Ted E. Bear Hollow, Inc.: Providing Compassionate Grief and Survivorship Support
Ted E. Bear Hollow, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides free grief and survivorship support to individuals of all ages in the Omaha metro area. The organization was founded in 2001 by a group of dedicated volunteers who recognized the need for compassionate support for those who have experienced loss.
At Ted E. Bear Hollow, we believe that everyone should have access to competent grief and survivorship support regardless of their financial situation or background. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals can share their experiences, find comfort in knowing they are not alone, and learn coping skills to help them navigate through their grief journey.
Our Programs
We offer a variety of programs designed to meet the unique needs of each individual we serve:
1) Children's Grief Program: This program is designed for children ages 3-18 who have experienced the death of a loved one. Our trained facilitators use age-appropriate activities such as art therapy, play therapy, and group discussions to help children express their feelings and learn healthy coping skills.
2) Teen Grief Program: This program is specifically designed for teens ages 13-18 who are grieving the loss of someone close to them. Our trained facilitators provide a safe space where teens can connect with others who understand what they are going through while learning healthy ways to cope with their grief.
3) Adult Grief Program: This program offers support groups for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one at any point in life. Our trained facilitators provide guidance on how to navigate through difficult emotions while offering practical tools for healing.
4) Camp Erin® Omaha: Camp Erin® Omaha is an annual weekend-long camp experience specifically designed for children ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them. The camp provides an opportunity for kids to connect with others who understand what they are going through while participating in fun activities such as swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, and more.
5) Community Education: We offer educational workshops on various topics related to grief and loss throughout the year that are open to anyone interested in learning more about these issues.
Our Impact
Since our founding over two decades ago, Ted E. Bear Hollow has provided compassionate support services free-of-charge to thousands of individuals throughout Nebraska's largest city - Omaha metro area - including Douglas County (Omaha), Sarpy County (Bellevue), Pottawattamie County (Council Bluffs), Harrison County (Missouri Valley), Mills County (Glenwood). We've helped countless families find hope during some very dark times by providing them with resources needed during this difficult time period after losing someone dear or near-and-dear-to-them; our impact has been felt far beyond just those directly served by our programs!
