Wonderful resort with luxury self-catering chalets...

Wonderful resort with luxury self-catering chalets, warm and cold pools and nature on your doorstep!
Highly recommended for families, those who love Mountain biking, hiking and nature.
Look forward to Njalas and Warthogs visiting, so keep your camera ready.
Lots of birds & insects to photograph and there are a few bird & wildlife hides scattered on the property.
There is a farmyard and the kids can milk cows, feed goats and ponies.

Not for nature lovers. Third evening of loud disco music and party at Karee 117. Management says there is a policy but it is not implemented. You end up sitting inside with closed windows. At R1500 per night.

My neighbour very kindly gave her timeshare points to me, and I feel that they were wasted on Sondela. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the animals that visit on daily basis was just wonderful.
However, I would strongly recommend that guests DO NOT book during the week. Most of the activities and facilities only operate over the weekends. The main restaurant was closed, the general store closed at 4pm everyday, the kiosk at the entertainment area was closed too. No horse riding, no quad bikes and the farmyard is a joke.
The Wildlife Centre offers a Daily Tour and a Feeding Tour - both the same, except the feeding tour included WATCHING the ranger feed the animals - no animal interaction. And the variety of animals seen on their website, certainly did not match what they have - no cheetah, no giraffe, no rhino, no cubs. They should state what animals are available before guests pay for the tours.
Accommodation, wildlife and pools were lovely, but activities and facilities were poor and outdated.

We had such a terrific time at the Carvan park. With super clean and hygienic own bathroom right next to our caravan, a team of friendly ladies coming around in the morning to wash our dishes and guys to clean the braai, made out stay effortless and fun. The young rangers and waiters were so well mannered and friendly, always ready to assist us with anything we needed. To top this all off we were in the super large bright blue hot pool with rain pouring down... What an amazing setting and experience. Next time we bringing to whole family.. The many events for the children is bound to keep any child occupied for hours, or and even the grown ups.

The game drive was just as special. Professional and fun with experienced rangers sharing interesting things about nature that we did not know... Very informative!
The Spa treatment was my highlight... With 3 pools of different temperatures to relax in after my treatment and my partner was also welcomed into the spa to use the facility whilst waiting for my treatment to be done.
We could not have asked for a better experience . Sondela offered so much more than we expected. What really impressed my partner was the rinse off of our vehicle and caravan by the exit gate before hitting the road back to Edenvale.

We will definitely be returning soon. Than you so much guys. You did everything perfect!

Happy days!

I really enjoy this place. Maybe it's not a 5 star but the kids absolutely loved it and they nyalala roam around the camp where we stayed. A really good feel of being in the bushveld close to nature and we saw a fair amount of game. Had really nice braais in the evenings and had some really good times here with friends. I would recommend.

A gem found not far from Bela-Bela. Far enough from the city to get away from the rat race, but not too far away from important amenities such as pharmicies and hospitals, in case of an emergency. We had such a wonderful time! We stayed in the guesthouse - everything was splendid! From the friendly staff and fantastic food to the beautiful garden.

If you are looking for a place to unwind (and a massage to go with it), Sondela guesthouse and spa is the place to be!

We had a family over form the UK and took them their for the week.
First of all we had to pay extra R200 for conservation fee. WHY?
There is no inventory list to check the content of house
The toilet was blocked.
The bedding was dirty.
We booked for Kleilat BUT there was not any 'latte" to use.
iIwill not recommend this to anyone and I will not go again.

Had a 3 day ,2 night stay there last week for a work event. Our group was treated like VIPs. The Makhatu chalets 1,8,24,26 were wonderful. The staff at the restaurant gave us 5 star service and waited on us for as long as we needed.
The swimming pools are amazing and the wildlife sanctuary is great. Go there and meet Steve the Bushbaby.

Quad biking game drive experience is to die for. Lots of adrenaline rush.

The dirt roads are well leveled all around the reserve.

Very clean chalets. Makhatu 26 is the best place for a party of 5, 6 if the main is shared.
