What can I say about Stony Brook Medicine?? We had a long battle March April-May and June with the coven 19.. Things are starting to look the way they used to over there. I would only recommend anybody to go to any hospital in emergency only And if you have severe trauma!! The staff at Stony Brook is one of the best I ever seen. I will give this a 5 star rating. But please understand this is not a hotel!! It is a trauma center and don't expect to be treated like a king or Queen everybody gets treated equal.. We treat all patients with the most compassion that we can give. Please note We are doing limited visitors at this time Due to social distancing which I'm sure you will understand. Visiting hours are from 3 to 5 via appointment.

There are many things that you can do if you just take your time looking for it. There arent many places that you can visit but there is LIRR and busses. So people have any options even if they don't have a car. The campus is fairly clean. But it could have been better.

Stony Brook is a great school. I graduated in 1988 almost 30 years ago and I still feel my education was fantastic and an incredible value. I feel like I still use things that I learned from that time. Great professors and interesting classes. I have nothing but fond feeling about stony brook university.

This school is depressing. There is nothing to do here unless you have a car, which you have to have 57 credits to have anyway or be a commuter. If you want to do pre-med, go somewhere else because this school will crush your dreams. Also, you will get tired of the dull food everyday because they don't change anything up. Not to mention that if you want to go home weekends, you have to pay $13 for the train. Also, don't expect to get a full ride here and plan to be broke after you are done with this place. They got excellent bubble tea and a good eop program. Other then that, don't come here.

I just changed my rating from 4 to 1. The network here(and i'm talking about kelly quad here) is probably comparable to some dog crap; it's extremely unstable even when using a cable(cuz the connector is freaking broken and nobody cares, just splendid). Meanwhile it's November 14th and no heat is coming for my room, like what, I didn't pay the extra fee for the heat? The living condition is absolutely horrible here, so I don't care how good the education is, the school does not deserve anything better than a rating of 1 unless it really starts to care about how well students live. Food overpriced. Try to live off campus. I don't even want to talk about some other ridiculous stuff, just know that the dorm is inconvenient af.

It's essentially a research school. I found the best majors to be in no particular order: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Electrical Engineering (online), and Material Science. Most of the tenured professors with exception to PHD students don't care about answering questions and don't do a good job of discouraging cheating on exams or copying homework. The TAs are useless as they often don't speak English properly and have a limited grasp of the subject itself. The best students at this school comprise of Stuyvesant and Brooklyn Tech graduates.

Wow, what a gorgeous campus! Getting their from JFK was not fun, if you can fly into the local airport try to make that happen! Amazing staff at this university and surprising amount of research going on. Surrounding area is fun and the on-campus hotel is a big bonus!

I had to bring a client there for vomiting and they had us sitting in waiting room for 5 hours. My client became upset and was about to have a behavior because they were becoming impatient and where in pain they were giving patients medication in the waiting room and discussing people s diagnosies out loud around others . They had people in there in the waiting room wearing hospital dresses . The paramedic in the front was no help and Kept Giving me a number of people Ahead of me . Needless to say we were not seen until after 11pm they. Super suck

Some classes were large but all in all it was a great education. Teachers were smart and helpful and there were many TA's to supplement the classes and answer questions.
Stony Brook is one of the best values out there today.

This is the best public university in New York. If you like to be stuck in your dorm all winter in Buffalo. Then go to Buffalo but if you want to be part of a diverse community with plenty of events then go to Stony. They have an amazing study abroad program, extracurriculars, astronomy nights to music concerts. I can't believe Princeton Review ranked Stony as having the worst looking campus. NYU doesn't even have a campus!

There area few really great teachers at this University, but there are others who could really step it up... There are students who are feeling as though they are not being taught the course material properly. If things are required extra from the class (ie. coding) there should be extra help offered or a refresher course set aside for those who might be needing help.
A monotonous lecture followed by no follow through on how steps can be taken to get to a certain solution, or no diagrams for those who learn by seeing it done. These are simple things that can be added to your teaching routine. I mean hell, you are being paid to teach are you now? Might as well teach everyone in class and not just those who are 'passionate enough to learn on their own'

Some help please? A little more effort on your part please? Some of us are trying our hardest and still feeling bothersome asking for your help, which you should give willingly.

I have also attended MIT and Stanford but STONY BROOK IS THE BEST. I learned MORE there than at either of the other two institutions . The faculty are really great and my professors were VERY smart and they liked to spend time chatting with you. President Stanley is also quite accessible. The campus is beautiful, filled with trees and lavishly landscaped with fountains, ponds and even a 'stony brook'.
I strongly recommend any prospective freshman to please check out what's available at Stony Brook. There's a lot and I think you'll be surprised . In a good way. Best of luck. Norman A Bernstein
