ABUNDANCE OF ART CLASSES for all AGES. EVENING & DAY CLASSES which usually meet 2-4 hours once a week. Since my schedule is all over the place being a Real Estate Agent & evenings aren't free with showing homes to buyers I enjoy most ---workshops. I just completed a 4 hour WORKSHOP PET PORTRAIT PAINTING for $95. (Class prices don't include material). The only negative is that every classroom isn't equipped with a sink (for painting) and blowdryers (to dry the canvas).
Spruill is just as much therapy as it is an art center. So many options for creative outlet. The Saturday pottery class with Janet Schneider is fantastic. The instructor is just the right balance between encouragement and criticism. Love the workshops that allow me to explore new classes, like glass blowing, etc. Highly recommend Spruill Center for the Arts!
Old Dunwoody Elementary School. You can feel the traces of past in it's back.
I love this place, the courses are so affordable and you get extensive studio time.
I've been taking ceramics classes there for nearly 20 years! I love the atmosphere there.
No existing policy on what happens if you sign up for a course less than 3 business days before it starts and then have to cancel. They expect you to just forfeit your entire registration fee AND pay a cancellation fee.
I take every class offered by Chery Baird here. She is a master instructor and knows art through and through. She is extremely prolific and nationally known as an artist. She teaches acrylic painting, abstract painting, collage, color theory, drawing, mixed media drawing and painting, manipulated papers, gelli printing/mono print. She is a master of all she does and highly respected with a large following of students who continuously come back for more.
Love taking classes here. They offer a wide variety of art classes, ranging from one day workshops to quarterly classes. Check their websites for the latest course offerings.
I went to my first and last Saturday class and unfortunately I found out it was more of a free-for-all class. I didn't get too much instruction but mostly criticism. I read a lot of good reviews and was not impressed at all with the class I took. I found out after the class the money I paid I would not get back. I am very disappointed and never returned back for another class. I wish I would have visited the school and watched how the classes were instead of going on assumption.
I had been wanting to sign up for pottery and jewelry making classes at Spruill since I found out about it last fall. I saved up some money and treated myself to a silver and clay workshop and paid for a membership last month. The workshop was scheduled for this Saturday. And then yesterday - I was laid off from my job because business has been so slow the last two months. I called Spruill and explained the situation and they were so kind to me about losing my job and issued me a full refund. With so many businesses these days only caring about money and not people - I thought this was so classy and commendable.
Awesome place for art classes for all ages. Very well organized and friendly staff. A community treasure!
Loved all the classes I've had at Spruill-from sculpting, to writing-
