My favorite place ever!!! Stockyard provides a place for anyone and everyone to reach fitness goals, make new friends, and become part of a family. New to CrossFit? Intimidated by the thought of the workouts? Worried you won't "fit in" because your fitness level is different than others? NONE of those things matter! You will be welcomed with open arms and feel more comfortable than you could imagine. The coaches truly care about your personal journey and why you are there. I never thought I have made life long friends at Stockyard and am SO grateful for that!

I'm new to Crossfit and have been at Stockyard for 2 months. Within a week I was hooked and setting goals. I was struggling with my toes to bar, then I nailed a bunch consecutively a week or so ago. I was SO excited, I got a bar at home. Then couldn't do more than one the next 20 times I tried. I watched probably 15 you tube videos and still couldn't figure it out. Coach Jeff spent 10 minutes with me Sat and today I can't stay off my bar! I've got it!!
Not only are the coaches knowledgeable and encouraging, my fellow gym rats are as well. Friendly, down to earth group of people who are SERIOUS about fitness!

I loved SYCF from my very first drop-in. The coaches were eager to help me and thoroughly involved in the class from beginning to end. When I dropped in a second time and they remembered my name, I was impressed and decided not long after to join. Three years later I'm stronger than I've ever been, healthier than I've ever been and am still as hooked and impressed as I was on day one. Fabulous community, supportive, friendly, strong, happy, fun and definitely one-of-a-kind. My home away from home.

This is gonna be long, but there are not enough words to describe my love for this place.

Before I started Crossfit, the only people I knew who did it were in shape and something like Crossfit would come easy to them. Until my mom did it...at 53. She didn't tell me until I saw her after a 3 month span and looked better than I'd ever seen her in my life, no exaggeration. Previously, walking 30 minutes once a month was "exercise" for her and she was a habitual yo-yo dieter. I was so impressed and told myself if she could do it, maybe so could I. Terrified, I tried it, and it was harder than just about anything I had ever done before. Like I cried, a lot.

I tried two different Crossfit gyms before Stockyard, one of which I went to about a year and a half. I learned the moves, and felt myself getting in to better shape, but I wasn't feeling strong or felt much progression after such a long time. Then I tried Stockyard, a gym that is literally not in any direction I would need to travel for any reason (I live in the city), but I heard it was amazing and I wanted to feel that way, so I went. Almost a year later I still go out of my way 4 or 5 days a week because the coaches do the same for me. The coaches and the family there believe in me before I believe in myself. It is without a doubt the place I feel my most vulnerable, even still, but also where I feel my most accepted, pushed, encouraged, supported and believed in. It is hard, and sometimes scary, and occasionally I still cry, but Lindsey and Ryan will find something in you you didn't know you had, and they will bring it out, and you will change, I promise you. I have found a deep sense of pride in myself I didn't even know I had; I am stronger physically, mentally and (sometimes) emotionally because of this place and I would encourage anyone to try it just once. That's all it took for me and I signed up the next day.

It's been worth every out of the way drive since and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Oh, and I can now backsquat the weight of a grown man and that feels real good to say :)

Being out of shape in my line of work is not an option!!!Stockyard welcomed me in a little over year and a half ago and it's been one of the best decisions of my life. Everyone is super friendly and supportive. The coaches go out of their way to make you feel at home and they push you to become better at every movement. Thank you Stockyard. I love this place.

I'm not naturally athletic or an experienced weight-lifter, but I loved Stockyard from my very first visit! I've grown as a person and an athlete since starting CrossFit at Stockyard and I'm so grateful for the inclusive, encouraging, motivating environment there. The coaches are immensely knowledgeable and experienced and are particularly adept at helping newcomers learn all the movements and appropriately scale the workouts to the right level for every athlete. I would highly recommend Stockyard to everyone interested in getting stronger, becoming healthier, and joining a caring and uplifting community.

Why do you stay at a gym for a long time? For the coaching and the people. The coaches all take the time to learn about your goals, strengths and weaknesses. They then help you emphasize your strengths while working towards eliminating your weaknesses. The people are all incredibly supportive. Whether you're a newbie or have been doing this for a while, the atmosphere nurtures and supports you.

I talked about joining a CrossFit gym for years and always had excuses. Mostly, I was intimidated by the superfit CrossFit types and didn t want to embarrass myself. I finally mustered the courage to join and was immediately welcomed into the family. You will not find a more welcoming and encouraging group of people. But, be warned SYCF is addicting!!

Absolutely wonderful gym, with outstanding coaches, and an amazing community of trainees. Attended while I was on temporary duty at Fort Lee. Even though they knew I was only there temporarily, they treated me like a lifetime member. I didn't have any crossfit experience and very little barbell exposure, they worked hard to teach me proper movement and always kept an eye on me to ensure I would not injure myself. Every workout was amazing and left me feeling great. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I was truly sad to have to return home and leave this amazing group of people. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!

I started here a few months ago and was a little discouraged at first since I couldn't do most of the movements in the workouts. I couldn't lift as much a anyone in the class and I spent the majority of the time during the workouts on one knee or propped up against the wall trying to catch my breath. But every single time I was encouraged by a coach or a teammate in the class to just dig a little deeper and push a little harder. Each day I went someone had a little advice or pointers on the lifts and movements and I began to improve little by little. Thanks to the outstanding staff and just plain awesome people who attended this gym I can do nearly all the things I thought were impossible when I started this journey. I wake up eager every day to go here to test my own mental and physical limits and be surrounded by people who want to see eachother succeed. It is a very unique family and I am very proud to be a part of it.

I have been apart of many crossfit gyms, but I have never felt as welcome as I did the day I walked into Stockyard! I have been here for two years now and looking forward to the many more. My weaknesses have become my strengths, and the community has become my family! I am stronger than I have ever been because of Stockyard!

I joined Stockyard because it looked like a fun place to be. It's a lot of fun, and even better, the community is welcoming, and of all levels -- you'll feel right at home. Workouts are scaled to you, and no matter what you will get in shape. And the people are fantastic, from the owner to coaches to fellow crossfitters to the friendly janitor. Join to get fit (and be strong as an ox)!
