A really majestic historic theater hidden inside an unassuming building.
Wonderful historical theater with great acoustics and a stellar lighting rig.
A wonderful space! I've seen several shows there from a few different companies.
Absolutely stunning theater! Great place to perform and be an audience member.
I love historic buildings This place has a lot of charm The layout was unique It is small and simple creating a more intimate experience with both performers and fellow visitors The energy was great the night I went. I'd be happy to go back for another show.
The stairs can be tricky but the stage is beautiful.
I went to the Southern Theater for a fringe festival show and had a good time. The auditorium is medium size. The seats are comfy and there is good legroom. The lobby and the rest of the facilities are in good shape.
One of the best venues for dance in the Twin Cities. Something about the classic proscenium brings so much character to the show. The parking lot behind The Corner Bar is just $4 all night after 4PM.
This is a neat place in general. Went here for a performance by the St Paul school of Performing Arts. The venue itself is still being renovated to some degree, but it was a very comfortable and intimate setting to watch the performance in general. The industrial feel of the venue was absolutely appreciated and parking was easy enough in the ramp around the corner.
Ball's cabaret is always a fun time with good people
Park in the hotel ramp. It's easier than searching for a spot on the street.
Wonderful small theater with eclectic variety of shows and reasonable prices.
This is one of the most beautiful performing arts spaces in the Twin Cities. The stuff going on onstage is normally pretty great, too.
Really cool atmosphere. Visited most recently for a Taiko concert. Good acoustics, lighting, seating.
Ancestral Origins: An Agriculturists Exploration of Joy and Beauty - was amazing!!! A long sit, but dancing and singing at the end. I cried, laughed and was on the edge of my seat with delight
What a gem in Minnesota when it comes to venues. A440, did an amazing having these bands there. The staff was also amazing.
It's a venue. Many different community groups perform. Nothing fancy but pure root theater.
I do enjoy this place! Its quaint and fun! Parking is an issue so make sure you give yourself ample time to park. Theres a pay lot across the street and on street parking at meters.
Wow, what a hidden gem. The performances are really fun, and such a unique atmosphere.
This is a historic, intimate venue with loads of character. Seeing a play or artistic performance here is always a joy. The seats are not the most comfortable, but the authenticity of the atmosphere more than compensates for that minor flaw. I highly recommend the weekly variety show that happens at Midnight every Saturday, Balls Cabaret. Minneapolis is lucky to have this gem of a theater.
I often see Theater Mu productions in this venue. Great space!
Beautiful history, architecture and lighting. Perfect space for a dance performance!
I love this space! The staff are really nice and they present incredible art.
Shabby-chic rustic little theater. Basic necessities available for a small production. I enjoyed working here.
My daughter has had a few dance shows here now. It's a really great venue for. Small to medium show. Comfortable seats (I'm 6'2", I always notice the seats.) Good visibility to the stage. Great sound and good lighting too. I've told the owner of the studio it's my favorite place to see my kids dance.
Really nice theater and I always love their Halloween shows. Very nice staff and owners!
If these walls could talk! Gorgeous old theater, amazing atmosphere.
Beautiful Venue with a great light plot and unique acoustics. Good mix of local artists, and it is a historic building. Parking is rough, but you can part at the courtyard Marriott for a hefty fee/street parking meters. Iconic stone arch stage.
Fantastic play written and performed by Iraqi refugees
Beautiful unique setting...lovely seating...great acoustics!
Absolutely loved experiencing Ball's Cabaret at this beautiful venue. It was an unusual show time (Friday at 7:30) as they were celebrating at 25th anniversary here. But if you're ever in Minneapolis on a Saturday at midnight I highly recommend you attend Ball's Cabaret. Leslie Ball is an amazing person full of love and light. And the performers (of all stages and types of talent) will astound and amaze you.
Not your traditional theater, raw and very organic. Perfect for actors and audience.
Had a great time with my son experiencing Taiko drumming for the first time. The theater is old full of character, which we both thought was cool (some might see it as run down). The seats were comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Simple and quaint.
Excellent local theater and dance. Beautiful, historic venue.
Beautiful theater. Saw Stealin Dan there was Awesome. Parking ramp next door as well as several restaurants close by.
I danced here, and did a photo shoot. Very nice place.
Excellent seating, but just a little shy on the remodeling.
My niece performs here and their group is awesome! I love the nice theater.
Still going. The shows are always great and it is great that there is a place for local presenters to run shows that aren't funded by large companies.
I absolutely love the Southern Theatre.
I am an ARTSHARE member and I think the Southern is one of the best performance arenas I have ever had the pleasure to visit. If you're not an ARTSHARE member do look into it and help the Southern continue to bring this incredible level of performance to our city. Thank you and you can count on me returning many times in the future!
LOVE the vintage feel, seats were comfortable and you didnt have to look over the person's head sitting in front of you. Kind staff.
Great open space with good acoustics, comfortable chairs, wide range of performances.
Great venue. Comfortable seating and friendly staffing.
Unassuming from the outside, this beautiful performance space, with an exposed brick arch framing the stage, is a quiet gem of the Twin Cities.
Fun place for horror fest. Its quaint, atmospheric and gots big name actors all over.or should I say "up and coming."
Either way,I've spent many of a night here sitting in the front audience or looking up into the rising seats behind me and thinking to myself "I must be pretty cool if I've made it here."
And I was transported to a place of peace and calm by the magic of Balls.
This is one of my favorite theaters, it s GORGEOUS! I can t wait for a bathroom renovation, then this will be a 5 star joint!!!
Cool limestone building, historic theater with socially relevant productions
We went to Horror Festival and saw the Book of Shadows II. It was great.
Visited for a short film festival, and was blown away by what an excellent event it was. Very cool building, and really great atmosphere!
Great theatre for dance. Unique space,
Good seating and sight lines.
A really great open space. Saw a Fringe show here and enjoyed it. I have not been outside of Fringe
Awesome venue! I love the shabby chic archway over the stage. It s a tremendous resource for the community and entertainment is an incredible value for the price.
Beautiful place! Great acoustics, stage & performances!!
Overpriced, poor customer service, and unfriendly employees. I won't be back.
Saw a moving performance during the Fringe Festival here. "I Found Me" choreographed by Rachel Horner transported viewers into a journey of the heart. Truly inspiring.
