Super cute feel. We had such a good time going to a regular drive in to watch the movie. Super great concept and really brought me back to when my grandfather would take me to the drive in when I was younger. I look forward to going to more movies here in the future!

I went to the drive in at Vulcan video 4411 Russel drive. Got there and it s a little parking lot. Very sketchy and not safe. We turned around and went Home. Screen was an inflatable. Overall a bad experience and do not recommend going. Not at all representative of the website.

Bought tickets as a gift for my husband to go with his kids for Father's Day. They got there and were unable to get the sound to work. An employee tried to help, but was also unable to make it work. They left after 15 minutes. Per website instructions, I sent an email to request a refund, but they never responded. I called and left a message, no response. I sent a text message to their phone number as they request you do as well, no response. It's been over two weeks and I've been unable to get any type of response. Terrible experience and customer service!

Watched Clueless in The Yard theater. We had previously gone to the actual drive in (in a car) at the old location a few years ago (and LOVED it) and had really high hopes for this experience but was sooo disappointed. The yard was unprofessional looking, the traffic (including a fly over plane) was loud and distracting, and made it hard to hear. We could hear the movie from the theater next to us. The sound quality and picture quality were also very poor. The background music was so low and hard to hear compared to the dialogue, which made the movie sound weird at parts. Fast camera movements appeared choppy and glitched on the screen, it was so bad it made my eyes water at one point. The seats in the pictures showed matching sets of chairs, but we got two very different, but both uncomfortable, chairs. The chairs were also at totally different height levels, so my boyfriend and I felt so far away from each other the whole time-it was just awkward and uncomfortable. We also got the package with candy, popcorn and a drink. We were offered popcorn and got a snack, but were not offered a drink, so I assumed I had read the ticket wrong and tried to let it go. After the movie, I read it again and it did say drink too-just frustrating. We were so thirsty and went straight to a gas station to get drinks after the movie was over. Over all, The Yard theater just was not worth it, especially considering it was almost $40 with tax. We really wanted to like this and were so excited for a fun experience out of the house. Maybe if it had been cheaper, we got all the things we had purchased, and brought our own chairs, or if we had done the actual drive in with our car we might have enjoyed it more. I was hoping for a fun, cozy, kitschy-Austin, outdoor movie experience for a date night, but we both agreed we would have had a MUCH better time just watching it at home for free where it was comfortable. Maybe we will try a different theater eventually, but never again at The Yard theater.

We could not possibly love this place anymore than we do! We have been going to the Blue Starlite with our two young daughters since they were a truly small urban drive-in theater on E. 6th St. We have seen some classics and been able to introduce our daughters to Pee Wee at the Blue Starlite! We hope they just keep growing (but not too much) and we will be able to continue to bring our daughters to this amazing little gem here in Austin for many, many years to come. We'll just have to get a bigger car since we won't all be able to squeeze in one they're teenagers! :)

Drive-ins are largely nostalgic experiences, and I ve been to some pretty sketchy ones, as they don t generate the revenue they did back in the day, but I was very happy overall with my experience here. Yes, it was a movie on a screen and we were parked in a dirt lot, but the staff was beyond helpful and friendly, the grounds were well kept, and there were little touches everywhere that made it seem like the owners cared about your experience.

We went to see the Goonies 35th anniversary showing and we loved it. Would absolutely go back!

Always fun! The staff can be a little disorganized, and multi-movie nights can get confusing or run (really) late when you're not going to see all films, but everyone's super nice and it's a great, unique experience in Austin.

Went here for a romantic valentines day movie when they were showing Casablanca. Very cute/quaint drive in theater that despite being packed paid attention to detail and made our night special.

Not enough information like approx date you will open. I assume 2017 will be the year and where are you looking to have it. Like to know if the audio system will be tops. Would like to let my grandkids experience with what I grew up but better. I have pleasant memories of driving movies . I also hope your prices will be reasonable and have Family Nights. Just an idea

I rented this location for a private event and they handled it amazingly well. We were personally taken care of and catered to, and the flexibility with which they allow your vehicles and comfort level is extremely accommodating. The prices are also supremely reasonable and our event was made fantastic because of this theater.

Great idea but poor execution. I grew up loving drive-in movie theaters but this will leave you disappointed and wanting your money back. The screen gets smaller every time I go. The inflatable ones you see around town are larger and clearer. Imagine your neighbor with a cluttered yard rigging up a tarp and projector the in their back yard. The movies are expensive for what you get. I grew up getting a 2 for 1 movie.

What an excellent experience!! Great staff giant screen. The owner is very nice and was on sight. My one concern before we visited was that the area could be unsafe but when we arrived those fears were immediately put to rest. 10/5 stars would recommend.

Love the new location! Thanks for the first class treatment. Portable bathrooms aren't just a Porta-Potty, they are real, with a sink! The only reason I didn't give a 5th star was that the mobile site only let me choose front row parking, double date package. Which was awesome, but not what I wanted to spend on a 14-yr old's birthday movie! We'd have been fine with any other row, and most were pretty empty (so use a real computer to book ahead, not your mobile!). Next time we will use a Groupon or park and walk in with chairs and blankets. For sure there will be a "next time"! Everyone working here was so nice and helpful. You can tell they love where they work!

1st time there since they moved. Loved it! So much room. I was stupid and went when there were sold out and they let me and my date sit in the back (back) row anyways. Love them for not spoiling my date! I'll be back often this summer!

Very cute drive in with great movies and a pretty good deal on Groupon. The website could use a serious overhaul because it is hard to navigate with dead links and overlapping text especially on a phone. We had a great time once we figured out the website!

Interesting thing to do but the screen is rather dim and can be hard to see and you want to make sure your car doesn't like to go into power saving mode because it'll turn off a few times during the movie and you'll miss out on audio.

Probably better to try during one of the cooler months as it can get muggy.

This place melts my heart. The sound might not be great, the bathrooms are the portable kind, and the weather has kept me from going more times than once, but this drive in is something special. Every experience I have had here has been unforgettable. It is hard to find, but don't give up; yes, those strangely lit sandwich board signs are all the directions you are going to get from the street. Just keep going towards the water tower and you will eventually find it. There is a guy who sits in a lawn chair and collects your money; I am pretty sure it is cash only. Concessions are out of a trailer, but the popcorn is good and the service is genuine.

Loved the concept but having to keep windows 75% up made for an incredibly hot experience. Ordering from the convenience stand was difficult. I appreciate that they take Covid-19 regulations seriously but it ended up being more of a hassle than it was worth.

The concept was great in theory...a few things though... If you sit outside for a viewing take a chair. The ones provided are less than comfortable. The purchasing was easy and the staff was nice. It was a limited screening, however, the other audience members seemed to know each other, chatted through the entire movie and turned the sound off for the folks in the back. We had mosquitos and got chewed up some, and the pathways were not well lit. Next time i am opting to stay in the car. The kiddo thought it was great though.

This place is so much fun! I recently went on a date night with my husband and had a great time. We decided to pick up some dinner and bring it with us to the movie to eat in the car, which worked out perfectly. After eating our dinner we visited the small food trailer to satisfy our sweet tooth (so cute). The movie was great and sound was perfect coming through the radio station. Can't wait to take all my friends back for a movie night. The only thing that bugged me was their website reservation system is pretty poor. I mean all the information is there but you really have to make sure to purchase everything you need in advance. Example: you have to buy a car slot and entrance tickets per person, I found that slightly confusing on the website.

It was exactly what we wanted! Bathrooms and snacks, even a secret movie cat who came out to watch on the lawn. Super cool option for a night out. Looking forward to coming back in October or so when it's 20 degrees cooler!

It's a mini drive in theater. It's got the cool nostalgia thing going on, but overall quality is not good. Our screen had wrinkles and they obscure some of the picture. It was fun for sure, and I will go back to see more pictures but don't expect more than this. So if you are thinking this is a drive in of the days of old this is not it. I don't want to dissuade you from going, because it was a great experience and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. So go and support our local mini drive in and have a great time!

My cousin and friend were excited to come try this place out to find out we can t even sit in the bed of our own truck? And they had us sit in the hot car with our windows rolled up 75% which doesn t make any sense. Horrible policy s.

This was a really fun night out such a period it's just a fantastic concept. The relaxed, chill screening under the stars and trees, the Halloween decorations, and the popcorn, candy and soda included create a unique outdoor cinema experience (I got snow caps!)

Even if you've seen the movie before it, go for the watch it in different setting.

Best of all the staff was really helpful. There was a sound issue. I sent a text and they fixed it immediately.

Roaches EVERYWHERE. I know they can t help that but they could stretch the screen so that the image isn t so distorted, couldn t hear ANYTHING. It was such low volume. If I m paying $12 I d rather sit in a movie theater.

I expect that this place will only get better. I like the new location. Food line is pretty slow. Could use a little landscaping close to the screen and some tidying up, but they're in a new location, so it's forgivable. Would like to see some more recent movie choices rather than just classics/oldies. Also, the double features often don't seem well grouped (ie. I'm only interested in one or the other movies). Love having a place like this.

At first, my sister and 2 best friends who were in the car with me were really excited for this drive-in movie. We entered the drive-in and showed our tickets. Then we were told to turn left up to another person who would help us park. When I got to the other person I asked him if this was the screen for the Scooby Doo movie to double check. He said "NO" sighed really dramatically and then rolled his eyes. Then he ran behind my car and started motioning for me to back up. I started backing up really slowly because there were cars behind me and I tried my best to back up around them but there was minimal space so it was quite difficult. He eventually ran back to my car and told me to u-turn and drive around to the correct screen. I did this and once I was at the correct screen he started motioning for me to park my car in a specific spot. I drove up to where he wanted and he was honestly motioning with his hands so wildly that I was confused. I opened my window to ask him if I parked where he wanted but before I could say anything he said exasperatedly "you have to work with me." At this point, my friends were shocked by how he was acting towards me and I was on the verge of tears. Eventually, I was parked where he wanted and he left but the whole experience was ruined for me. I was so upset and angry throughout the movie. I don't know if he was having a bad day or was stressed because there were so many people but I don't think I can ever go there again because he made the experience so horrible.
