I have always enjoyed dining at Sumos; however, last night was not a good experience as the food was very salty. The regular chef who normally cooks, was not cooking last night. The staff was very friendly and professional, as the manager did not charge me for my meal; however, I left without eating.
Large Portions!!! Sumo is very good! Went there on Mother's Day and the special was beef, shrimp and chicken hibachi for $29.95. We definitely received a great portion of food. The rice was seasoned to perfection!!! You also get mixed veggies and cabbage. Ate my leftovers on Monday and it was just as good as it was when I ate it fresh!
They take forever. Like 1 hr 20 min forever. Not to mention they are pricey.
I don t recommend this restaurant because the owner doesn t value customers. I placed a to go order waited a hour and a half to come in and the owner tell me she made a mistake and cancel my order. I asked to place another to go order and she said fine when my sister asked for some type of acknowledgment of wrong doing, all we got was bad customer service experience. At 9:00 she said the kitchen was closed cause she didn t want to service us. I told her this horrible I been waiting since 7:30 and I was going to write a review, the owner said she didn t care. If a person doesn t care about the customers how can you trust the food there providing.
We hadn't been to a hibachi restaurant since we lived in upstate NY eight years ago and our children were desperate to go to one. Food was amazing! Beef was so tender and tasty, cooked to perfection. Of course, the "show" was great fun and kept us all entertained. All the food was just so good (and lots of it). Not the cheapest of places for a family but the quality of food made the price worth it. Would definitely recommend.
Followed current VA Phase 3 Covid19 protocols. Chef cooks at the adjacent grill top. Great to see their serious approach. Food portions were still enormous and flavorful.
My friends and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night. We were in a great mood laughing and having a great time. Then we noticed that we were being treated very different than the other guest at our table who happened to be white and the other of Asian descent. The waitress was rude to us then turned to them with smiles and was very polite. The cook was the same way, he even purposely put a smaller portion of food on our plates. When we asked him did he run out of rice he was rude and argued back saying it was the to go box that we asked for because the plates were dirty. When he was done cooking he noticed that he did give us less rice so he went to get more. He never apologized and when he was done cooking he turned only to the other side of the table and asked them how was their food and left. I will never visit this restaurant again.
There was an hour wait to be seated, after the greeter attempted to seat a party that came in after mine. I wish I could give a separate 5 star rating for the chef and a 1 star for the establishment.
Food was delicious. Staff were a delight and attentive to our needs. Price was good for what you get. I would recommend to anyone
