We have visited and purchased de Telmont champagne many times over the last few decades. Now, in the UK, they are stopping supplying Majestic as we found out at our last visit. We bought the taster box and two other cases - the four more expensive bottles were all uniformly excellent. Looks like we'll have to keep stopping by. Best to call to arrange a tasting in these Covid times.
We had a private tour with Lucile, we got the prestige tour. It was worth it. She did an excellent job, we learned a lot and the champagne for the tasting and appetizers were the best. I highly recommend this tour
I was welcome by this warmth family and get one of the best experiences! Highly recommended.
We were there for the vendange, and apart from seeing how the harvest was done, it was a bit of a disappointment. It was a steep and long climb to where we were going to do a bit of harvesting ourselves, and we were promised a drink there, but there was nothing save some water, the first disappointment.
After spending a (fun) hour there, we went back to the garden, which was very nice, and where we got a tiny bit of champagne. Two refills later (fortunately, there were refills) and we got a full glass in total... The champagne was okay, but there was no possibility to taste any of the other ones they make here!
To make matters worse, the food was a huge letdown as well. We paid 40 euro's for a very small first course, and then the main dish was a huge amount of lentils, half a small potato and some ham? It was a peasant's dish at best, not something you would pay that much for. And the champagne stopped coming as soon as the first dish was away too.
No, this was VERY expensive for what it was, as was the champagne itself. We visited a lot of smaller houses where we drank all we wanted and where it was a lot cheaper. We were hoping to sample all their different champagnes and purchase some cases, but this was just overpriced in every way. Fortunately, the other one we visited made up for it and we went home with superior champagne at a much better price.
Fantastic experience in a small family owned winery. Delicious champagne!
We visited this domaine with winefriends on a studytrip. Excellent explication. We were also impressed to find that J de Telmont sells a lot of older vintages.
