Can I leave 0 stars? I had 2 rings retrofitted with cliq. Both were a serious disappointment. The first ring evidently was originally yellow gold and plated with rhodium. It is my engagement ring. I think the plating was probably wearing off after over 30 years but the ring was not yellow gold. BUt that is the way it came back. They removed all the plating and put a yellow gold shank on it. AND NOBODY CALLED ME! All of a sudden, I had a yellow gold ring. SO the jeweler replated it. THe shank will not hold the plating. I have had it replated 3 times in less than 2 years. I would have done nothing if I had known this was the outcome. The second ring is a worse story. It is a diamond solitaire in a platinum setting. A ring like that tends to catch on a lot of things. So the cliq mechanism stopped holding after less than a year under minor pressure-like catching on a jacket sleeve when you pull your arm out. I was lucky not to lose the ring. I should have done more research. Their site says: We recommend removing your CLIQ® ring before any activity that may damage it, for instance, sport activity, cleaning, gardening, or other activities that place excessive pressure on your ring. And yet they claim that this supports an active lifestyle. Of course all of this taking on and off of the ring increases the risk that you lose it. Of course, they did not refund me my money and the jeweler soddered it shut. This was easily the worst purchase decision I have ever made. And I can't imagine how I would feel if I had lost my mother's engagement ring.
