitol. Cheers.
Beautiful gardens with trees from all over the world, also an amazing architecture. If u are in Austin this is a must see.
Absolutely beautiful and worth a visit or two! All the charm a Capitol should have with the corresponding Texas flair. So much to see inside the building itself and then there are the grounds and visitor center. I'm usually not a big fan of these kinds of tourist things but I thoroughly enjoyed this experience!
