Palmer took care of my family in the ER last night and did a great job!
My wife had to have an emergency C section. Within minutes there were 10 nurses and doctors in the room ready to take care of her and our son. They kept her calm and made sure she was safe. After they took her away, a nurse came to check on me and make sure I was ok as well. Linda stayed past her shift change to hold my wife s hand and be with her as they administered anesthesia. That meant the world to my wife - the last thing she remembered before going under was Linda comforting her. Maggie was patient, kind, attentive, and calming through a very turbulent time. Amanda took special care to spend time with me and show me proper ways to take care of our son. I cannot speak highly enough about the care and love we have felt during this difficult and scary day. Everyone has gone out of their way to make sure we are taken care of.
We came to the ER today 8/30/21 around 12:00 am. The ladies at check in were so sweet specially the one that was helping people write down contact information and the one that was helping with check in. My husbands doctor explained everything to him in a very clear manner. He was also kind and friendly. All of the staff was great they were helpful and patient. This hospital definitely has some of the best quality people on staff.
Horrible. I know we are still in pandemic & I love St Vincent s but Sunday was hell. 6/20/2021. I had 6+ nurses, none of whom communicated with each other. I d called 911 & was brought in with a paramedic. He waited an hour with me & had to leave. I had no nurse call button, could not walk. I began to crawl to a bathroom. I got locked in. I pulled on the call button. No one came. I fainted. 2 other workers came in and angrily asked me who I was & asked me why I didn t get up to help them get me in a wheelchair
It was HORRIBLE
This use to be a great hospital but sad it is not even close to that now.
I was admitted in February and was in for3 weeks.
The staff was very short staffed and very rude. (I understand the reason but still does not mean you have to be rude.) Was told by one of the nurses that i was not that important enough to worry about. If she find the time she might come check on me. She had more important things to do then to be going to all these rooms. I was paralyzed on my right side of my body. The call button was on my right side and I asked them to not put it on that side but they keep it on my right side. I was yelled at and told to stop getting upset about not being able to get the nurse. I was Also to have physical therapy but seen them 2 times in the 3 weeks I was in there.
Second complaint is they stole my wedding ring.
I have tried everything and have contacted everyone from the ambulance to ER, ICU, and the floor nurses. 8 times in totally. Was told ever time we do not know what you want from us. Also sent a letter to the hospital. Have not heard anything from them.
I will never use this hospital again.
I never have a bad experience in St. Vincent s. The nurses are phenomenal and the doctors are wonderful as well. Everyone is so caring and kind and I definitely would recommend to anyone. They take wonderful care of you and your baby!!
My 25 year old son had one day back surgery yesterday at St. Vincent s downtown Birmingham. We this hospital and the wonderful people who work there. Our nurse, Tommy, in one day surgery was an angel. He really went above and beyond to make my son comfortable and he took the time to make sure he knew how to use his body correctly while transferring from laying, sitting to standing. He made sure we understood the discharge instructions and how to take his discharge medication. He kept telling my 25 year old son how proud he was of him. Thank you, Tommy, for making this surgery a lot less scary for my family.
I just had a 3 day stay in the hospital in severe pain and vomiting from an obstruction in my intestines. I was brought in by ambulance from a smaller hospital through the emergency room. I have had the best care by the most professional and friendliest staff I could ever ask for, from the Doctors, Nurses, Housekeeping and Food staff! Absolutely everyone that came in contact with me was extremely caring, friendly and professional.
My brother suffered a massive hear attack April 15. I live in Maryland and am the primary family for his care. The staff at St. Vincents have been VERY caring and compassionate. They have kept me informed in regard to my brothers care.
My blessings and thanks to the staff. My brother and I are military vets and we both extend our prayers and gratitude to these "warriors" for their service during this pandemic, while continuing to provide the greatest of care to people of Alabama. ROLL TIDE!!
Brought my mother in law in for surgery and we had to reschedule due to her blood pressure being too high. They sent her to the ER and I noticed there was dried blood on the rails of the bed in her room (room 27). Overall her visit has been good, they've been very attentive and concerned about getting her blood pressure down, they just need to do a more thorough cleaning after each patient.
