I called Starrett to get an updated ETA on a repair we had sent them.

The first time I called I was transferred to Chris. Chris apologized and informed me I was transferred to the wrong person but if I give the operator more information she would transfer me to the correct department.

I called right back and this time asked for the repair department. I gave detailed information about my inquiry and the nice young woman said "hold please." Seconds had past and Lo and behold, Chris answers the phone again! I laugh a little letting him know it was me again.
I could hear the frustration in his voice as he apologized numerous times and was confused as to why I was getting transferred to him. Chris then very politely asked for my contact info and assured me that he would find out who i needed to speak to in order to get the information I was inquiring about.

Moments later I received a phone call from Debbie who informed me that she got a message that I was looking for some information about an ETA. After I gave Debbie the details, she said she would get the information I needed and would call me back. Debbie called me back within a half hour with the information I needed!

Shortly after I spoke with Debbie, I received another phone call and this time it was Chris! Chris just wanted to follow up and make sure someone called me back and I got the information I was looking for. I told him that I spoke with Debbie and she did help me out. I thanked him for all his help and Chris informed me that if I needed anything else to just let him know.

I understand this review may be longer than my intentional "Hey that guy Chris that works for you, is Awesome! but he took time to make sure I was taken care of and I'd like to let everyone know it was appreciated and above and beyond great customer service!!

Thank you Chris and Debbie!

Not a great place to work. Yes, they are hand made tools, but it s not worth it. No one, especially the bosses listens to you or takes your ideas or concerns seriously. They do what they want. I wouldn t recommend working for them. (Especially if you re a woman, all the men are power hungry)

Great quality, these guys make consistently precise and accurate tools across a wide range of products including super-accurate references and rulers. I have a large set of tools from Starrett, and I find that they measure more consistently and accurately than other brands I've found. The make some great smaller stuff too (scribes, center punches, feeler gages) that hold up better than other brands.

I was looking for a STARRETT brand electronic caliper.... only to find a re-branded Import model with the Starrett name put on it. If I wanted a zombie, I could go to Harbor Freight or elsewhere, and get it for 40.00 instead.

It is truly sad to see you do the same as General, Craftsman, Brown & Sharp and others.

Once a brand gets diluted, even the items still made here become suspicious.

I was willing to separate myself with extra currency for this purchase.

Now I guess a Mitutoyo will be the one, if I can find one that is legit, and not a knockoff.

Precise, accurate quality metrology equipment that is maintainable and lasts for a long time.
When I need a measurement with well-specified NIST-traceable accuracy Starrett is the brand I reach for. Good selection of friction-thimble mics means thousandths and even "tenths" (0.0001") are easily and repeatably measurable. Great precision rulers and dial gages too!

Precision micrometers, indicators, height gauges, vernier calipers so stable and reproducible in our shop. Pay a little more, and they last a lifetime. They have a feel in the hand that no others have, that make these tools a pleasure to use. You walk away with certainty in your measurements.
