My son played 1st grade flag football this year and I ve been a bit disappointed in SVAA and how they determine appropriate age groups to play with. Most of the kids on his team are typical 6-7 year old boys in first grade, but a few of the teams have kids one or two years older playing in the same division. The age gap between 6 and 8 is pretty big and even though it is flag, there is still some contact and collisions. My concern is the size difference between a 6 year old and an 8 year old. Right now I would not recommend SVAA flag football without changes occurring.
