Dr. Barnett is in my opinion an outstanding neurosurgeon. I've been a health-care provider myself for over 30 years. After working in the industry for that long, you develop a keen eye for medical staff who "live the mission" and those who don't.
I researched possible physicians for my disk-replacement surgery for several weeks prior to deciding what to do. Dr. Barnett's patient outcomes and his skill sets made it pretty clear after doing my homework that he would be an excellent choice for the complex spinal surgery I needed. After talking with him in person and seeing the systematic and very organized way he analyzes his patient's symptoms and what type of surgical approach they might need, I was convinced to use him for my surgery.
He will not push you or rush you into a surgery decision. What he will do though is arm you with the very best information you can get about your condition so you can make a smart decision.
After 6 weeks post-op, I can say my results and the care that I have been given at Texas Neurosurgery are outstanding. I could not ask for a better outcome or better people to work with. No surgery comes with a guarantee of success no matter who does it. But having an extremely skilled surgeon who is very experienced, dedicated to his craft and keeps up with the latest techniques can certainly put the odds more in your favor.
In every encounter with Texas Neurosurgery's staff before and after my surgery, I found the same level of care and dedication from the nurses and support staff. I can also say the same for the Baylor-Dallas hospital facility and staff. The cleanliness of the hospital and efficiency of their operations is the best I have ever seen as someone who has worked in large medical centers for many years.
The combination of having the physician's clinic right there on Baylor's hospital campus plus a very nice guest house hotel for family to easily stay on-campus make it very convenient also. You can save yourself time and transportation worries, especially if coming from a long distance away.
I drove several hundred miles from out of state to have my surgery done there when I could have had other less advanced procedures done at home. But I am sure now after going through it and seeing the outcome that I made the best possible choice.
