Be aware that if you have benefits with Sun Life that their online system is completely inaccurate and useless. Online it said that my children were eligible for their next dental checkup, so I booked them in. To my shock I was billed for the whole appointment as they weren t actually eligible according to Sun Life. Why even have the option to check online when it s wrong and then there s no accountability on their behalf for the error. The customer service is horrendous and can t go off script to help you out. I would be very cautious using Sun Life!
Two months after I filled out the paperwork for claims from my husband's death, this company hasn't even processed the check...and is still giving our HR department a run-around. The standard time for a survivor to receive a life insurance check in the US is one month or less. So not only have I completely lost my spouse's income, I'm in trouble financially as I have some bills dependent upon this check.
I'm recommending to my employer that they find a better company for our life insurance. Note that this company already is NOT accredited by the Better Business Bureau. (The company also tries to get you to put your claim money into their non-insured "bank," with allowance for changing charges and values in the fine print).
