This retreat center is located in the beautiful community of Carefree AZ with marvelous landscapes and miles of trail to explore. The center has a well deserved reputation to hospitality. Located in the midst of upscale expensive resorts it provides all of the amenities without the cost. I have experienced several retreats that have been insightful and uplifting. I recommend the experience to anyone who is looking to explore the meaning of life and our calling.

This was a fantastic retreat center. The staff was so pleasant and helpful. Beautiful views, amazing food, and a georgus campus! My room was perfect, overlooking the pool, with a magnificent view of the mountainside which made for beautiful sunrises and sunsets! I highly recommend!

This retreat center is an oasis for the body, mind and soul to become refreshed. It is a place where one can find solitude if desired or be invigorated, informed and challenged by several seminars presented throughout the year. In my third chapter of life it has become my 'bible camp' experience that I loved as a child.

I attended our Synod Women's Retreat and the experience was so spiritually uplifting. Cyndys music and the prayers that pour out of her are so wonderful.
The desert setting is beyond description with the beautiful plants and the mountain views.
It was so easy to meditate while walking the Labyrinth and the Islands of Silence. .
The room was large and very comfortable and near items like the coffee/beverage machine.
The food is so wonderful, served nicely and VERY TASTY.
The Staff is friendly and meeting areas are great.
Don't miss a chance to go there!

I spent a week here for a meeting and it was an amazing place. The room sizes are extremely large and it was a great service experience with all of the staff. I would certainly return with a group in the future and if possible as a solo traveler with family.

I have benefited from this ministry from its beginnings. Whenever I pull into the parking lot I feel a release from the stress, noise, and distractions of the city. I have been able to re-center my spiritual compass by praying along the labyrinth or islands of silence. I have used the campus for family events, professional retreats, and staff development. The campus is well-maintained. The staff knows the gift of hospitality. The meals healthy and plentiful. I highly recommend the taking advantage of this jewel in the desert.

Spirit in the Desert is well named, as it is an island of peace and retreat which might come as a surprise after driving through the heavily populated Phoenix area. The location has become an annual destination for me to join a group for study and fellowship and, as such, it is more like a coming home than a travel B&B. But if ranking it as a travel stay, I give top scores for hospitality and amenities as well as location. I love the quiet, but if in the mood to explore, there are plenty of sights nearby to visit and shops in Carefree are in walking distance.
