Horrible Place. Only wants to hire incompetent and inexperienced people so they can pay them low wages. Would NEVER let them watch my loved one.

I have been working with Sound Options for a few years now. They have assisted me with a very difficult situation with a person that I am the DPOA for, who is also a long time family friend. Sound Options assisted me with moving my friend from her home to a suitable facility for dementia care - a very difficult task. There was no way on earth that I would have been able to make this transition occur without the help from the Care Managers at Sound Options. Sound Options continues to work with my friend and helps to oversee her care. I cannot say enough good things about Sound Options and the Care Managers who have assisted me. They are knowledgable and professional and have made my job as DPOA so much easier. I could not have managed all the complexities of the transition without Sound Options.
Sound Options came through for me after my mother passed away and I was left to take care of an ailing grandmother with dementia. She needed 24/7 care because of a high fall and stroke risk. I work full time with a family of my own. Their nurse care managers helped me to find a good adult family home that met my grandmother's needs. They helped me with Medicaid applications (ugh!) and helped me to keep my sanity! I don't know what I would have done without them!
Hired this company to help my mother during a rough time for her. Their employees did not fulfill the duties we contracted for; help with meals, bathing, dressing, lite house cleaning & laundry assistance, some shopping, and to be sure she took her medications each day. The first person they sent spent all her time playing with the cat and ignoring my mother, the second took all the canned food and kitchen gadgets from the home (claims the kitchen gadgets are in "a bag" in the spare bedroom, but we cannot find a bag), the fourth fell asleep on the sofa and woke up when time to go home, the final person was a bit better, but after a long and hard six months, mom can care for herself again. All of them were more than happy to be collecting $34.00 per hour to go out to lunch with my mother, where she paid for their meals. (All the companies I am aware of have a policy against clients making gifts of restaurant meals, but this one does not.) All of them wold spend the majority of their time watching TV with my mother, doing nothing.
This was an incredibly expensive mistake where they used my mother as a training ground for under-engaged, untrained, uncaring and incompetent people. Then, when confronted they tried to blame "the family" because we did not tell them of these issues in a more timely manner (I went to visit and only discovered these issues after two months of their service and called right away when I realized what was going on. This was also a bit of a fib, as they did know about the worker who slept through her shift, and about the worker playing with the cat.) They did say they'd "try to make it right" and they have, as they have written off one week of charges (about $950.00), but some financial reimbursement does not inspire my confidence in their ability to care for my elderly and vulnerable parent. They did acknowledge the issues, but blamed some bad hires. They told me their supervisor was actively engaged in training and supervising, but my mother reports never seeing a supervisor after the first interview.
Overall, I cannot recommend this company. They sent unqualified, untrained people who managed to sleep, spend all their time watching TV, play with the cat, take things that were not theirs from the home, not do the work we expected, and then blame my family for all this.
Make your own decisions, but please know, they are were not as competent and responsible with my mother as they told us they would be. They get two stars, as the last person they sent was OK, and they did reimburse a tiny amount - so they tried, but it was too-little and too-late.
Very professional and responsive. Trained caregivers
I believe this will be the best choice I could have made. Not knowing what to expect & having no experience with senior care, I just was put at ease. I will be recommending Sound Options ..And a special bump to Jenny D.
Thank You

Sound Options provides wonderful services for my mother, who is 99 and still living independently! Sound Options is flexible in meeting her needs (which aren't a lot) and very responsive to our requests.
Great services, great staff... Highly recommend working for Sound Options
Mary Lynn and her team worked tirelessly to help secure the needs of my mom, over the course of a couple of years. The team was quite inventive in finding ways to assist mom, with plans that she could accept. Mary Lynn also was a great assist in helping my sisters and I come up with differing options when we needed to find alternative placements for mom. I cannot say enough good about this agency and it's caregivers, will always return to Sound Options for care!
Without Sound Options, I'm not sure how I would have been able to get my wife the care she needed. Sound Options is a resource everyone should know about. Thank you Sound Options!
