Built in 1737 by the will of Charles of Bourbon, the first king of Naples of this dynasty, it is the oldest theater in the world.
Rebuilt after a fire in 1816 in the neoclassical style, it was and is the reference point of music in Europe.
Here the first of many works by composers such as Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti and director of the theater were also unveiled, was Gioacchino Rossini.

The interiors are manicured, the chairs are elegant, the acoustics are excellent.
Every work represented there takes on a very special charm.
Guided tours are possible to discover this wonderful theater with very good and prepared guides.
The production of this theater is very prolific with numerous events on the bill, both opera, ballet, and concerts.

In my opinion, the visit to Naples must include a day in the theater.

The location of the accommodation is perfect. Elegant building, very nice studio furniture. They leave the services to be desired; in particular the beautiful but not working shower with hot water that comes and goes and is unusable. In the bathroom the radiator for which you are cold does not work. The whole building would need maintenance

The most beautiful theater seen by me in Italy, located in the center of the Neapolitan city, with a lot of staff dedicated to making you perfect; I have been on a stage and I advise not to sit in the seats behind; perfect sound. An enchantment to be experienced at least once in everyone's life.

It's long and glorious history of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, named in honor of San Carlo Borromeo, the Holy One of Charles III of Bourbon, who strongly wanted the building. The theater was inaugurated in 1737, on November 4, the day of the Sovereign's name day. Carlo lll building the theater had launched and won an authentic challenge: Naples was again the capital of a Kingdom and the San Carlo helped make the city a cultural reference of international value. On the podium and on the stage of the San Carlo performed the most prestigious conductors and the greatest opera singers of the time. The theater is located next to the Royal Palace and the Umberto Gallery, in a splendid building with important decorations. Inside, it is absolutely worth mentioning the room that has an area of 26 meters with 184 boxes, in addition to the real one. The huge semicircle stage measures 33 meters. The main stages are decorated with delicate bas-reliefs and the royal stage is decorated with a luxurious red cloth with gold lilies. The large ceiling is embellished, in the center by a painting by Cammarano depicting Apollo and Minerva. The theater has also experienced some period of financial and organizational difficulties but has always been able to recover by returning to being a great capital of the world of opera. Finally: the San Carlo has been called the most beautiful theater in the world: will it be true? We do not know, but we close with the great Stendhal, who wrote: "There is nothing in all of Europe that even comes close to this theater, but it gives a clue."

If you are in Naples and want to see its magical side, you must visit this theater. The price of the guided tour is 10 euros, but if you are young under 30, the ticket costs half. The guide is very prepared and manages to convey his passion making even the most skeptical of visitors excited. The theater can only be visited with a guide.

Although tickets for the performances themselves are hard to come by in these special times, it is still possible to purchase tickets for a guided tour of the opera's various rooms and the lavish hall.

Despite countless wars, bombs and earthquakes, the main house still stands in all its splendor as it was created in the 18th century.

A guided tour takes about 35 min. We were so lucky that we were allowed to hear the orchestra rehearse the Magic Flute, which dares us to say that a performance at the opera must be worth all the money.
For the test, the hooks sounded good!

The Teatro di San Carlo is magnificent, I cannot find fault with this place. First of all the staff is always prepared and courteous, then the corridors are splendid and very clean and finally the theater is huge and leaves you speechless. I went to see Swan Lake by Pyotr Il'i Tchaikovsky and after this experience I always want to go back. Recommended for all people of all tastes, you won't regret it, I'm sure.

Beautiful theater. Too bad the facade is still under renovation, but the interior is breathtaking. The guided tour was very interesting and gave us the opportunity to know its history. It would be fantastic to see some works. Recommended.

Beautiful, I went with my girlfriend to see the nutcracker and it was spectacular, only flaw is that the seats behind the balconies come at the same price as those in front ... while not seeing the same way ... could lower them not having a perfect view ..

I have seen several museums but this seemed to me one of the most beautiful, a museum that over time has not suffered damage and therefore has remained intact. beautiful the royal stage and the finishing touches of all the other stages. Good general visibility. I have not been able to attend shows for which I cannot express opinions on acoustics. The presence of elevators allows the use of the stages also for people with disabilities or with walking problems. Of value the pastry bar in the theater where at the time of the visit you were a local person who played on the piano in the center of the room (he occasionally goes there as a hobby) an ex artist who cheered us with arias by different authors of classical music and songs from the Neapolitan and Italian classical repertoire. We went back several times in our short stay.
