BEWARE Spectrum will bill an ER visit however they see fit. When the visit is rejected by your insurance company Spectrum refuses to fix the billing statement per your request as stated to you from the health insurance company. Spectrum just tells you to talk to your health insurance company and pay them the money that the health insurance company rejected due to the way they submitted the bill.

A 77 year old relative went to ER about 20 times ...

A 77 year old relative went to ER about 20 times in the past 2 months, saying he was too ill to care for himself, but was turned away without help each time. The social worker of this hospital determined that this man was either exaggerating or faking symptoms and advised he get mental health care. The patient went to a mental health provider. When the counselor called his name for the appointment, the man was found unconscious in the waiting room. A medical exam showed a blood oxygen of 70%. He was taken back to this hospital ER for visit number 21. He was found to have pnemonia and the infections he had been seeking treatment for had gone to his bloodstream. He is now also diagnosed with sepsis and his family is being told he has a limited chance of recovery.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM? Why was he turned away TWENTY TIMES? Is it because he is poor and on medicare and or medicaid? Who oversees such medical negligence? Is there no place a sick elderly person (also a veteran) can get help? What care can any of us expect any more? How could the conduct of this hospital and its social worker be considered acceptable?

My experience was very disappointing. The ED doctor listened to by heart and lungs for a possible broken finger. Other than an xray he did nothing to care for my hand. The nurse only came to my room to discharge me. I was completely ignored by her. I left there with my hand no better and I recieved no answers or care.

On July 26th I rushed to the ER because I was cramping and bleeding at 5 weeks pregnant. I knew I was miscarrying. I asked for a pad when I changed into the gown, never got a pad. I was given a urine test, waited 30+ minutes for results, still no pad. Doctor Brandi L Dora comes into the room and rudely says you were never pregnant. I pulled all 4 positive tests out of my purse and showed her. She proceeded to say they must ve been a bad batch . Mind you, they were 4 different tests from 4 different stores taken on 2 different days. I asked if I was miscarrying. She said No, must be your period. Mind you, I could barely walk from the pain. I ask for another pad. She leaves the room without giving me anything for pain, and saying nothing more. And still no pad. I wait an hour for someone else to come in the room. I ring for the nurse. Nothing. I called the front desk and they finally brought me a pad. 2 days later I see my OB, she confirmed I was miscarrying. Here I am, 6 days later, doubled over in pain on the toilet, I look down to see the placenta and more blood. But must just be my period.. Right?
Please do not go to Gerber for any pregnancy related visits. Please do not.

I was in contact with someone with covid-19 at work as a letter carrier in Muskegon. My doctor is a spectrum doctor, I was referred to gerber to get tested because I was told they are one of the fastest. So I went on Thursday at 11. I was told by the nurse who took my test 24-48 hours. It is now Sunday over 80 hours after I took the test.

Now I understand they are busy and I m sure they have a lot of incoming covid tests. However, when I was tested at mercy i was told 24-48 hours. I received them in 27 hours.

Simply disappointing that they tell me a 2 day range and can not get my test results. It has now been over 3 days still no results.

You guys always do such an amazing job with my family. You have wonderful bedside manner, and do everything possible to find out what is going on. You take the time to ask me how I feel about the results and what I want to do. I never feel rushed and always get all of my questions answered. Thank you to all of the great staff! I have never had a bad experience!

I love Gerber!! I live in Lowell but drive to Fremont for my OB appointments and for delivery. Also have used their ER and was in and out under an hour and come in contact with nothing but caring staff. Have also used their emergency after hours number and again blown away by their quality of care even over the phone.

I have nothing good to say about this or any Spectrum facility and GMH is no exception to that. This is just more bargan basement, low grade healthcare...the thrift store of healthcare, if you will. They like so many of their peers are the "Thank you for the money, now, get out!" kind.

I would most definitely, not, recommend this or any other Spectrum facility to anyone whether I know/care about them or not because ultimately the "customers" (patients) are little more than slabs of meat to these people to make the only thing they, really, care about..money.

This place missed a brain tumor ( when I was 14) on a ct scan that another hospital found two days later. Got copies of the scan later on down the road and the tumor could be seen. Never been there for less than three hours. Just cause it's got a name change and a big partner doesn't mean it's gotten any better. 4 hours in the e.r. the other day for a slip and fall sent home and a week later still can't lift anything or sit for a period

My 3 day old son didn't have a doctor yet and we s...

My 3 day old son didn't have a doctor yet and we suspected blood in his diaper so we were told to bring him to the ER. We brought two different diapers to show them and instead of collecting a urine sample from a bag, (which wouldn't traumatize his body and make him bleed) they gave him 4 different catheters, making him bleed, only because the test results kept coming back inconclusive. After hours of waiting we were then told we'd have to be transferred to Devos to see a specialist, BY AMBULANCE, which would cost money that we don't have.
A different doctor had came in to talk to us and thank God he did. He said we didn't need to be transferred by ambulance if we just went very soon. He also had a newborn and sympathized and said he was sorry for the trauma and that he would've done differently.
When we went to Devos, the nurses and doctors were very shocked about his treatment at Gerber. The specialist only wanted to see a new diaper, then to collect urine from a bag to make sure there was no Infection from the trauma of the catheters. What we thought to be blood was only "brick dust", something common in newborns.
The specialist and later his doctor both said that they were shocked that the two nurses and two doctors couldn't identify the brick dust and that they wish they would have been there so he could have avoided the catheters.
All my experiences with Gerber's ER have been terrible, but this was the worst. Everyone in the ER seems uneducated, rude, and act like chickens with their heads cut off. Of course they're busy, but they rush absolutely everything.
In the labor and delivery ward, everyone was absolutely amazing to us, including our visitors. The actual doctors office behind the hospital is a bit slow and constantly busy but everyone there that I have encountered are always very kind. I cannot understand how the ER is a complete polar opposite.
