St. Joseph's Medical Center Stockton, CA Review

St Joseph entire medical and ancillary help are 5 star. The care given to me was so good it made being sick with covid 19 less frightening.
Covid hit me very hard and caused renal failure, sepsis, pneumonia, dehydration, and internal bleeding.
Never a moment when I was in the hospital did I feel unattended. At the end of my nurses long 12 hr shift they came and said goodbye and wished me well.
Some of my nurses shared that they had covid 19 and told me how it affected them as well as some other friends of theirs. This was helpful in letting me know that each case is different.
If you have to go to a hospital, I highly recomnend St Joseph in Stockton CA.

I don t see dignity the way you handle health care! My son got worse and almost died because of reckless and unorganized management. They discharged us even my son has a fever and not stable, it feels like we were kicked out. Now my son is at Oakland Children s Hospital and got surgery! That s horrible!

Physician.. offer only pain killer instead of checking the origin of the pain... have to go to another state to take care of the issue!

From the moment you walk in, you start experiencing below average services. The checkin lady at emergency showed us attitude as if we didn't speak English. It was her fault for entering wrong dates but she talked to us as if we were second class citizens. There were a lot of homeless people sitting in the waiting room who were eventually kicked out. We came in at 11 pm and saw doctor at 4:30 am for our infant. Hire more doctors please. They shifted us to pediatrics at 6:30 am. Then gave us room with shared bathroom and shower. What is this? A third world country experience. And the nurses act super sweet but when you ask for anything they ignore or deny your request. They belittle you and tell you to get your own meal. You charge thousands of dollars for each patient every day and you can't even provide them with a decent meal? I used this facility many times and it feels like a prison rather than a hospital.
You are no doing social services. You get paid well to do your job. Its time you do your job.

Very Bad, Especially after one had a seizure, and sprained her right arm and, entire hand. Was there Over 6hrs, and it was the Worst Urgent Care I've been Too.

The only reason why I give this a 2 star is because the nurse I had was great. I was also seen right away but only because I went in due to stomach complications. Now it goes down hill from here. I had an ultrasound done and a CT scan. The More

Nurse and doctors are typically really nice.
The fact that she was just seen in the waiting room then discharged really upset me.

Took my girlfriend to the ER. She was in a lot of pain, threw up several times, started getting a pain in her chest and had trouble catching her breathe at times. Waited for 3 hours and all they did was take her vitals and slap a wrist band on her. Never saw a doctor. We got tired of waiting and left. She's still in pain. It says they prioritize who gets seen first by the severity of their condition. They have no idea what that means. Kid walks in with an earache and gets seen right away. But my girlfriend has to wait. Way to prioritize.

Staff talking uneducation, waste time in emergency room from 5-8 hour, after wait there 3 hour and ask them how long it take, they said 2-5 more hour, what is emergency?????? I have to leave and go to another hospital. I think Catholic hospital should be nice, but

The absolute worst hospital in San Joaquin I was in severe pain they gave me some pills and sent me on my way after 4 hours and the doctor didn't even look at me .I never felt so powerless in my life and such anger

They got me in and out at a decent speed the staff was really nice went out of there way to help me. The next day after visiting I feel great and glad I went there.

The doctor was rude loud short with me. Ignored the patient I accompanied to this ER. Never spoke to the patient who attempted to speak to him about why she was there and he stated to her to stop talking that he wanted to speak to me. We were both so confused. Doctor ordered an X-ray I took that opportunity to bathroom and water when I went back patient stated boy they were glad you left they stated good she s gone I m still confused. Mind you a nurse in passing stated on mondays the students are in the ER and this doctor was their trainer we arrived at 9 and left after 3 it was busy but this doctor would visit a patient then go back to the deck and sit and talk with the students I timed it about an hour and then go visit another patient and I was told by a nurse he was the only doctor there until 3pm. Don t go on Mondays unless you re bleeding chest pain broken limb or something of this sort please try your best to go to your primary doctor. This isn t a complaint so much as an observation of the NEW St. Joseph s ER which looks very nice has more beds.

My sister received very good care from all staff on the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit and the regular Respiratory Unit. Hers was a diffucult case. The nursing skill very high..and the bedside manor very encouraging..what she needed..thanks to all.

St. Joseph s is a great hospital with a very caring staff of doctors, nurses, CNAs, orderlies, and administrators. They pulled me back from the brink of death, due to a severe case of the coronavirus. I would especially like to thank the pulmonologist, whose name I can t remember (blame it on the virus, for keeping me on the ventilator until I could recover. He told me that several times he didn t think that I would survive.

The bad things are that they lost my prescription glasses and brand new iPhone charger. To their credit, the staff searched throughly, but was unable to find either item. This wouldn t have happened if I had someone to secure them. But because of COVID no one could visit me, and I had to make the decision to go on the ventilator so quickly that there was no time to give directions to someone who could secure the devices for me. But I was able to get a new pair of glasses and get a new charger.

I don't understand why in the world this hospital hasn't been close they can't do anything according to there books they constantly lie and there sheets are philthy I would really think twice about going her, the staff are rude and they literly take more than 3 hours to do a simple request for water and clean sheets how in the world are they still in business

Do not bother coming in you will die before the doctor can see you. It doesn't even deserve 1 star would give it 0 if i could. Dont waste your time people been sitting here for 8 hours!!

Hard to believe, but when St Joseph's Hospital first opened in the 1800's it was for men only!

We have Kaiser HMO and they have a contract with St. Joseph s hospital.
I was disgusted with all of the drunks in wheelchairs lining the halls. Sitting in the
crowed waiting room with a lot of sick unwashed people got me sick!
If at all possible drive to another hospital.

Was Shocked when I heard of the treatment my Brother in law had to endure because the Evening ER staff SEEMED to be Uneducated in treatment of Persons with a Disabilities . Instead of treating him like WE ALL Should be treated,with Kindness n Respect, he was Treated like a common criminal.He tried to explain he was NOT on Drugs nor does he drink to no avail and was Ask numerous questions as if he was drunk or under the influence of some kinda drugs. Humiliating him in front of the public, when his only crime was being DISABLED..Shame on you !! 11-8-2015

Here were are 8-24-15..Finally someone from the hospital called to say they had investigated the incident on 11-8-15..Instead of saying that the NURSES in questioned were reprimanded My sister was given every excuse in the book for their FOUL BEHAVIOR of a disabled person. When my sister said this wasn't the 1st time he was treated like a criminal due to his disability she was HUNG-UP on..Great way to treat people Saint Joseph Hospital..Were better off going to a VET (ANIMAL) hospital for better treatment

Went there for a procedure on 7/29/19 I got admitted at 8:30am tru that time the people at that desk were extremely rude they didn't seem want to beer ther I was having a heart procedure they just made it worse. So went up to the second floor the that person was rude and different rules for every one my daughter had to talk to a supervisor. Then went back to get ready for my surgery and the nurses were using fell language the holl time I should have listened to the reviews never again will I use this hospital I will be letting Kaiser know all about this. very geto hospital and they do not make you feel safe.

Fast, peaceful, clean, and nice staff. I've been coming here for all my prenatal appts and haven't had any issues. I never wait more then 10 minutes for appts after check in. The person who gave one star, must be referring to the hospital itself. This is a medical office and doesn't have overnight patients. At least not that i know of. They do your blood work and sonograms and other check up needs. I've yet to see patients roaming around in gowns being neglected.

I am only giving one star because you have to choose a rating. My daughter just delivered her baby there, and has been treated like an inmate. She has been there for 4 days, they will not let her even go outside for fresh air. They impose their Catholicism on her because her and her babies father have not married yet, and that is why she isn't allowed to to get fresh air because the baby can't alone with the father because they aren't married. They baby was a little Jaundice so they kept her for observation, but she tested fine over 5 hours ago and they still will not discharge her and her family. They told her if she left AMA the insurance would not cover her which is untrue. This a prison, what a joke, after 15 years of being with Kaiser I am going to change providers because they chose to contract with this Hospital!

Help! No care here from this ER frustrated white nurse just long wait here and a bad attitude. I was ambulance in they don't care. Please here the truth if you let this white nurse in the ER know you want her Supervisor because of the lack of no patient care. She will fabricate a story so you won't tell on her she and the security guard will side together and she will call the police. She also will throw you in the lobby with no care. She is racially bias and it was very obvious the way she treated me as a minority. This is the worst hospital I ever went to.

Absolutely TERRIBLE. The hospital is dirty and unprofessional. My 91 year old grandmother was brought into the ER due to a fall which caused a laceration on the back of her head and severe back pain. The nurse didn't clean the blood off of her neck or wound for 12 hours. My grandmother had to wait until there was a shift/nurse change. My 91 year old 4'8 ft little Italian grandmother was receiving lots of fluids, when she asked for a bed pan the same lazy nurse acted like my grandmother was inconveniencing her. Then this nurse told her that she couldn't have a pillow because they were out of them in the ER. When this nurse dropped several things on the floor, she just left them there. Someone needs to remind the staff to RESPECT their elders not belittle or ignore them.

The only reason I gave the hospital one star was because of the doctor. The doctor was extremely professional. He had excellent credentials and bed side manner. But the 10 mins we spent with him can't undo the 12 hours of rudeness and disrespect my grandmother had to suffer through due to the nurse and hospital staff. Maybe someone should explain what the job of a nurse and hospital staff entails. If they are unable to fulfill these duties they should look for work in another field.

They have a bucnh of pregnant women waiting in a conference room to bee seen in there labor and delivery department. The women are having contractions. I hear the staff laughing and having a great time while these women wait... Plus as soon as we walked in the security gaurd made us feel like we were an inconvenience too be seen... These women need to he as comfortable as possible but not one nurse or staff member has mad and effort. Do not come here!!

I was treated like a crackhead and they took all of my medications away from me I had to walk all the way home from Hammer Lane with them chasing and following me in their cars I had one lady get out of her car and told me I had to come back with her I told her to f*** off they even took my birth control pills away..lol

Incredibly caring staff who does an excellent job despite the many challenges a busy ER, ICU and general hospital experiences on an hourly basis. Been there many times with my elderly parents, and while the hospitalist scenario was a tough adjustment, they've received excellent care and been introduced to some exceptional medical providers. I'm grateful to and for this facility on a number of levels.

Have been waiting for over 3 hours for my test results.

Me and my wife had 2 twin boys back in April blessed little Angels... But the staff seem to just laugh and joke around like there not working .im upset because we spent months picking are child's name and for someone to be lazy and spell the name how they want to not right ! I've called and went down to talk to someone one they are telling me nothing can be done and deal with it . I did not sign the birth certificate they did that's not right . We do not have right as parents no more can't believe this. ( Im be updating my post and putting names out soon as I can to help worn poeple of the nonsense that going on there !! Lost for words how poeple get treated now

Great, friendly service! I appreciate the willingness of the staff to provide answers to my questions and to provide copies of my test results in a timely manner.

Wish I could give this pitiful excuse for a healthcare facility a minus 5 star for negligent treatment for my elderly Mother who was bought to the ER as a Kaiser patient twice. Kaiser should be ashamed for contacting with St Joes for emergency services. If you are a Kaiser member and live in Sacramento or Manteca you receive superior care at Kaiser owned facilities but as in most things Stockton gets second rate service.

Security took my belongings and never returned my wallet including my social security card and ID. There is a patient inventory sheet Officer Moreno filled out when he took my belongings and it clearly states I had an wallet and it's contents. Security claims to have given the wallet to registration and never seeing it again but once my things were in their custody it's their responsibility to make sure they are returned to me. I will be seeking payback for the items stolen and I hope the security officer who was so negligent with my things understands now I have no ID to cash my check, pick up my medications, or seek treatment else where. Also my social security card so at any time my identity is no longer safe.

Please do not go to Saint Joseph's Dignity Health!! Nothing dignified at all about this place. Went there for abdominal pain. Never saw a doctor. A "nurse" came and gave me my results and told me that i had minor cysts on ovaries and liver and it was common and not a big deal and sent me home. One week later my primary care doctor has me in the lab for possible cancer on my liver and ovaries which was clearly stated in Saint Josephs report.

They take to long to discharge people. & say the results will be in soon and have you waiting hours

My husband went into the ER with COVID 19 and they didn t even bother to test him or give him any medications to help with the symptoms. They literally just told him to go back to work in three days. They also didn t sanitized the waiting area or anything. I guess they don t take Covid 19 serious. They just want it to keep spreading around. Beware of the ER at St. Joseph s not good. I think this is so horrible and unprofessional of them I m calling our insurance and reporting them this was not worth $800 .

I have Kaiser insurance and was hospitalized a few weeks ago somehow I ended up at this hospital which seems like a county hospital. I was hospitalized for a week and got to share my room with homeless people and drug attics. One of my roommates continued to urinate all over himself and defacate himself all day. This is located in one of the worst neighborhoods in Stockton Very dangerous at night. Every nurse and technician I had was 5 stars. There is only so much they can do with all the pressure and overcrowding management is putting on them.

I noticed This has only been viewed 6 times so it's being hidden from the public.

We had a family member come in to the ER by ambulance after experiencing excessive blood loss. He was ignored for a prolonged amount time, only to be found bleeding profusely once again. The staff barely gave him the time of day and threw him back out on the street LITERALLY without answering many of our questions. The follow up paperwork sent home was not correct, and the referral they made was not helpful because none of the hospital information from his stay was up on the portal for the specialist to review, even 72 hours later. I was so embarrassed that this is supposed to be the premier hospital in our area. Needless to say, our east coast family will never return to St. Joseph s.

Poor nurses don't have a help from CNA's, because the management discontinued hiring CNA. Please don't bring your loved ones here! My dad developed pressure ulcer in this hospital. Very dirty and disorganized rooms, smelly, and very small rooms that they even put 2 patients in a 10ft X 10ft room. Nasty

For being a hospital some of the staff are rude as hell! If your not happy then maybe working there isn't the job for you.

As soon as I went in there it was it was quick and easy and I was seeing very quickly one of the best places I went to for medical attention I'd recommend it to anyone and the personnel we're friendly I'm very professional

Cut my leg paintballing and I drove to emergency. When I got to the emergency room it was empty and I assumed I would be seen fairly quickly .After the room filled with people within 30 min. They got to everyone else but me then the room filled again and then once again I was neglected. After 2 1/2 hrs I just left and treated my wound by myself. Im never going back to that place again

Unbelievably unprofessional! DO NOT HAVE YOUR BABY HERE! Treated me poorly, did not provide proper medical care during my maternity stay nor in the NICU in my opinion. Gave out my personal information, did not provide confidential status as requested putting me and my baby at risk. They even gave my breast milk to another infant in the NICU! Not sure what the effect of the merge between St Jos and Dameron had in all this. I think they may have even kept my baby longer than necessary to benefit themselves financially. There Dignity Health public advertising doesn't match what really goes on there!

This hospital has award winning cancer center. . I had colon resection here 2 yes ago. All the staff the beautiful hosp was a great experience and for all illness they have wonderful support and continue care. I will always choice St. Joseph! !

Pray to GOD I will never have to go there. The name St. Joseph's should be removed; Joseph was a compassionate person.

My insurance sent me a bill with St. Joseph's as "in network". St. Joseph's refused to be in "network", and would only charge "out of network". For me, this felt like a health care "rip off".

Both my mother and father were hospitalized at St. Joseph's and each received cancer treatments here. While not flawless, most of our experiences were acceptable. My review is independent of the ER, of which I've had no exposure.

I m not sure what you are asking for but my stay at St Joseph s Medical Center was horrible. Your morning and afternoon staff were great but the night staff was terrible. They answered my call button but took their time to deliver help to me like... I needed to go to the restroom, they took their time and left me to get back to the bed alone. Then this one nurse I ll call Juicy Couture helped me get in the bed but I told her I wasn t laying right and she said ok and walked away not giving me my pillows back and she placed my call light in a place where I couldn t find it. I call her Juicy Couture because she had so much perfume on it lingered until the next shift. Some of them looked like they were on their way to happy hour or to war
they had on so much makeup. I pray I don t have to stay in that hospital again.

My friend went in for mastectomy surgery this morning at 5am. She has cancer again and this surgery is on her other breast. They have delayed her surgery 3 times from 10 and now it will supposedly happen at 2. I think that is unconscionable. It shows a total lack of compassion for the patient waiting. Having breast cancer is bad enough without being treated like an object. This hospital does not have any dignity..

Waiting for so long, doesn't anyone answer the phone there?

Everyone here is very unprofessional, doctors and nurses. I was seen here a month ago and everyone seems to have a mean face, like if they don't want to be there helping sick patients. If they didn't want to be there then maybe they should get another profession. Not just that, but they take for ever just to call your name, they don't care if your dying or not, you have to wait. I will never come here again.

All team members of the ER room were very friendly and informative.

The nurses were so caring from the beginning to the end. They were informative when it came from medication, and what to expect once I left hospital. This is my second delivery here and I would highly recommend it.

They made this hospital amaizing ,clean sweet and helpful,I was so surprised when I go there after six years so many changes towards best quality,
All the sides,it's relaxing the waiting area is so amazing naw they put chargers on the walls in the sitting room I love it,also they put boards for Ramadan I love the most

The treatment I received for a stroke has left me unable to walk for the last four years. No offer of pt/ot, which has significantly diminished my quality of life. Having once been employed by this hospital, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend St. Joe's for a complaint greater than a in grown toenail.

In 2014, I was admitted for a viral infection. I was treated and observed for two days and recovered.
But during my second night, I was dreaming that somebody in my hospital room placed a towel over my face and was trying to suffocate me. My head was being pushed/shaken violently. I fought and grabbed his wrist away and grabbed his neck. He lets go and runs down the hall. He was wearing a hospital gown with IV lines attached to his arms. He had no hair. I awoke in bed shouting out, you better run, or else! The staff nurse came to check on me. I said a man was trying to kill me. The nurse did the sign of: The son, The Father, and the Holy Ghost cross. I know patients pass-on in hospitals every day. These spirits don t know they ve passed. Some leave off and some don t. Some are happy but many are not. I suggest a ritual of purification of all rooms should be performed by a priest from time to time.

Only hospital services I want to use as the staff across all of their service areas, are courteous, professional, and care about their patients.

on June 23rd I was admitted in the ER the medical staff had cut off my new fathers days gift shirt.
naked and unbutton my shirt and removed it easily then cutting my shirt apart. so I was upset about that the attendant says oh well sorry about that. I told him you owe me a new shirt. after they check my vital signs. that everything seems to be normal. they just walked away and left me in the ER for about two and a half hours. I ask them what's going on they said they're looking for a room. they were waiting for lab reports before they can release me. finally all tests came back 3 days later then they released me. all test was negative. for 3 days in the hospital and doctors and other testing, I am getting all the bills lucky I have medical insurance. the total bill so far is $64,000. so really think about going into emergency Hospital situations. it could cost you if you don't have insurance! 3x

Worse place ever! My mother went in with upper respiratory problems and was in Respiratory ICU and while she hadn't fully recovered they slapped her into just regular ICU. She got sepsis and I had 2 different doctors look at it...they said it was " heat rash". She went into Cardiac Arrest brought on by the sepsis shock, she flat lined and they brought her back brain dead...2 weeks later we had to say goodbye. Please don't bring anyone you love to this Hospital. Before her Cardiac Arrest she told me several times this is the worst Hospital ever!!! I wished I listened to her.

I appreciate St. Joseph s great attention to kindness. All of their doctors, nurses, assistants, and staff have always made me feel cared for. My last visit was for physical therapy and I had a wonderful experience. I think their encouraging, positive attitude had a lot to do with my prompt recovery. I highly recommend going to St. Joseph s!!

My friend was taken to St Joseph's to the emergency room,icu and the hospital( not icu) and the staff has been nothing but nice to him.They have taken care of my friend with excellent care.His illness is serious and doctors did tests and surgery on him and we couldn't be happier.Thanks to the nurses in icu for treating my friend with care.

I had surgery done here 12/11/19 and I was a bit skeptical because of all the bad reviews. But it was a great experience. From the ladies in administration to the pre op and post op nurses to the anesthesiologists everyone was great. Kind and sweet. Made the scary surgery experience a walk in the park. Definitely recommend this place if you want to get any type of surgery done.

HIPAA VIOLATIONS!! Came in and got roomed and this ma tried to room another patient in the SAME room without consent like we arent goin to be able to hear information! Then she copped an attitude with me because I wasnt ok with it! Some staff are great but some of these people need to get an attitude adjustment working in the medical field. You cant be mad at me because Im not ok with my private info being shared!

This place is absolutely horrible I came in with a gash on the back of my head that was bleeding like crazy. I got there at 10:30 they made me wait 2 hours to get a room and then an extra 2 hours to see the doctor who although seemed like a really good doctor didn't help me at all. I had to wait 30 minutes to get my CT scan and and once that was done the person who had helped me told me the results would be back in 30 minutes to an hour needless to say I ended up staying longer than an 1 hour and still hadn't heard anything not by a nurse or by a doctor. I ended up leaving at 3:00am by my own choice because they still hadn't done anything to me so I went out and bought a bandage and went to sleep with this open wound. You might as well just die than go here obviously they don't give a crap about you or your issue. I've never felt less cared about in my life in a medical establishment I don't understand how anyone could ever walk in with a bloody rag on their head and absolutely no one would help him. The worst part though was that although no one came to help me or check out my head or to even offer my another less bloody rag the women who wanted my payment information was ABSOLUTELY responsive constantly checking in on me to kke sure I paid for my lack of treatment GEE THANKS. While there's LITERALLY blood everywhere on the back of my head and hands let me figure this out first for you! Point blank go else where even if you have to drive a little further, heck even if it's a lot further DONT GO HERE THEY WONT HELP YOU!

My last experience was great. I went to emergency and I was seen immediately. I received a emergency spinal surgery. I got excellent service for my therapy the 5 days I was there. The Drs. and nurses were attentive.
I left there and went to rehab.

This is my go to hospital in my area. Specially for heart reasons...trusted and tested by my family for many years! Best hospital!

If I could give negative star's I would. My 74 year old mother fell hitting her head and slicing her hand open (20 stitches). She was left in the ER hallway for 8 hours ( no visitors in the hallway). They don't keep you informed, you have to push for answers. Once in a room the nurses very seldom come in, you have to search for them. I pray you don't get Marilou as your nurse. She's rude and condescending. She shoved my Mom's 6 pills in her mouth at once causing her to choke on them. I thought Kaiser was better than this. I would never let my family back at this hospital!!

St. Joseph nothing saint about that idiotic place ,do not know what the heck they are doing ,do not take your loved ones there. They will make whatever sickness they have worse.They should be closed down. Lord be with anyone who goes there.

Horrible service from both doctor and nurses. Constantly being rude and unprofessional. They have also misdiagnosed a cpuple of times. Definately do not reccomend here.

I dont care what other people say but this hospital they saved my moms(Marlys Weiland) life. Lodi almost killed her. And my friends son is there and they are helping him because of a another hospital not giving him the right diagnoses.

I put off going to the hospital because of I am high risk in multiple ways. I was admitted to the hospital and put into a room with another patient who did not wear a mask. The next day she had to be tested for COVID!!!! I had a mask but it was not an n95. I realized masks are not always an option, and that is why I am saying to you right now, test the patients BEFORE we are admitted into a room with another patient.
This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Approx.8 weeks ago I had open heart surgery at the facility. I can honestly say other than being totally scared out of my wits it was the best experience I have ever had at a hospital. The Doctors and nursing staff were more than helpful, in fact they were all absolutely great. The only negative comment I have is the food, which was totally awful. Wouldn't recommend eating there to anyone. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone who wants a pleasant experience with staff that know and cares about what they are doing and their patients.

I went to the er for my foot. Everyone was nice and fast. I was out of there in 2 and half hours.
