First class everything & beautiful views in every direction.
Absolutely stunning views. This is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and relax!
The view is stellar. Friendly staff. Unique lodge ambiance. Food is pretty good.
Amazing location with incredible views.
No matter what time of the year you visit you will enjoy recreation at its best.
Skiing, mountain biking, horse back riding, swimming, boating, etc.
The kitchen serves mouth watering food that you will love every time.
There is no place else in the Methow where the views are.more expansive and the air more crisp. Try the chicken curry soup in the bar (face West and enjoy the view).
Great view. Had a great breakfast and it was priced well.
We stayed there for 2 nights, great location and a nice setup. The rooms were cozy and nice as well.
What's good:
Ambience
Rooms
Views
Fireplace
What's not:
The location is kinda far from the city, getting there at 7pm we did not find a spot to eat in the restaurant. Which is a bit unusual to have no seating available in a remote location
The WiFi is pretty spotty
I would have appreciated some easy way to get coffee in the lodge, the only way is to go to the restaurant which is pretty slow and sit down style.
Very relaxing lunch. Beautiful drive up to the lodge. People of all ages. Will have more time, next visit, to take it all in. And there is alot!
I've never stayed there, ( although I DID work there 37 years ago ) but we went for lunch and it was fabulous Of course the views were unmatched, the service was fantastic, it's a beautiful place inside and out.
It's not too expensive, considering all of the benefits.
Worth the drive, and worth the money.
First class Lodge, first part constructed 50 years ago this year, then expanded over the years. This is an absolutely top-notch place, not just clean and perfectly maintained, but classy and tasteful in all ways. It's not cheap or inexpensive, but the prices are justified by the many touches that make the rugged lodge construction blend perfectly with a sense of luxury and high-end decoration.
A magical place to kick-off the holidays! Food was excellent and the ambiance was so festive, warm and relaxing.
Beautiful location on the Methow Valley. Would highly recommend a visit.
Loving this stay. Snowshoeing with fabulous views. Hospitable. Beautiful Lodge and art decor.
Beautiful location, amazing views and good service.
Nice place, was only there for a few hours but would love to go back to see more
We loved this place, they had everything from Tesla charging station to very nice gift shops and a 4 star restaurant with killer views.
The rates may seem steep until you get there, then you understand.
The only flaw was the unsecured WiFi combined with very poor cellphone signal, that s a recipe for disaster.
Always Incredible ... rain or shine, it's like living in heaven for a while... looking out at the majestic North Cascades beyond but having all the creature comforts you want. Okay, no TV, and the internet could be zippier these days (it's been sooo slow for years - it's adequate for Wi-Fi calling to supplant the barely existing cell service but bringing it up to today's standards would be in line for the 4-star resort this is)... but... I digresss... you're here because nature is your TV and deer walking up to your deck is your entertainment. And you have a 5-star dining room at your fingertips for amazingly prepared food... or a pub if you want something lower key - but equally delish. Yep, I'll keep returning no matter what (and secretly hoping for improved internet )
This place has great views. We were in 419 and our balcony was shielded from the afternoon sun, but still allowed great views of the valley from a mountain top. They had small binoculars in the rooms. The hikes in June took you from the lodge to valleys with wild flowers. We ate once in the dining room, which was pricey but very good. Try the chicken curry soup.
Trails are NOT dog friendly. No dogs allowed in any of their trails.
Lovely grounds, staff, except for front desk we're pleasant. Front desk didn't smile or say hello. Other then that I highly recommend staying here.
Our stay was great we came here for our honeymoon. Staff was super nice. Be prepared though there is only one restaurant on site and it is very very expensive menu is very high end fine dining. You will want to finish your food as there are no microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms which was really irritating. We stayed for 3 nights had we not had coolers with us from traveling trying to have cold drinks would have been frustrating. We love the quiet county theme but for the price we should have a few modern ammenties such as microwaves, fridges, and a usb port. Also our mattress definitely needed replaced. We will be back they just need a few modern upgrades for the expensive cost. We had a blast though we went horseback riding and got massages. We are planning on returning when the pools and hot tubs reopen, they are closed due to Covid.
We had a wonderful stay. View is breath taking, lots of trails and other things to do. Staff is friendly and welcoming and the food at the restaurant is amazing. There is no tv, which is a positive but it has a good internet service.
Nice place with plenty of activities to do at the resort
Tons to do on site but not a lot to do around it. Absolutely gorgeous view and wonderful rooms. Food is a bit on the expensive side but not a lot of other options in you don't eat here.
Superb lodging and 5-star service, exquisite dinners, hearty breakfast, and best massages we have ever had. Trails, hiking, swimming pools, and surrounded by jaw-dropping, breath taking views everywhere. There is something for everyone. We came for rest and relaxation. Mission accomplished. We simply can't wait to come back.
Great views. Trails and activities close by. Entertainment room with table tennis and foos ball.
Nice service, nice snowshoeing trails all around it.
Beautiful resort the views on the way and from the resort are amazing
Beautiful location. Quiet and well organized. Rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. Food is great as well.
Just came for a little snowshoeing. Beautiful views and reasonable price. Also went for drinks at the bar, good service, prices are a bit high but what would you expect.
Wonderful first class resort. Three rooms are large and we'll appointed. The views - when smoker from forest fire isn't an issue - are spectacular. The resort is definitely geared toward the outdoors, there aren't even TV's in the rooms! However if you are into walking, hiking, horseback riding, biking, then this is the place for you. And if you're not into any of that, it's a great place just to relax, read, and hang out. Great restaurant and bar, and near the tourist town of Winthrop for wandering. Highly recommend this resort!
Very friendly staff, great burger at the bar and grill, kids loved the kids meal offerings. Lots of activities very close or on property, awesome vacation!
After reaching the town of Winthrop, we drove 10 miles up a hill to reach Sun Mountain Lodge. On the way up, we have a good view of Patterson Lake. I wasn t expecting Sun Mountain Lodge to be so spectacular or I would have booked more than one night. Our room exceeded our expectations. The king size bed was firm and comfortable. We have a fire place in the room. Best of all, the balcony stretch the width of the room and we have the view of mountain ranges. We can also see the mountain range from our bed. I kept the drapes open so that we can view the sunrise. The breakfast room again has floor to ceiling windows. From our table by the window, we can see the town. They have an outdoor jacuzzi which we would have loved to enjoy but it was too windy and cold to get from our room to the jacuzzi. We hope be back again again to relax and stay for two or three nights.
We visited here a couple of years ago and found the lodge to be a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the west side. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the views were gorgeous.
The restaurant downstairs was amazing with a wonderful selection of wine and beer.
The suite we had was so comfortable and relaxing with the perfect amount of "rugged" to remind us we were on a mountain top.
Great hikes surround the site and the lake below was a refreshing place to cool down from the summer heat.
Service was excellent. Dinner was delicious and the view is phenomenal.
I love this place for it's timeless architecture and comfortable main areas with fireplaces, comfy chairs, and massive log beams. Service is warm and friendly and the staff takes wonderful care of their guests. And the food is exceptional carefully crafted by their talented chef at very reasonable prices.
Went up just for recreation. Good cross country skiing here and fun sleding. Better spot than downtown Winthrop but its a bit harder to get to. They plow the road, but its still a bit of work to get to.
Just GORGEOUS. Take the sleigh ride to a cowboy dinner!
I do not recommend Sun Mountain Lodge, particularly the dining. It took us over 3 hours to have dinner. 15 to 20 minutes to order drinks, another 15 for them to be delivered. Ordered dinner and it was at least an hour. No explanations for any of it. People who came in after we did were finished with their meal before our food arrived. We were the last ones in the dining room and the receptionist /cashier hurried us with the bill when our dessert arrived. Breakfast wasn't much better and on Sunday morning the tablecloths looked like they had been slept on they were so wrinkled. They have first class prices and 3 or 4 class service. Definitely not work the money!
Great lunch watching Seahawks and spectacular couples massage. Do the 50th anniversary package.
Attractive, comfortable rooms, classic mountain-lodge look, but somewhat disappointing food in the bar dining area. Food in main dining location is overpriced. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Of course, the views are gorgeous & the trails are great year round.
Just a fantastic gem of a resort. The lodges are gorgeous and service is top notch, but the main attraction is the grounds. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking, biking and horse back riding. When you are at the resort the 360 degree views are spectacular and you literally can t hear a car you are so far from any roads. It s one of the nicest places I ve ever stayed.
Visited the lodge to get dinner, drinks and listen to music. The bar-restaurant was clean. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks were delicious. Portion size was enough for the price. Huge selections of cocktails.
A bit spendy but beautiful place. Great spot for a drink on the deck with valley view and grazing deer to watch.
Came for an event ended up going for a quick hike along the countryscape around the property beautiful area.
Mt biking, hiking, horseback riding. Beautiful views
Views are beautiful. Horseback riding, hikes, swimming, places to read, a spa. What more do you need??
The view was beautiful and the upkeep was excellent
Lovely place up in the hills. Great food. Rustic but comfortable accommodations. Just know that if you want a room with a tv please ask for it when booking. This is a place to retreat and enjoy nature.
This place is awesome! The views are beyond belief. the natural beauty one finds here is also matched by the superb staff, dining room, menu, amenities, and rooms. This place should be on everyone's bucket list!
Stayed at one of their cabins (116). It has a lake view and it's super quiet and peaceful. The cabin was very clean - although I would highly recommend that they swap out the old sofas and curtains - I think they were the reasons why there was sort of a funky smell. Other than that, the staff were professional and friendly. They also covered extra stuff about Covid.
Beautiful hotel with all the amenities: swimming pools, hot tub, mountian bike rentals, horseback riding, quality restaurant and bar, and an immaculately kept garden. Open your wallet, it's not a cheap place to stay. You don't have to stay there to enjoy all the activities they offer.
Fabulous place great service wonderful staff. Beautiful building in a magical setting
My wife and I just stayed in the Robinson section of the resort. The location, views and room were fantastic. I was quite impressed as we checked in. The room was in great shape, other than a piece of fruit in the wet bar sink drain that got missed by housekeeping.
I m only giving two stars due to our experience at the restaurant and bar. We dined three times at the resort, twice at the bar and once in the formal restaurant. The service by the wait staff and the quality of the food was mediocre at best. The people running the bar always seemed to be chasing their tails. I m not sure if they were all new on the job or just amateurs. Wait times were lengthy despite not being busy. In the formal restaurant, there was no hostess as we arrived at our reservation time. One of the cooks started to get us seated until a server appeared. All was well enough at our table until I received my steak. I ordered it cooked medium, I usually like medium rare but when I m at a restaurant I ve never been I play it safe. The steak I was served was so bloody it was mooing at me. Our server didn t come back to check on us for quite some time. My wife had nearly finished her meal by the time she did. I respectfully showed her my steak and sent it back to the kitchen. Our server came back with my steak and it was cooked to medium. All this time my wife and I had ordered a bottle of wine and were enjoying it. We finished our meal and were finishing up with our wine when our server came to the table and requested we get up and leave the restaurant. She instructed us that two people were waiting on our table. I was dumbfounded. The restaurant was only at roughly half capacity. If people were wanting a table, why not seat them in one of the numerous tables that were free?
Moral to the story. This place has great views and our room was very nice. The food program is not well run and I would not recommend eating there. There are several places to eat around Winthrop and Twist.
Had a wonderful stay at the Lodge .The grandeur of the trip a d relaxing
in such beauty takes your breath away! The food is absolutely delicious with the most tender steaks we have ever enjoyed. Looking forward to our next visit and can"t wait to go back..
My family and I recently stayed at one of the cabins and the photos are so much better than the actual place. Then we had breakfast at the restaurant in the main lodge and service was horrible! We felt ignored by the staff, they took forever to take our order and had to wait about an hour for the food to come out -- no one had the courtesy to let us know why we had to wait so long and they were not friendly at all. Seems like if you go on an off-season time they don't care to provide decent service. Very disappointed!
It's Beautiful and relaxing. No TV and no cell service it was Awesome it's been a long time since I've been just to relax.
We were driving the Cascade Loop with 4 adults and a baby in an SUV when we stopped at Sun Mountain Lodge. We started the day near Anacortes, traveled Highway 20, and ended the night in Chelan. Sun Mountain Lodge was well worth the detour off the main road, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
We ate dinner at the bar and grill, and enjoyed a quick game of ping pong while the baby got a bit of time to crawl around and generally get a break from her car seat. Both were fabulous. I was very impressed at the depth of the cocktail menu, and the food was quite delicious.
It also helped that we arrived in the late after in the fall, and the colors of the leaves were spectacular, as was the view as we drove in and out. If you get the chance, you should definitely check out Sun Mountain Lodge.
Excellent venue. Well-maintained, warm and the views... Wow.
Stayed on the third floor facing the valley. Nice room. Quiet, comfortable bed, nice decor.
Had a great time, the service was amazing, had a great time playing in the water, and met loads of cool people. It's so great because they offer entertainment for people of all ages.
An interesting location but badly over rated. The service is lousy. The food not worth it and overpriced. We had a confirmed, in writing, reservation for two singles but the only thing available on arrival was a single king sized bed, not acceptable for two senior aged male friends. We left before breakfast and ate breakfast in Twisp.
Been coming here for years. Not just a lodge but a place to stay and enjoy the outdoors. Visiting Patterson Lake and the Cowboy Dinner via horseback are highly recommended.
Booked a horseback ride here and rode through the incredible landscape of Methow Valleys. I can only recommend it. The processing of the booking and the tour preparations were perfectly organized! Nothing to complain about.
Very nice views and food. Great main lobby and place to relax. Really like the real fireplace and hearing the crackle of the logs blazing away.
Food was great. Our waiter Payton was fantastic despite being extremely busy
Attended an event, no pet allows on ground. Family friendly. Had a outdoor playground.
Beautiful acres of scenery, great service and accommodations.
We photographed a beautiful mountain top wedding here and couldn't rave about it enough! The views are stunning, the staff is very accommodating and friendly, and the architecture and rooms are perfect for a mountaintop lodge. Highly recommended to any couple considering their venue options.
Very fun and relaxing time with family Ringing in the New Year. Did little skiing, snow shoeing, sleigh ride and hot chocolate/apple cider. My dinner was a Grilled chicken with grilled carrots, asparagus and brussel sprouts. Delecious!! Couldnt of asked for better service.
Sun Mountain Lodge is a fantastic getaway! There are a variety of rooms that you can choose from ranging from about $160 a night up to about $350 a night. We stayed in the Robinson cabins which were fantastic! We arrived late, but the front desk was very helpful to get us going. Upon walking in, you are greeted with a beautiful bathroom area with a window into the main living area. The furniture is rustic and gives an outdoor, rustic vibe. Our room had a small stereo and fireplace. There are no TVs here but there is free Wi-Fi. The property is beautiful and there are a ton of great hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails! You won't regret the trip! It's so peaceful here!
We went for drinks at their bar and was blown away by the view! Great spot!
Great views for dinner. Family friendly. $30-$40 a person for dinner.
It was one of my best experiences, the excellent service, the delicious food at a very good price and the simply great activities. I recommend it 100%
Beautiful views nice place and great breakfast in the restaurant. Very inexpensive for breakfast
Rented mountain bikes for a great trail adventure. Staff were knowledgeable and very helpful. Wonderful trail suggestions and terrific maps!
