I'm very bitter off this experience. The madelin cookie was very hard, the king cake was overly sweet and tasted stale. The mushroom tart had a sweet base??? The sandwiches were cold and the fried chicken was old i think and dry. The eclaire thing outside part was old and stale as well. They didnt give us all tea because there werent enough teapots?? Extremely disappointed. These high reviews are lies. All lies. Do not do the high tea set meal thing.

This is a beautiful, vibrant place. The customer service is great as well. It is laid out full of tasty, colorful deserts, many ice cream options, and an array of toppings. I had the turtle cheesecake ice cream. So delicious!! My wife had the vanilla ice cream with cake toppings. She let me try hers and my goodness it was the best!! They have some of the best ice cream. If you like rich ice cream, this is the place.

I recently visited and got a chocolate caramel cupcake. The chocolate cupcake was VERY very dry while the caramel buttercream was subtle and not overly sweet. It wasn't nearly as good as hyped up to be... largely a disappointment.

The idea is great. They have everything on display in limited quantity to give you the impression of scarcity. This helps them jack up their prices. Probably one of the most expensive eclairs I ever ate. But then I guess there is not much variety when it comes to bakery in this part of the city. Try them if you must but I will avoid them next time.

Their gelatto is creamy, rich, and delicious. As for their pastries, I did not buy any but their creative selection of treats and the presentation of the items were a treat for the eyes and (I can only assume) the stomach. A little on the expensive side but completely worth it.

Oh my God. This place is amazing and they were really understaffed on thursday because it was a busy day but normally it's their slow one. The staff were so accommodating and they comped our meal when it took more time then it would have normally. The beet salad was to die for.

Haven't been here in some time and the thing that struck me was how great the place looked. Great decor! Sadly not one person greeted me and it took forever for my order to be taken. The place was not packed and there was a surplus of employees behind the counter so there were no excuses. Oh and the brownie was dry with little taste. Great cupcake.

Their bread pudding is amazing! I was also very pleased with their gelato. I got the toasted almond gelato and it tasted just like almond!

I was a little disappointed by both of the macarons I had. They lacked flavor.

My first stop every time I'm in New Orleans! Excellent deserts and lattes. And ridiculously phenomenal chocolates! You can sit inside or out. Service is friendly and helpful. Definitely give them a try!
Update. I am very sad to report that they are closed permanently. A tremendous loss for the Garden District. There are many great places in New Orleans but Sucre was outstanding. I will drink an Au Lait to her memory!

This is a magical store with many delectable desserts. It s a great place to grab gelato or even look at their wonderful bakery. They also do a lot of catering for weddings and events so go in and check out this beautiful store. The colors and the candies remind me a of a great dessert store in Paris.

Just as good as it ever was! They do tend to sell out more now than they did before, but that just shows that they are still quality and popular.

I'm not a huge fan of the lack of open pricing, but most of their options are similarly priced. Given the sourcing of their ingredients, a high price is justified.

A solid gelato place in an otherwise ice cream desert (seriously, why does new Orleans not have more ice cream places?). Also does macarons. More of a commercial feeling place than a local shop

Excellent service, very clean, desserts range are exquisite in presentation and taste. The coffee is excellent and they are concerned that it is fresh and hot when they serve it. While in NOLA we went there every night for coffee and dessert... A great find!

The chocolates and macaroons are good. It is a nice place to have a cup of coffee and a fancy treat. I will patron the place again to try a coveted canolli, however the cake I bought was bad. The salted caramel chocolate cake had very little flavor and the cake was watery not moist. I was a little surprised given the quality of thier other items. The cake was beautiful but it just wasn't very tasty.

Very delightful find via good luck. Great looking and better tasting. Outstanding presentations. Hopefully they recycle their cute little plastic cups so they don't end up in a landfill or floating in the gulf!

Very nice place to dine. It was quiet on Sunday afternoon, with quick service and a great meal. There are two widescreen television sets attuned to the game on one of them and a food channel on the other. The staff has been attentive and generally professional. I would definitely recommend eating here. I will come back when it's busy maybe in a Friday or Saturday night and see how well they handle a busy load.

Great quality and friendly staff (most of them). Four stars because of the same problem I've had several times in both stores: there is no line to order. Upon arrival you don't know who's next. Instead of making a line or taking a number there are patrons all over the store, some of them asking "who's next?".You need to be watching your turn as someone who came after may order before you do.

My son and his family moved back home to KY (Yay!) in December 2013. They had lived in Louisiana for about 10 years prior and much of that time in the New Orleans area. I ordered a King Cake from Sucre as a surprise for them a few weeks ago. They said it was the BEST ever. (And they have eaten their fair share of King Cakes!)
Very pleased. Thank you, Sucre, for a happy ending to my story and extremely fast shipping.

I don't care for macaroons and such but they have the third best king cake in the city to me. It's not dry just wish it was larger for the price which has gone up since I started buying. They also have some good pecan snacks.

I just love this little shop! I make sure to stop here every time I come to New Orleans. The gelato is good. They have no issues with you sampling every one on display. However, I come for the macaroons. The special flavor this go 'round was the blackberry lemon. I never thought those two flavors would go together; I was so wrong. I wish we would have bought more of those. There's only street parking available, but it's just a few short blocks from the streetcar stop on St. Charles Avenue. There's also a bus stop across the street that runs to Canal Street.
