The price and the customer service was fair to good. I m rating this a two because the course was in terrible condition. The greens were fast but rough with spots of weed grass growing from then. Some of the tee boxes were non existent. Nothing but ground and rocks on a couple of them. And then on the 11th hole they re using an artificial turf mat for a tee box. Oh and it was right next to the 40 empty beer cans all over the ground. The fairways were a bit patchy as well. A few times my buddy and I had no idea where or how to get to the next hole. They need some more signs directing!us to the next hole. This course could def use some serious money put back into the course instead of the owner s pockets. To me the owner has a failing business formula. For 5$ more I can go play at Fox Creek in Marietta and it 3-4 times as nice. I usually don t do reviews but I m hoping that this review sparks some interest in the owner s fixing this place up. I def won t be back until I k LE it s in much better shape. Thanks

I played there last week. The greens are in excellent condition and the putts are rolling true. Can't wait to return now that the temps are higher and the bermuda is starting to green up. A very noticeable difference in the condition of the course over the last 12 months.

Came here for the course and left wanting to come back for the driving range. The course seems like you are hiking up and down 18 mountains even in a cart. Every green is really soggy for some reason, and it hasn't rained in a week I believe. Most of the par 3s are a good length from the tips. The par 4s and 5 are not good, because of the hole layouts. If this course seems very cramped, thats because it is. The driving range is nice with mats, a partial roof, and NIGHT LIGHTS; grass does need work on though. Chipping area is nice with an elevated green, and a bunker. Putting green is small and simulates their greens very well. Will only come back if I want to play the par 3s at twilight for the discounted rate or for the driving range where they have an excellent pricing for balls. All staff were very very friendly!

Worst worst worst! Do not by any means go to this golf course! The tee boxes are riddled with empty beer cans and cigarette buds. Somehow with all that junk laying around they are allowed to have huge classes of golf students that book the entire back 9 holes and u can't finish out your game. Worst experience at a golf course I've ever had and I recommend you never go near it. People in the club house are extremely rude!

I played footgolf, the fields are in awful conditions, the holes aren't numbered or marked. Most of the flags were out of place which makes it extremely difficult to find the holes. We had to walk all over the place searching for the flags and put them in place. We made a comment to the front desk and all we got was; awww sorry about that

I have golfed at some bad courses in the past but this one tops the list. Tee boxes and greens are terrible. Just take a look at the practice putting area, the worst. Having to deal with footie golfers is another distraction the strangest experience any golfer could have. Golf cart that we had the breaks were bad and with the golf paths you need perfect breaks. Steep hills with curves and major water run off, if you go off the cart path you could be seriously hurt. I will tell you if they do not address this major safety issue someone will get seriously hurt or even worse may cause death. I'm usually a very aggressive driver, I took everything slow! I'm shocked that this course is still in business and they don't have an law suits pending with cart accidents, footie golfers getting hit with golf balls. I wouldn't recommend this course to my worst enemy.
Stay away, trust me.

Wow you guys should have paid me to play here sand all over your greens their beat up and a group of 10 foot golfers in front of me. I wasted 35 dollars here and had a miserable time. Save your money and play somewhere else.

You get what you pay for, in a good way! Affordable course, not too far from Atlanta. Easy drive, plenty of parking & a good price for a simple course. I don't play much, so having a course that's around $30 for 18 & a cart is a great deal. Nothing worse than driving an hour to pay $60+ for a course when you're an extremely amateur golfer.

Mostly Par 3's & 4's...extremely hilly, but straight lines from the tee box to the greens. 1 Par 5...very little tree coverage with the exception of one hole.

Thanks guys!

Started going to this course over the summer, and its been great. First impressions were not that good with the power lines and bland atmosphere, however, after playing a round it turned out to be an amazing experience. Once you get past the first few holes, you start to get a change of scenery playing through wooded areas and wide open plains. One thing that stood out while playing was the fact my party and I lost the lineup that was behind us (we're not the fastest golfers), which made the round a lot more stress free. My only complaint would be the driving range which is fairly small and almost unplayable if you are at the ends of the range's horseshoe shape. The cheap prices, friendly staff, and fun course are all reasons you should check out this casual hole in the wall course.

(P.S. Be careful near the beginning of the course, the hills are really steep and I almost flipped my cart)

It's one of the crappiest courses you can ever play on. I have played on courses all around the world during my travels and none are as bad as this one. The grass on the fairway is so long that you can stand right above your ball and not be able to see it. The signs are inadequate, missing and confusing. It's very easy to get lost when going from one hole to the next. I see 14/15 year old kids sharing clubs and walking the course and mind you this course is completely hilly so all groups behind these kids were backed up by 45 mins. Another time I saw a father teaching his son with four balls on the green and everyone else behind them was backed up. There is no ranger to ask golfers to pick up the pace. A round will easily take 6 hrs here. Pro-shop has pathetic and bad quality food.

Garbage. Absolute garbage. Never again. You cannot even see where the hole is and the course is just garbage. The grounds crew are disrespectful and don't care about the golfers (or the poorly maintained course for that matter). Half of the tee boxes did not even have grass just dirt and one was even AstroTurf, how can you even say that the course is respectable when one of your tee boxes is AstroTurf. Very few signs to show the players where to go. Also it is nearly impossible to distinguish the fairway and rough due to the amount of weeds on this course. Absolutely worst course I have Ever played.

Second time playing here. The first time we played the conditions of 15th hole tee box was more fitting for mudriding than golf. We got rained out after 4 holes and were not given a rain check to complete out 18 holes per their policy. Patently ridiculous. They will not be getting any return business from me or my friends.

Executive course that does have some challenging holes. Several "blind" holes that you need to study the card to guess what you need to do. Only 1 par 5 hole. Enjoy playing with wife and brother. Greens are in good shape for putting.

I won't be back to Steel Canyon as long as they don't value their customers. My group of three paid for 18 holes yesterday however on the 5th hole a very strong lightning storm started. We really wanted to play so we tried waiting out the rain in our carts. After 30 minutes of very hard rain, it wasn't stopping and several low areas were under a few inches of water. We drove back to the clubhouse, with their front porch under ankle deep water, and asked for a rain check but was told they don't give them. What course doesn't value their customers? Rain isn't the customer's fault nor did we leave at the first rain drop. All three of us paid $29 for 18 holes, not 4.5. My group plays around Atlanta weekly but won't be back to Steel Canyon as long as they don't value their customer's time and money. I have video of the weather and course conditions as I don't make a habit of giving bad reviews but this wasn't how the situation should've been handled.

WHAT A JOKE OF A GOLF COURSE. MY BROTHERS AND I WANTED TO FIND A DECENT, NEW PLACE TO PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF AND MAN WERE WE DISAPPOINTED. FIRST OF ALL, IT WASN'T AN ACTUAL GOLF COURSE, THERE WAS MAYBE 5 HOLES THAT WEREN'T PAR 3'S THE REST WERE. (DID NOT TELL US WHEN WE SIGNED UP) SECOND, THE TEE BOXES WERE... WELL I TAKE THAT BACK I WOULDNT EVEN CALL THEM TEE BOXES, MORE LIKE DIRT MOUNDS THAT HAVEN'T SEEN MAINTENANCE IN QUITE SOMETIME. THIRD, THE GREENS WERE ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSING. I COULD PUTT A STRAIGHTER LINE OUT IN MY FRONT YARD. (WEEDS GROWING OUT OF THEM, DEAD PATCHES, ETC). FOURTH THING THAT REALLY TICKED ME OFF AND WAS QUITE EMBARRASSING WAS THE FACT THAT THE COURSE ALLOWS PEOPLE TO PLAY "SOCCER GOLF????" ON THE SAME HOLES YOU PLAY YOUR ROUND OF GOLF. SO NOT ONLY WAS I WAITING ON TEENAGE KIDS TO GET OUT OF MY WAY OF KICKING SOCCER BALLS ON THE SAME PLAYING SURFACE THAT I AM CHIPPING AND PUTTING (WHICH PROBABLY EXPLAINS THE REASON THERE ARE BAD DIVOTS AND DEAD PATCHES ON THE GREEN). AND LASTLY, I PAID WAY TOO MUCH FOR THIS TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! $30 DOLLARS FOR THE TWILIGHT ROUND.
IM NOT A PERSON TO MAKE CRITICAL REVIEWS BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE TO ANYONE!
I GOT WORSE PLAYING THIS COURSE

We got harassed by the staff and rushed on every hole. We were followed around and told to hurry. We had new players that had hardly played and need to take their time and we were still rushed. I will not be taking my business back there. They are not worth the price to be aa harassing and demanding as they were. It is a public golf course not a country club.

Nice 18 hole executive course that is anything but boring. Par 61, with one Par 5 that requires a blind approach shot. You may need a Tee Time on weekends and holidays. Driving range is ok with some covered tees.

One of the first courses I ever played since starting to pick up the game of golf. The staff was courteous and went out of their way to help me anytime I needed, and the owner himself came out and gave me a bunch of pointers on the driving range when I was making a fool of myself. The course itself is a good par 3 and very well maintained. The driving range was recently revamped and looks awesome. One of my favorites!

This course is terrible. There is waterfowl feces all over the faiways. There is more sand and dirt on the fairways than in the traps. They don't pay attention to the tee times, the just let you go as you get here and get all bunched up. There is also trash all over the place.

Here's how I score it. Price to Fun factor is a 4. Its not a fancy Country Club, it's an executive course. But, you get the driver out and have challenges along the way. Lots of ups and downs, slanted greens with drop offs etc. Several blind tee shots make it interesting as well. Not a bunch of trees in the way, mostly open. (They have a range) Give it a go! Enjoy the methane

I've never written a review in my life (food, hotel, vacation, etc.), but this golf course is a joke. Hands down the worst course I've ever stepped on. I want to be perfectly clear - I don't play fancy courses, but I enjoy a decent round ($40-50/round). Steel canyon looks like it has never been maintained and it was about $30-35/round (not a great bargain). I made it though about 8 holes and left because of how pathetic this course is. Save your money and time - pay an extra $5 and play a nice course in the metro Atlanta area.

I heard about this course from my friend, so we tried it. Great group of people. I liked that we could play a full 18 on an executive length course. Great practice range too. Someone had a review with some issues, but I was fine with the carts and condition of the course. The elevation changes on some of the holes are a lot of fun to play. Glad we gave it a shot. Nice that it's right there in Sandy Springs.

I've not played the course, but I frequent the driving range. It is what it is...a low budget public course.

The actual driving area is nice, but the pin/grass area needs work. Lots of mud, etc. out there, and all of the pins/targets are on the right side for some odd reason. The signage is also rough because you don't know how far the pins are. I do believe they should at least get a range finder to figure this out.

Having said that, the access is quick and I can hit a small bucket in 20 minutes. The folks working the front desk are helpful and willing to give information when needed.

Would I go back for the range? Absolutely. I will be there within the next few days.

Steel Canyon is a genuine bargain. The golf cours...

Steel Canyon is a genuine bargain. The golf course is an "executive" size course with only one par 5 and lots of par 3's Holes 8 and 14 are long par 3's and when you play them from the back, they will really challenge you. Also, some of the par 4's challenge you with demanding approach shots. Many slopes to greens and fairways, so positioning is always an issue. The greens are reasonably good. Again, for the price you pay, it's a great bargain.

Plus you have a driving range, and there aren't many of them in town. The staff is professional and courteous. They're a lot of pros offering lessons so there's something here for golfers of (almost) all levels. OK, so a true pro will destroy the course, and it's too challenging for an absolute beginner. But for anybody in between, you'll enjoy the experience.

They've recently added foot-golf so that's an added bonus for youngsters.

I''ve been going there for about 14 years on an almost daily basis and have seen it go through multiple management/ownership changes, but it's better managed and in better shape overall today (summer 2016) than ever.

Ok so I went to this place to play an early mornin...

Ok so I went to this place to play an early morning round Tuesday at 730. The gentlemen told me that he could not match the GolfNow rate cause the point of the system was to reserve ahead of time. Seeing as I was one of two cars in the lot at that hour I figured he could make an exception, but I get it rules are rules I should of booked through the site. So I pay my green fee and head out. I should also note that I specifically checked their website to ensure this was not a Par 3 course. Once I get out there and look at the scorecard I quickly realize that the course consists of 2 par 4's and 1 par 5, the rest (15 HOLES) being par 3's. once again I can accept some fault for not researching exactly what an executive course meant. The actual play is where the true low ranking of my review comes from however. The course is very tightly laid out and extremely poorly marked. 80% of the holes you cannot see the green, which is understandable on a par 3 course, but they didn't even have signs out at the tee boxes depicting the layout of the holes or yardage. While this information is available on the scorecard, the teen box signs usually have some yardage for obstacles and sand traps which is useful information and how for the green is from the turn and so on. Most of the cart paths are also poorly marked and you have to guess which way to go to even get to the next hole. On top of that one of the two par 4's on the course was so badly maintained that I couldn't even tell which fairway was mine and which way I was supposed to drive. On the second par 4 I was excited to finally use a club that wasn't a 7,8,9 or wedge only to find a maintenance crew in the smack center of the fairway. I understand they need to do maintenance but once you see me, you could at least stop work and move your carts from the middle of the fairway so that I don't have to drive into the gully to the right of the green (this was a drivable par 4) to avoid hitting you, but the maintenance crew couldn't be bothered to stop their work and as such I had a wasted drive on one of the only two par 4's on the course. Long story short this course sucks, I could of gotten over some of the simple things and even take some responsibility, but the course flat out sucks and isn't worth the 25 bucks I paid to play!!!!

I was expecting Michonne to come around the corner with her sword. Very post apocalyptic atmosphere with the power lines buzzing and methane burn off in the holes near the retaining pond. If you are expecting Atlanta Athletic Club here, you'll be disappointed. What it is - convenient, challenging, and pretty fun!

There are several blind tee shots that are tough to manage. Please add some stick-style yard markers, that would help figuring best direction to hit.

Ehh. This is the only golf course I have been to in GA. The price was right, but the course is a bunch of par threes crammed inbetween some canyons and powerlines. I was not too impressed, but the greens were better than I thought.

The guys also gave me clubs to rent with no charge. For that they get 4 stars (5 for service, 3 for the course).

I did go to the driving range a bunch. Awesome prices on balls and plenty of targets.
