In 2036, Texas will celebrate its bicentennial anniversary. With an estimated population growth of 10 million people by then, the state is facing new challenges that require innovative solutions. This is where Texas 2036 comes in.
Texas 2036 is a non-profit organization that aims to create a better future for Texans by addressing the state's most pressing issues. The organization was founded in 2018 by former Texas House Speaker Joe Straus and businessman Edward W. "Rusty" Rose with the goal of providing data-driven solutions to complex problems.
The mission of Texas 2036 is to ensure that Texas remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family for generations to come. To achieve this goal, the organization focuses on six key areas: education and workforce development, health care access and affordability, infrastructure investment, natural resources management, public safety and criminal justice reform, and state government performance.
Education and Workforce Development
Texas has one of the fastest-growing populations in the country but also one of the lowest high school graduation rates. To address this issue, Texas 2036 advocates for policies that improve educational outcomes from early childhood through college or career training.
The organization supports initiatives such as expanding access to pre-K programs for all children regardless of income level or location; increasing funding for public schools; improving teacher pay; promoting career readiness programs; expanding access to higher education opportunities; and supporting research into effective teaching methods.
