I was waiting area of the ER from 10:15 am - 3:00 pm.
They took my temperature and blood pressure immediately and then did a EKG which was good. Then they put me in the waiting room. I noticed several people had been called back that arrived after me. I went to the desk and asked about that and I was told those people had minor issues and they needed to get them in and out quickly. This was a Thursday. I was sent to the ER by my regular physician (should have been a red flag to me which they confirmed) I had went to do blood work and chest x-ray late Wednesday afternoon. I had 104 fever at the doctor s office. Around 1:30 I was brought to an area where a nurse asked some questions about how I was feeling. I explained my situation and she told the person at the desk I needed to get in the room ASAP. They took me back to waiting area. After about 15 minutes they came and got me to do blood work and a x-ray. I then was sent back to waiting area. After some time the nurse that had done the blood work came and got me and and took me to a room. Which was right at 3:00. The doctor came in around 3:30 and told me I had pneumonia with Sepsis. They wanted to keep me. By 6:45 no room. I told them I was leaving and I would follow up with my doctor the next day. They would not give me medication since I was leaving without their approval.
I sat in that waiting room feeling very ill and was sent there by my doctor who had called them prior to my arrival and still was not seen until 3:00. I assume if more people had come in that they thought they could get in and out of there I would be still sitting there? Why are these people coming to the ER for a hurt hand or ankle (that I saw limping around, when it was convenient) when they could go see a doctor instead wasting the ER time for people who really need it.
