Stray Rescue was referred to me from a neighbor, because I found a small carrier with a young kitten inside on my way home from work Sunday evening. When I called and explain the situation the 2 young women that helped me were fantastic. They did not beat around the bush, or turf me to someone else. There professionalism was exceptional and explain what I needed to do. I gathered the kitten and headed out to the facility and proceeded to call them once I was in front of the facility when I arrived. They said it will be a few minutes that someone would come out. Before I knew it out comes a woman and helped me. They were seriously so kind and sincere. You definitely can tell these workers loved there job and the animals.. THANK YOU so much!!!! Incredibly slow replies, if not outright unresponsive. Took nearly 2 weeks to get any response, asked if we were still interested, we replied same-day, and after 5 days with no reply they removed the animal off the site.
Have never heard back.

We've moved on and adopted a wonderful boy from HSMO that perfectly matches our lifestyle. Within a few hours of meeting him in person he was home, happily lazing on our couch; but we're still heavy hearted from the attachment we developed for the cat we thought we'd might get for weeks.

None of our calls were ever answered or called back, either.

The only reason I'm not giving just 1 star, is because not many places give good descriptions of their animals (especially cats), so it earns them an extra star despite everything.

This afternoon was my first time at Stray Rescue. I am amazingly floored by the professionalism and love working inside this business. From the moment I was greeted, through the thorough Foster parent orientation, to the love and encouragement I was given as I walked out with my first foster cat I was amazed at every turn. I am so proud to be a part of this great organization now.

I am just so glad there are people out there giving care to those poor abused dogs. If I could I would adopt all of them. I always check their stories and it really warms my heart to see dogs healing and finding a new family that will give them the love they never had.

A year ago I adopted a 5 year old terrier-mix . My bad... I didn't check him out, just fell in love with his picture. Turned out he was 15 lbs overweight and very leash aggressive to other dogs. He was more than I could deal with and I had 3 options -- return him to the shelter, euthanize him (out of the question) or give him to someone who could deal with him. That's what I did -- gave him to a trainer who within 2 months has reduced his weight by half and has placed him in a home with kids and other dogs. He's now a happy dog. The trainer said he should have never been given to me in that condition with so much weight which I didn't know how to deal with. I called Stray Rescue several times asking advice as how to handle him with such odd behavior as not going off the porch or attacking other dogs on the street, as well as his weight. I never received a call back.
I'm now awaiting another dog. Very disappointing.

Dropped off some food donations. I can't comment of their customer service or how things are inside. But what I can say is, their commitment to the animals of STL and other places, is beyond amazing. They dedicate so much time and many resources to helping each and every animal they can to the fullest. Follow on IG to see for yourself.

They helped me find the right dog for my son. They took some time to process my application, but when they did, they worked hard to get me find the right dog. Their space for meeting the pets is great. It simulates a home, and there's no rush. They gave us so many little perks and extras when we adopted and they offer ongoing support. I couldn't be happier.
