SHADY business ethics! I ordered a kit in the begi...

SHADY business ethics! I ordered a kit in the beginning of the year. Three weeks ago the school calls me to tell me that the check bounced and now this company wants $35 because the check bounced, $25 bounced check fee and $10 for the kit. Three days prior my checking account was closed because it was compromised, there had been fraud on the account. I told the school to give me the number and I'll personally call them. (this was a month ago) Today, the school calls me again and finally gives me the number and tells me that the company is with-holding ALL the emergency kits ordered by other kids, until I pay the $35. These are kindergarteners!!! Who live in LA!!! GOD FORBID THERE BE AN EARTHQUAKE AND THEY ACTUALLY NEED IT! I called and didn't know this at the time... spoke with the owner Jeff Edelstein, who was very condescending. I know I touched a nerve when I asked if it was even a real company and he went on a rant about how it was. Anyway, This company is more concerned with MONEY, then they are concerned with the health and safety of CHILDREN! I hope schools will stop doing business with him because companies like this shouldn't be in business!!!! I paid the $35 because I would hate for anything to happen and have these kids without the kit. It was never about the money for me. Jeff Edelstein, you should have told me you were the owner. You couldn't cut a loss of $25 but I know you have insurance. Don't worry, you'll never have my business again and I will always discourage others as well.

I went there yesterday to buy a emergency water barrel. I was expecting knowledgeable help. No such luck. So, I read reviews this morning and saw one complimenting Bennie. I called there and they said Bennie no longer works there.

First of all, I called yesterday to see what the dimensions of the barrel were so I could figure out getting it home. I was told that it was 18" in diameter. I thought that was small, so I went online and saw that it was 24" in diameter. I called back and the woman said, "I'm glad you called back. The diameter is actually 20 inches." I told her the website said 24". She said that she would check and came back and said, that, yes, it is 24". 2 incorrect answers in 5 minutes. I went there and asked if I could make sure the barrel fit in my car and was told yes. But **I** had to take it off the display, take it through the store and out to my car. No service. And it went on and on like that with questions about stabilizing the barrel so it wouldn't tip over. Answers like, "I guess you could..." and this was with 2 people there. I was expecting knowledge and came away with guesses. And... it was a 40 mile round trip. VERY disappointed. I had been there before and had a sense of professionalism. No more. I was also going to buy other supplies including food, but I'll get them elsewhere.

The Disaster Preparedness class was great. Very informative, but not overwhelming. Cannot wait for the upcoming clearance sale - loved their in person sales at LAUSD headquarters. The only thing that stopped this from being a 5 star review was the lack of muting of all microphones. Do not know who the crazy woman was that would randomly interrupt the class which was very distracting.

Great experience with the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful in providing suggestions for gear that I was looking for. They provide a discount for CERT members which is great when you're trying to make a kick ass response bag. They carry all the CERT pads and water proof manuals and reference manuals that are designed for pocket carry. They also carry all of the stuff you need for serious emergency preparedness: safe water storage & filtration, flashlights, first aid supplies and complete kits all the way up to EMT level kits. They also have training courses that they hold onsite. I personally took my first aid / cpr / aed here with my wife. This is a great place and a great resource I'd you're into CERT, prepping, or just feel you need to get a few things in case of emergency.

Great variety of disaster awareness products at a good price. Knowlegeable employees on hand to answer most questions. Been shopping there for over 15 yrs. The key to disaster awareness is to prepare before the disaster, not during or after. They offer a break to L.E.Os.
