Visited the ER for a severely infected toe. The only nice person working was at the front desk. The nurse and physician that attended to me were very rude and condescending. They had zero drive to help me whatsoever and tried to kick me out before covering my infected toe. I literally had to ask for a bandaid to cover my wound back up. When the patient has to ask a nurse for something as simple as a bandage, that is not right. Super unprofessional and will not recommend anyone go here, even in an emergency. You could die from lack of skill and neglect in this ER.
I am very disappointed at the lack of bedside manner towards me when my husband was in the ER & also on the 3rd floor when he was admitted. There were a few nurses that were appropriate & professional.
As someone who has worked in a hospital for over 16 years, I understand that a nurses workload can be overwhelming but I do expect for staff to be a bit more compassionate towards family.
We are also under the stress of our loved ones in the hospital.
Disappointed with the service at the front desk for booking an appointment. I was very confidently told that the insurance will cover the visit. And after the claim is processed, I got to know they booked me for an extented network doctor. This is completely unacceptable. Do not so confidently promise something you aren't sure of or ask the patient to confirm from the insurance provider before you take the appointments.
this is a rich persons hospital. If you need ER and can survive an extra 30 mins, drive to Renton or Seattle. Swedish's ER has exorbitant fees just to see an ER DR because they know people in the area can afford it. 1/10 stars
Very nice facility. Beautiful place for a hospital.
Normally this is my go to hospital. Always had great care. Today, not so much. My daughter had a full blown seizure and 6 medical staff attended her, got her on meds and iv started. That was the last time we saw anyone for 2 hours. She had 13 seizures before we finally talked to a doctor. Doctor came in for 2 minutes, said see a neurologist, and we have been waiting for 2 hours just to get released.
Like many others who have rated Swedish 1 star, I am joining in. My situation starts in August 2020. I was scheduled for a procedure but then called a few days later and told my procedure was being switched to another hospital in the area as Swedish was out of network for me. Okay, cool I appreciated being told ahead of time! Fast forward to January 2021, I obtained an infection from one of my earlier surgeries and was again scheduled at Swedish for two additional surgeries. My first surgery was scheduled for the 18th (Monday) and by around 4:00pm on the 15th (Friday before) I still had not heard from Swedish. I thought this was odd since I typically always hear about a week ahead of time from the other hospital I had procedures done at to schedule a COVID test as well and do the registration conversation. So, I called Swedish COVID testing line and requested to schedule an appointment for Sunday. I was told I had to come tomorrow, which was Saturday, because if I took my test Sunday it was not guaranteed to make it back. I live across the state and there was no possible way for me to make it over the next day due to work. I told them the soonest I was able to come was Sunday, but had they called ahead of time I could have made arrangements. Then the woman begrudgingly put me on the schedule for Sunday, as long as I acknowledged that my test results may not be back in time (my test came back in more than enough time). After this I called the registration department and told them I was scheduled for a surgery on Monday but I had not heard from them. The woman did not have an answer for me as to why that was, but said she did see me on her list. She said we could complete the questions right then, but before we started I asked her to please make sure my insurance is in network because in August I was told it was not. The woman assured me I was covered. So, I have my two procedures done 1 week apart from each other, believing my insurance was in network, since I specifically asked and was told yes. Very similar to another review that was left. Now a month later, I received my portion of the bill for over $32000. When I called and spoke with insurance regarding why it was so high, they informed me this was because Swedish was out of network. I then immediately called Swedish and asked if calls were recorded, because I was hoping to get my call from January 15th as proof of me asking and being told I was covered. They told me they did not record calls, and then I was told hmm that s weird though because we take Premera, and also they usually don t do scheduling and registration unless the person is in network. A registration employee told me this. After further investigation, it turns out my plan is 1 out of 3 Premera a plans the hospital does not take. It is pretty problematic when not even the hospital employees, whose job it is to answer questions about patients eligibility cannot even accurately tell which plans are in network and which are not. It is not ethical for a hospital to be telling patients their care is going to be covered when they specifically ask, and then still expect for patients to pay ANY amount of money. What a terrible hospital organization.
I don t want to post this against all of the faculty in the hospital. But when I called to ask about my test, the lady who picked up my phone twice just hung up on me without giving me any responses. I live 35 mins away from this hospital and have to drive all the way there to make sure they do provide the test. Now I am on my way there and if I can t get my test, I will be very disappointed about their services!
Dr. Ramakrishnan was great.
The operator transferred me to The poly clinic.
Called back, the operator transferred me to Seattle. Called back, finally the operator sent me to the correct office in Issaquah, but the office was close at 4:30 and my call went to the answering service. They could not help me. The website said they are still open. I guess it is wrong. There has been a lot of communication and clarification issues with this place :(
